I love the subtle shift in their chairs that the saxophones made when the trombones behind them stood up. Yeah, that 7th position can cause some serious head trauma.
One piccolo???
I thought the same….should be 3
Brava, Piccolo. Way to outplay 12 brass on the repeat.
The snare drummer at 3:00 seems to be enjoying himself! I like to see that sort of thing!
This is honestly my favorite recording of this piece anywhere ever. Wonderful job!
Hard to pick a favorite, given how well the Army and Navy bands play it, as well.
The piccolo player did a great job, but she was seriously outgunned and almost completely lost in the final repetition of the trio. The most successful performances have multiple piccolos.
@@johne6081 true but a lot of times tuning piccolos is really hard
@@timyang2996 Not to the degree that it should affect the instrumentation.
Really?! There are not only much better performances, but also better orchestrations. It’s odd that you’d land on this one. What specifically makes it better than the (literally) hundreds of other recordings?
@@robstockton2463 This seems very important to you. I wonder why that might be.
They put their hearts and souls into this great composition... every inch of their musical beings came out! Love this version!
3:15 I see you laughing in the back...
Very well done and for the convenience and information of you and others who view this, there are actually words for the main theme of this work, which begins at the 1:07 mark and they are below if you want to look them over while listening or sing along.
Hurrah for the flag of the free!
May it wave as our standard forever,
the gem of the land and the sea,
the banner of the right.
Let despots remember the day
when our fathers with mighty endeavor
proclaimed as they marched to the fray
that by their might and by their right it waves forever!

correction I shall go to Shohei Ohtani despite of many harassments & disturbances domestically and overseas!
Thank you very much! I shall go to Shohei Ohtani in spite of many harassments Shohei Ohtani in spite of many harassments and disturbances! I am very energized
Only one piccolo player for the signature part of this march? With a band of this size, there should have been at least three, and ideal number would have been four.
our high school symphonic band had the seniors play that part and there were 5 seniors in the flute section...also memorized
And strange that she doesn’t have it memorized. Even most high school band flutists would already know the pic part.

Wow. So Wonderful.
BRAVO!!!!
Piccs get to shine here. She is good.
Actually she had a wrong note (which is why she smiled briefly), and most any pic player has this bit memorized. And she doesn’t really “shine” in any case, as she’s entirely overpowered by the ensemble.
Not able to hear the piccolo solo.
