I am a Chicagoland resident who has seen this painting many times, which I have always admired. My thanks in advance to Ms. Wrubal, for her expert and painstaking restoration. I can't wait to see the results in person (and it occurs to me that I will be on Michigan Ave. in two days!).
Didn't know this was at the CAI. Will be visiting there for the first time this weekend. Must make it a point to see this. Caillebotte is one of fave painters! Visited his old rowing club bldg at the isle d'Chatou on the Seine 6 years ago.
Yes, it has been to Europe 4 times since the Art Institute acquired it in 1964, most recently at the Berlin, Alte Nationalgalerie, Gustave Caillebotte: Painter and Patron of Impressionism, April 26 - October 8 2019.
Caillebotte deserves to be more widely known.
