Dr Phil telling them they can fix it with his book is absolutely the worst advice I've ever seen. Throw the man out and run away, but be careful when you do, because this guy is dangerous and will not be okay with you leaving.
in the UK this is now recognised as a Domestic Violence crime. No actual violence has to take place. Its called Cohersive Control and is abuse. In the UK he would, if found guilty, most like go to prison for this treatment of her.
The minute she walked out the door he would be lost without her.He focuses on her so he doesn’t have to face his deep rooted issues. This man is a psychiatrists dream patient...
OMG, this man is unbearable. The first time he tried to tell me what to wear, let alone that I was worthless, there would be a me-shaped hole in the door.
Right there's only so much abuse any woman/man should ever take. And yes men go through this more then we will EVER hear about cuz honestly what guy would admit sever abuse. This episode brings back such horrible memories for me
I was with a guy just like this for 3 months. Total narcissist. Those 3 months felt like 10 years. I thank God I never married him or had kids with him. People like this don’t change. They get worse because they literally feel like they are perfect and have no flaws or shortcomings. It’s like talking to a brick wall.
I'm glad you got out Jessica! Too many women seem to accept this kind of behavior because they're afraid of being alone. Life is way too short to put up with a man like that.
Girl I totally can agree ! I was with someone like that for 5 freaking years, and to think I wanted to MARRY him. I thank God everyday for taking me away from that disaster in the making!
I totally agree with that. I was in an emotionally and mentally abusive relationship for 7 years and when I started going down hill and knew I was close to hating myself I left and never looked back. I have been gone for over a year and I’ve never been happier. When someone tells you so many times you are crazy and you need help you start to believe it. It messes with your mind. My ex never hit me, but honestly I think him hitting me wouldn’t be as bad as emotional abuse. Emotional and mental abuse effects you so badly. It breaks you down to where you feel like your nothing without the other person and they make you believe no one else will want you because your so stupid and ugly and crazy. Any woman in this situation needs to get out. I know it’s scary to leave someone, but if you don’t leave you will have a miserable life. No one is worth causing you so much pain. Whoever you are with should build you and not tear you down.
I agree - I’ve been through physical and emotional abuse, but the emotional abuse is what really messes with you longer… these episodes are always hard for me to watch because I feel for the woman… thankfully I never procreated with or married any of the abusive men in my past, because I can only imagine how much harder it must be to leave
Same here i use to be with someone like this i cant thank god enough its over! And bc of this i will remain alone forever. Im more than happy and so grateful to God & his angels .
Same here. I have been divorced for over 20 years and been alone. I even had to hide for an entire year. So, my husband would not find me before I filed for divorce. I knew the minute I filed, He would know where I lived, and I was scared. 😢
Gotta keep the nastiness a secret. She would eventually realize that relationships aren’t supposed to be like that & people who knew what was going on would eventually convince her to leave.
Funny thing is, if she went to the gym/working out, he’d start to get pissed about that because she would be getting more attention, he’d cut that off in a heart beat too
I'm a very brittle type 1 diabetic and have had multiple hospitalizations but have never told anyone that they need to keep an eye on me "just in case." He is just using this as an excuse for his controlling behavior.
Not yet, you haven't seen my husband..he deserted me when I legally complained against him for his abusive behaviour during my pregnancy.. since then he didn't turn up .my son is 2.5 years old ..he and his family never came to meet me and my premature son.
No. He's not the worst. Trust me. An actual domestic abuse survivor would not be able to sit on national tv and confront her abuser. A real victim would be terrified of the consequences and would remain out of the spotlight to make it easier to slip away and escape. I believe he's a narcissist. I believe he's controlling. But there's truth in what he's saying too. When she started "crying" there were no tears. That's typical of an exaggerater.
My ex was drugging me when things were going bad. I personally don't think he was trying to kill me, but delay the inevitable, me leaving. What is really terrifying is.. I was seeing doctors for narcolepsy and all sorts of things. I only found out when I left him and switched doctors and they did a new blood panel.
This guy really reminds me of a very slightly milder version of my own ex. When he finally decided to walk out on our relationship it was the best thing that ever happened to me!
An abusive, controlling man trying to isolate his wife is a “good egg” according to Phil? Wow, I’d be dead if I had a therapist like that 20 years ago.
Last show I watched similar he organised weight loss and dietician..losing weight wasn't the issue..losing the dead weight of her husband should have been the advice!!

Entitlement? Because he asks her to shower and actually contribute to the household? What does the woman contribute to the marriage? From the sounds of it nothing. She sleeps, watches daytime TV, and complains. This man has to work all day while also taking care of an adult toddler who throws a tantrum if asked to shower.
It’s 2024. I’m sooo glad I’m single. Young gals, you ARE NOT obligated to put up with being treated like a child or subservient by anyone . Don’t let anyone bully you. It’s amazing how women put up with crap from their man, that they would not tolerate AT ALL from friends. Get out. Too Often we fall in love with what we want them to be, instead of what they are. RUN. 🏃🏽
I agree. This was 2014. I think many women would take a seat today when somebody would ask that question (Ladies, remain standing if you think getting married, etc. is a good and natural way to go through life.). As in 2024, we've taken steps towards being ourselves. We know now that we are perfectly fine, perhaps even better off, being single. Marriage is healthier for men than it is for women. Proven fact: Married men live longer and healthier than single men. Single women live longer and healthier than married women.
Shows how our society rewards narcissism and even laughs at it like it's a joke. Meanwhile, she's dying inside. He will destroy her. He might even try to kill her if she tries to leave.

narcissist...my father was exactly like this, even trying to control my every move after I turned 18. Thank god I cut him out of my life. I could not imagine my significant other treating my like this and most likely he did not show any of these tendencies until he HOOKED her.
They didn’t talk about the beginning of their relationship but knowing narcs like I do i bet he love bombed the crap out of her. Then after the got married he started the devaluating stage. And the gaslighting and the crazy making. She’s called him on his BS so now comes the discard stage. If there is one good thing about narcissists.:.they are predictable as heck.

Typical narcissist logic. Seriously. So disturbing and sick.
Gaslighting her
He has literally pushed her to depression, then now he's overwhelmed by what he has made of her.. everything he does has just made the situation worse.. they need to part ways, there's no saving this marriage..
He will cheat on her, he hates her.
They are both codependent. He won’t stop and neither will she. They have chosen to imprison themselves together. Scary
I'll be dammed before my husband EVER disrespects me like that.
If my husband did that to me only 3 times or less, I'd be gone!
One time,all the time!!
I was married to someone this controlling and abusive. He gives her sleeping pills then gets angry that she oversleeps. It's hard to watch someone else go through it. It's amazing how he dances around most of the questions. He is a total manipulative Douch bag. I hope she left him.
I myself went through the same. Divorced 23 years and happy.

You love that word
Girl I totally can agree ! I was with someone like that for 5 freaking years, and to think I wanted to MARRY him. I thank God everyday for taking me away from that disaster in the making!
The narcissist always has to be the victim as well and gaslights when caught 😅
I was too.
He called me fat, made fun of my mental illnesses, all while thinking he was perfect. I’m so glad I left
Been there, allowed that. Get out girl, before he steals your spirit. The emotional abuse is worse than broken bones.
