Chad Middleton you don’t have to purchase any battle pass or season pass to play the game. You don’t necessarily need to purchase the founders pack either, it’s just really nice to unlock all of the playable characters right away, while also unlocking all God’s that hirez adds to the game over time. There is a battle pass that you can purchase, that comes out every two months for about 15 dollars, but the pass just offers different cosmetics. The in game store only sells cosmetics, so you don’t have to purchase anything if you don’t want to after the founders pack, which also isn’t required, I’d just recommend that if you do spend anything on the game.

-Arena is for beginners and to rank up your god, -Conquest is the strategy game type. A lot of toxic, I mean ALOT -Assult is a one lane and a lot of pro's go there they mastered all of the gods. -seige is the ultimate ganking type, becareful going in the woods alone -clash is pretty fast and teamwork is really required. Not a lot toxic surprisingly.

I have three accounts. One on playstation, one on pc, one on switch. Because absolutely love this game. And from someone who’s dumped hundreds of hours into the ps4, i can say the switch version doesn’t feel different due to different hardware and softwares
My only gripe with this game is that some of the ability descriptions have a lot of useless information. Like “X focuses his energy into his spear, increasing its damage before throwing it. As it travels it leaves behind a trail of ethereal energy which latches onto nearby enemy gods damaging them over time” when really all it needs to say is “X throws his spear, enemies hit take damage over time.
Matthew Coniglione the rest might not completely be ready yet for the port. Smite updates constantly, and the switch port is brand new so hi Rez hasn’t fully fixed everything yet.
I literally can’t play conquest or siege or game mode of the day or it crashes and it crashes with certain skins or after like 4 games of anything lol, I find it unplayable sometimes.

No its not. You will never be locked out of playing a God, because you constantly earn points playing the game that you can use to rent or permanently unlock. You will always have these points to at least rent any god you like. I would instead save your $30 and use it to buy skins. I am a level 105 player and have never bought the pack.

This review did not feel like it was about the switch version. It just felt like a fan plea-ing people to play his favorite game. It doesn’t look like WOW either.
Kieran Galiano smite is essentially the same game on all platforms that it exists on. Cross play is coming to the game this year also that will eliminate the few differences that exist in the different ports of the game. The only thing that we could really mention about the switch port were the controls of the game, and the exclusives that you can get from the switch’s version of the founders pack. That review would only have been a few minutes at most. I’m sorry that you didn’t enjoy the review, but I found it challenging to review a game that didn’t necessarily have a story mode, or a definite end to it.

My biggest concern regarding any Moba Game is "how toxic is the community? I still have nightmares about my 2 hours experience playing LOL back in 1872.
Denis the community can be toxic if you aren’t the best. Smite makes it nice though because if you are newer it matches you with newer people who probably won’t be toxic. People really are only mean if you are intentionally throwing the game and trying to lose.
Guys you dont need to buy the founders pack. Instead save that and buy skins, when you find characters you like. I have never bought the founders pack, and never been restricted on playing gods. You can rent them any time, and you use points that you earn in game rent them.
The founders pack doesn’t just give you access to all the gods. You also get a limited skin, and some currency in the game as well. You can spend your in game currency on many other things instead of just renting the gods. I run out of my currency all the time buying mastery skins, and rerolling my god in assault. I am level 158/160 on pc, and eventually the in game currency starts really stacking up but it takes a long time, and I bought the founders pack the day that it was created years ago. You really don’t need to buy it, but it’s a very good way to support Hi Rez for making a great moba.

haime cayanan if you have a history of mobas you will like smite. I used to play league of legends, but God’s and the third person view swayed me to smite. I think it takes more skill to excel at this game and feels much more rewarding then league or dota does.

"Matches can last up to an hour or more." - if that's the case, you have done something very very wrong. Most matches are about half an hour, with the very longest being *maybe* 45 minutes if both teams are derping.
I’ll never get to 1000 hours. Not because I don’t like the game, I love it a ton. But after 5-6 games, I DC and cannot reconnect. After finally reconnecting, I am greeted with a debuff for deserting a game that will last 1200 minutes. Nice.

