      Haha, aggreed, like finding a recipe on the internet. - And you have to scroll past the history and evolution of cheese - And you're in the store looking for ingredients.

    This is so deep! Loving it! I'm a bassist, so I find it interesting taking the harmony in different directions and attempting to apply it to my own solos. Great stuff bro!

    Good Video. Can you do more vids about left hand ideas like the this one? Also which one of your books deal with left hand ideas when playing solo piano ?? Thank you so much 👍🏿

    you already know we smashing that like button. i do have a question though: i understand all the theory in jazz and know all my scales and chords, but i have trouble comping chords at tempo. it’s like i have to think about the voicing for each chord. any exercises to help get me playing at speed?

    Learning these chords. - Non Music reader here - But natural at the "EAR" THING. So I came here looking for something - What is it that you're doing with your right hand. You're doign the chords with the left, And I need to learn all of those too. But what is the term for the runs you're doing with the right? And those scales?
    Much thanks

    Hey Noah that was great ! Could you talk slowly about what you are doing with the sus ? Greetings from Colombia

  • @luxolontamo4440
    @luxolontamo4440 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    Hey Noah! Thanks for the great lesson, I was so impressed by your solo over these changes especially by how your fingers smoothly move from one phrase to the next without mistakely touching the note next to the one you actually intended to play. Don't you know of any specific finger exercise or trick that can help me to have a smooth fingering just like you.. to be honest I have so many ideas when I play but my technic is letting me down big time

    • @NoahKellman
      @NoahKellman  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Luxolo-- I understand! That's tricky. I think it's not about any one specific exercise. It's about practicing different licks, exercises, etc. and building good finger habits. It will start to pay off the more you do.

    Could you put out a tutorial on how you comp rythm changes lets say in a quartet setting with bass player? Something like the Mindblowing comping you did with chad LB:-)

    Hi Noah!! I love at 7:06( changing gears) but I don't know how this is chord subbing. can you please explain.? Are you saying if a bass player plays the regular Bb pattern of Rhythm changes it will match? sounds so awesome but I am lost on this. PS-I dont play with a bass player so it's nice to have all the solo stuff..... thanks. PC

    • @pianocat7340
      @pianocat7340 ปีที่แล้ว

      So answering my own question is no it doesnt match so if you did play this with bassist, hed have to know ahead of time, correct? Do you have signals when you do it live?

    I noticed the Gbmaj in some rhythm changes you played with chad and didn't understand it, it is a really nice sound though. I think you might have connected the Bbsus to a Gbsus (tritone sub of the ii chord) using that Absus as a passing chord, that's how I was rationalizing it anyways

    • @NoahKellman
      @NoahKellman  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Casey, great catch. Yeah, totally, I sometimes go down another step to that Gbsus / Dbm9 too!
