    I think the "Patient's Admin Flag" is just to identify if the admitting patient has a certain behavioral issue or exhibit some level of violence so people treating can be cautious.

    Thank you for this tutorial! I'm considering using buttons as filters, allowing nine charts to display in three containers: "by hour", "by day of week", and "by month", with toggles for "average wait time", “average satisfaction score”, and "count", where the buttons would affect all three charts. This seems efficient and clean, but do you think it might be too complex for recruiters or a real workplace setting? Would simplicity be better? I’ve been going back and forth on this for hours 😂

    • @DataWizardry
      @DataWizardry  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Sounds awesome, I think you should definitely give it a try! It would be great for a portfolio project, and would be good to get the practice building something with these more complex features.
      If it's a real life work setting though, I usually start simple, and then make my dashboards more complex depending on the needs of the person that I'm working with.
      If I do end up making something complicated, I try to have documentation or notes somewhere about the complicated stuff I'm building into the dashboard so that if someone else has to maintain the dashboard, it won't be too difficult for them.

    Hi, I also wanted to ask about all the nulls in the patient satisfaction score. Theres a large percent of it missing. The median (5.0 and mean (4.99) are very close. Would you fill with the median since it is right in the middle?

    • @DataWizardry
      @DataWizardry  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I wouldn't worry about the large volume of nulls. In reality, a small % of your patients are going to be filling out a patient satisfaction survey. Though it might be a good idea to call out the small sample size on the dashboard if this were a real-life setting.
      For the data that we do have, the decision to use median vs mean will depend on the siutation. I usually use median if there are some very large outliers that could cause the mean to be misleading.

  • @kateguadarrama2413
    @kateguadarrama2413 ปีที่แล้ว

    What would you do about the null records in patient_sat_score for statistical analysis?

    • @DataWizardry
      @DataWizardry  ปีที่แล้ว

      You could create a calculation that measures the % of null instances over time in a line graph if you wanted to see the response rate of people taking some survey.
      Then if the % that we see is consistenly below target, the people that monitor patient survey data might come up with a strategy to raise engagement rates, and see if it had any effect on the line graph.

    Hey I love your content and it's really helped me in getting to know the DA field more. A quick question. I'm at 29:05 of the video and when I right click, there's no format option. Would you know why this is the case?

    • @DataWizardry
      @DataWizardry  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello! I think I see what the problem is. Try viewing this image I uploaded: imgur.com/a/fsQ9EV6
      Right click within the white border. If it's even a tiny bit outside of that white border, you won't see the format option.
      The reason (I think) is because the format option that you see is reserved for worksheets. whereas the space outside that white border is either the title of the worksheet (which, when you right click, will say 'format title'), or the container of the worksheet, which has its own formatting section under the 'layout' tab on the left side panel.
      I hope that's helpful!

    This is so helpful -- thank you so much!! 👏🙏
    Just curious - For 13:01, can I not take the "Patient Age" variable and change it to "Count" for my rows? When I tried that, the line graph result seems to be the same as when you pulled the "Patient Id" count as your row, but just wondering if the alternative way would cause any error in interpretations.
    (Like I noticed that the row heading would then be changed to "Count of Patient Age," which doesn't sound quite right.)
    Also, I found something odd in my Patient Race bar graph that my label "498" at the tip of the Native American group at the bottom wouldn't show up for some reason while all other labels for other racial groups did show up after making a duplicate of the "Patient Id CNT" pill to the "Label" box. I also tried enlarging the width of the fields label column but it still didn't work...

    • @DataWizardry
      @DataWizardry  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When I do counts, I typically will do one of two things,
      1. I'll either use the thing that uniquely identifies every single row (a primary key, which can never be empty), or
      2. I'll create a calculation in Tableau that stores a value of 1, and what that will do is just put 1 in every single row.
      Whichever of those two columns I count on, Tableau will then count every single row.
      I suppose you could count on age here if you wanted to. You would just need to make sure that there are no missing birthdates in the dataset, which would result in a blank value and give you a lower count that what you actually have.
      Regarding the missing 498, it's probably missing because the graph had a small width in the bars. When that happens, Tableau tries to hide it to make it more visually readable.
      There's a couple ways around that. The easiest way is to play with the bar width while lowering the font size, and usually that makes it re-appear.
      Another way is to go to the Label button (looks like a square with a 'T' under 'Marks'), and click the button that says 'Allow Labels to Overlap with Marks' and this overrides the space limitation issue, forcing it to appear.
      I hope that's helpful.

      @@DataWizardry Hi Josh, yes this is really helpful! Thank you so much!
      Thanks to you, I've finished building my own Tableau dashboard following your video, and I added a data source section to mention the RWFD's ER dataset, but I feel odd not to credit or mention you/your video on my dashboard.
      So I thought it would be worthwhile asking if you have a preference for citations or mentions to your channel/video on my dashboard in the source/note section?