Da-Le Gameplay I would probably play that game if the exp gained in game wasn’t shared with your party, and wasn’t a top down moba. I love most of blizzards games, just not that one sadly ◞‸◟. I’ve played too much of league in my younger life to want to go back to a top down moba. I play a lot of smite and Wow, which are both third person.
Daniel Ross I only really mentioned the founders pack because it has some content in it that is unique to the switch. The game is on every console including pc, but the Scylla skin that you get in the pack only exists on the switch. And the beta that the game is in is supposed to last until June I think, so the pack lets you play the game “on the go” much earlier then if you wait until it fully opens up for everyone else. The beta is just a bonus though, you really are purchasing the ability to play all of the gods instantly instead of unlocking them over months of playing the game. That’s the only purchase that I would recommend to anyone who plays smite. It’s the only moba on the market that offers a system like that. It’s sad if you play league, so not being able to play the newest champion released because you are short on cash ◞‸◟
I don't play a lot of multiplayers online games because I'm more of a single player guy but I kinda enjoy Paladins every now and then, Moji is my main not just because she's an adorable mage with a two headed dragon but also my favorite champion to use in matches even though I kinda a noob at that game still. I always feel too intimated to try out Smite just because the overwhelming amount of god characters and I probably just plain suck at it.

Otherwise a very very good review but that remark about the graphics... do any of the reviewers actually know/remember what early 2000 games looked like? because so far I haven't run into a single one that does. I've seen people compare Sekiro to Ratchet and Clank (original) in terms of graphics. Eso to Oldschool Runescape. Witcher 3 to Resident Evil 3. Final Fantasy XV to Ninja Gaiden 3 and even Devil May Cry 5 to fucking Final Fantasy X...
Mi Do you get used to walking if you play. They all look sort of floaty since the movement speed of your character can be increased with items. So instead of animating your legs actually moving faster, you more or less float faster with the same walking animation 😂
This is NOT a good game. Balance is non-existent. You can rank every single god in the game from worst to best, with NOTHING else making a difference. Line-ups mean nothing. There are no counters. There is only gods that are good, and gods that are bad. Beyond that, stuns are INSANELY op in this game. This game is filled to the brim with long-duration aoe stuns, with several characters have more than one of these too! The gameplay is pretty much just a game of red-hands with a lot of fluff; team fights always boil down to who hits the aoe stun first. Another problem is with how this game is run. You think the communities of Dota 2 and LoL are bad? Wait until you see Smite. The game is COMPLETELY UNMODERATED. You literally can't do ANYTHING to get yourself banned, and its obvious. You're going to be verbally abused by at least one, probably several, members of your own team for no reason in the reason. This problem is also further exacerbated by the match-making system. Simply put, it is NOT intended to give you a fair game (in the 2 or 3 years I played that game, I only ever had TWO matches that were actually fair fights, all the others were clearly one-sided, and equally as often in my favor or the enemy team). How it actually works, is it tracks your recent wins and losses and intentionally puts you into unfair match-ups to keep your winrate at 50%. Seriously. If you win games, the matchmaking will punish you by giving you incompetent allies and opponents that are above you in rank. If you lose, the system will give you increasing higher ranked allies and enemies below you in rank. This is why fights are always unfair; literally every single game you play is rigged to make you either win or lose depending on which will keep your winrate at 50%. As I said earlier, this feeds directly into the problem of trolling. Because everyone has a winrate of 50% no matter how good or bad they, everyone thinks they're a pro and they know what they're doing. Everyone thinks they know everything, because they win half the time and nothing they do changes that score; there is no reward for playing better, and no punishment for playing worse. Thus the overall skill of the player base is insanely low, and nobody knows it. Its like you're in elo hell in other mobas. No, this is a terrible game and TROLL-REZ (who seem to have recently changed their name from what it looks like) are some of the most sickening people you can imagine. I mean, they constantly promote obvious trolls to moderator status on their forum! This means that the staff themselves are the biggest source of trolling on the forums! Oh, and the developers don't play their own game, which means that they know NOTHING about its dynamics and constantly release patch changes that clearly have no rhyme or reason to them. This of course causes the meta to change widely and unpredictably every patch, and there's NO resemblence of balance anywhere. Also, when I played, they kept releasing more and more overpowered gods with each update. It got to the point where players were actually DREADING the release of a new god. Every patch, not only would they completely fuck-up the meta, but they would release some God that had 2 aoe stuns, 4 abilities that all interacted with eachother, and could easily solo the entire opposing team. When the next patch came out, they would nerf the previous god all to hell and then release something even more op. I still remember the release of Ratotoskr, and of course Sol. Oh my god, I can't forget Sol. She had an INSANELY op heal on her when she came out that literally made her indestructible. In one siege game, were trying to stop one from taking out our tower. She was taking tower shots, and were using EVERY ability and ult we had on her, and she endured all of that long enough to take down the tower with BASIC ATTACKS, and then casually walk away with FULL HP. Matches were literally nothing but a Sol player on each side, and both were playing like they couldn't die, because it was so overwhelmingly obvious that she couldn't. Of course, she got nerfed within just a few days, but that didn't stop them from releasing something else obviously op the next patch. It was just plain stupid. At the time people were seriously talking about how the game was dying because of what it had become. Even the developers were acting like the game was moribund, because it seemed like they were more interested in releasing INSANELY expensive cosmetic skins instead of trying to maintain the game. I don't know how the hell that game's still alive, or why Nintendo would allow such a bullshit game with such a sickening team behind it onto their platform. That 'game' was such a terrible experience, I seriously started to develope MENTAL PROBLEMS from my playing that game. I still refuse to play modern games to this very day, all because of Smite. Yes, Smite is why I'm a retro-gamer. After Smite, I just want NOTHING to do with ANY modern game or the companies that make them.
I mean when you have over 100 gods to play not every patch is going to touch ever god...but usually once a week the most over powered gods get a big nerf usually balancing out the game but your "no counters" arguement is completely invalid. The game is built on the premise of counter building your opponent. You playing against a super tanky team build penetration, playing against a healer build anti heal, playing against someone with a lot of health build items that take percentage damage to high heslth characters. Also the longest stun in the game is like 2 seconds with the exception of other forms of cc like mesmerize which stuns you for 6 seconds or until you take damage but hey remember what I mentioned about counter building? Build perification beads it makes you immune to cc. Or better yet build cc reduction which takes the amount of time your cc and cuts it in half. This game capitalizes on good menachics and strategic plays and harshly punishes bad players. So my guess is your not very good at smite and this is where your harsh opinion came from. The only thing I agree with is the smite community is very toxic. Other than that the rest is you not really understanding the full mechanics of the game.

Maaan. Hi-Rez and Evil Mojo loves the Switch. Look at that! It runs on 60fps. Doing good with their ports with Paladins and Smite.

The game regularly crashed and then when I tried to go back in it said I was timed out for 20 minutes or more.
Paladins had some issues. I've not had that here yet to be fair. (Mark)

xcel Maligat I main adc or support in smite, and with some practice aiming isn’t that hard on console. Just jack up that sensitivity ;)

The only thing that we could really mention about the switch port were the controls of the game, and the exclusives that you can get from the switch’s version of the founders pack. That review would only have been a few minutes at most. I’m sorry that you didn’t enjoy the review, but I found it challenging to review a game that didn’t necessarily have a story mode, or a definite end to it.

My biggest concern regarding any Moba Game is "how toxic is the community? I still have nightmares about my 2 hours experience playing LOL back in 1872.
Denis the community can be toxic if you aren’t the best. Smite makes it nice though because if you are newer it matches you with newer people who probably won’t be toxic. People really are only mean if you are intentionally throwing the game and trying to lose.
You can block, mute, and report people who are toxic. I believe that Nintendo has similar features that allow you to do the same.
Like any moba, it is bad when you start and gets better as you play. A quick fix is ALWAYS mute annoying people from the get go.

Guys you dont need to buy the founders pack. Instead save that and buy skins, when you find characters you like. I have never bought the founders pack, and never been restricted on playing gods. You can rent them any time, and you use points that you earn in game rent them.
The founders pack doesn’t just give you access to all the gods. You also get a limited skin, and some currency in the game as well. You can spend your in game currency on many other things instead of just renting the gods. I run out of my currency all the time buying mastery skins, and rerolling my god in assault. I am level 158/160 on pc, and eventually the in game currency starts really stacking up but it takes a long time, and I bought the founders pack the day that it was created years ago. You really don’t need to buy it, but it’s a very good way to support Hi Rez for making a great moba.

haime cayanan if you have a history of mobas you will like smite. I used to play league of legends, but God’s and the third person view swayed me to smite. I think it takes more skill to excel at this game and feels much more rewarding then league or dota does.

Different teams, Smite is under the control of team Titan Forge and is a much older game then paladins.

"Matches can last up to an hour or more." - if that's the case, you have done something very very wrong.
Most matches are about half an hour, with the very longest being *maybe* 45 minutes if both teams are derping.

I’ll never get to 1000 hours. Not because I don’t like the game, I love it a ton. But after 5-6 games, I DC and cannot reconnect. After finally reconnecting, I am greeted with a debuff for deserting a game that will last 1200 minutes. Nice.

Da-Le Gameplay I would probably play that game if the exp gained in game wasn’t shared with your party, and wasn’t a top down moba. I love most of blizzards games, just not that one sadly ◞‸◟. I’ve played too much of league in my younger life to want to go back to a top down moba. I play a lot of smite and Wow, which are both third person.

Smite in general. The founders just unlocks some stuff and gets you the game earlier
Daniel Ross I only really mentioned the founders pack because it has some content in it that is unique to the switch. The game is on every console including pc, but the Scylla skin that you get in the pack only exists on the switch. And the beta that the game is in is supposed to last until June I think, so the pack lets you play the game “on the go” much earlier then if you wait until it fully opens up for everyone else. The beta is just a bonus though, you really are purchasing the ability to play all of the gods instantly instead of unlocking them over months of playing the game. That’s the only purchase that I would recommend to anyone who plays smite. It’s the only moba on the market that offers a system like that. It’s sad if you play league, so not being able to play the newest champion released because you are short on cash ◞‸◟

I don't play a lot of multiplayers online games because I'm more of a single player guy but I kinda enjoy Paladins every now and then, Moji is my main not just because she's an adorable mage with a two headed dragon but also my favorite champion to use in matches even though I kinda a noob at that game still.
I always feel too intimated to try out Smite just because the overwhelming amount of god characters and I probably just plain suck at it.

Otherwise a very very good review but that remark about the graphics... do any of the reviewers actually know/remember what early 2000 games looked like? because so far I haven't run into a single one that does. I've seen people compare Sekiro to Ratchet and Clank (original) in terms of graphics. Eso to Oldschool Runescape. Witcher 3 to Resident Evil 3. Final Fantasy XV to Ninja Gaiden 3 and even Devil May Cry 5 to fucking Final Fantasy X...

the walk cycles are really awkward
Mi Do you get used to walking if you play. They all look sort of floaty since the movement speed of your character can be increased with items. So instead of animating your legs actually moving faster, you more or less float faster with the same walking animation 😂

This is NOT a good game. Balance is non-existent. You can rank every single god in the game from worst to best, with NOTHING else making a difference. Line-ups mean nothing. There are no counters. There is only gods that are good, and gods that are bad. Beyond that, stuns are INSANELY op in this game. This game is filled to the brim with long-duration aoe stuns, with several characters have more than one of these too! The gameplay is pretty much just a game of red-hands with a lot of fluff; team fights always boil down to who hits the aoe stun first.
Another problem is with how this game is run. You think the communities of Dota 2 and LoL are bad? Wait until you see Smite. The game is COMPLETELY UNMODERATED. You literally can't do ANYTHING to get yourself banned, and its obvious. You're going to be verbally abused by at least one, probably several, members of your own team for no reason in the reason. This problem is also further exacerbated by the match-making system. Simply put, it is NOT intended to give you a fair game (in the 2 or 3 years I played that game, I only ever had TWO matches that were actually fair fights, all the others were clearly one-sided, and equally as often in my favor or the enemy team). How it actually works, is it tracks your recent wins and losses and intentionally puts you into unfair match-ups to keep your winrate at 50%. Seriously. If you win games, the matchmaking will punish you by giving you incompetent allies and opponents that are above you in rank. If you lose, the system will give you increasing higher ranked allies and enemies below you in rank. This is why fights are always unfair; literally every single game you play is rigged to make you either win or lose depending on which will keep your winrate at 50%. As I said earlier, this feeds directly into the problem of trolling. Because everyone has a winrate of 50% no matter how good or bad they, everyone thinks they're a pro and they know what they're doing. Everyone thinks they know everything, because they win half the time and nothing they do changes that score; there is no reward for playing better, and no punishment for playing worse. Thus the overall skill of the player base is insanely low, and nobody knows it. Its like you're in elo hell in other mobas.
No, this is a terrible game and TROLL-REZ (who seem to have recently changed their name from what it looks like) are some of the most sickening people you can imagine. I mean, they constantly promote obvious trolls to moderator status on their forum! This means that the staff themselves are the biggest source of trolling on the forums! Oh, and the developers don't play their own game, which means that they know NOTHING about its dynamics and constantly release patch changes that clearly have no rhyme or reason to them. This of course causes the meta to change widely and unpredictably every patch, and there's NO resemblence of balance anywhere. Also, when I played, they kept releasing more and more overpowered gods with each update. It got to the point where players were actually DREADING the release of a new god. Every patch, not only would they completely fuck-up the meta, but they would release some God that had 2 aoe stuns, 4 abilities that all interacted with eachother, and could easily solo the entire opposing team. When the next patch came out, they would nerf the previous god all to hell and then release something even more op. I still remember the release of Ratotoskr, and of course Sol. Oh my god, I can't forget Sol. She had an INSANELY op heal on her when she came out that literally made her indestructible. In one siege game, were trying to stop one from taking out our tower. She was taking tower shots, and were using EVERY ability and ult we had on her, and she endured all of that long enough to take down the tower with BASIC ATTACKS, and then casually walk away with FULL HP. Matches were literally nothing but a Sol player on each side, and both were playing like they couldn't die, because it was so overwhelmingly obvious that she couldn't. Of course, she got nerfed within just a few days, but that didn't stop them from releasing something else obviously op the next patch. It was just plain stupid. At the time people were seriously talking about how the game was dying because of what it had become. Even the developers were acting like the game was moribund, because it seemed like they were more interested in releasing INSANELY expensive cosmetic skins instead of trying to maintain the game. I don't know how the hell that game's still alive, or why Nintendo would allow such a bullshit game with such a sickening team behind it onto their platform. That 'game' was such a terrible experience, I seriously started to develope MENTAL PROBLEMS from my playing that game. I still refuse to play modern games to this very day, all because of Smite. Yes, Smite is why I'm a retro-gamer. After Smite, I just want NOTHING to do with ANY modern game or the companies that make them.
I mean when you have over 100 gods to play not every patch is going to touch ever god...but usually once a week the most over powered gods get a big nerf usually balancing out the game but your "no counters" arguement is completely invalid. The game is built on the premise of counter building your opponent. You playing against a super tanky team build penetration, playing against a healer build anti heal, playing against someone with a lot of health build items that take percentage damage to high heslth characters. Also the longest stun in the game is like 2 seconds with the exception of other forms of cc like mesmerize which stuns you for 6 seconds or until you take damage but hey remember what I mentioned about counter building? Build perification beads it makes you immune to cc. Or better yet build cc reduction which takes the amount of time your cc and cuts it in half. This game capitalizes on good menachics and strategic plays and harshly punishes bad players. So my guess is your not very good at smite and this is where your harsh opinion came from. The only thing I agree with is the smite community is very toxic. Other than that the rest is you not really understanding the full mechanics of the game.
