One factor is the blueprints. The 26s must be obtained with faction credits. Sure they’re fairly cheap in this regard, but I build 5 26s last slb (I’m ops 47) & it starts to add up. The BP for 28s-34s can be obtained organically via grinding. Just one more thing to factor into your personal calculus.
Yes. Rev has mention a number of times that one of the down sides to the current Borg grind is that it impacts faction credit sourcing. Now, I think this comes from his desire to use faction credits to keep buying ship bps for the 26's. But here's the rub. You still need to source the 3* mats to build them, and when you hit Ops 40, the event sourcing for those dry up quite a bit. So I can't see how Rev's sustains the pace to "always" be scrapping (at least not free-to-play). Is there something I'm missing?
@@seattlefoodcritic ok, I'm Ops 42, and still got the last tier of my Augur to go. T9'd my Ent only this month. I've maxed my efficiencies but I don't feel like I've got spare 3* for scrapping quite yet. Would that be the difference?

Quick comment from a 56,soon to be 57. Most.of us get into a ton of armadas. And thus have tons of free epic g3 ships that we can upgrade without using faction creds to acquire a mayflower. I'm a level 51 now, and I've been scrapping g3 epics for the last several months. It's exactly as you've said. Saving the faction credits for other stuff(like the 53 uc ships)
@@JustinStrife How do you source the 3* needed to upgrade? I'm currently 41 and struggling with reliably sourcing 3* - especially for more expensive stuff like upgrading G3 epics past T6 ....

I’m lvl 47, almost 48. I stopped counting the number of 26’s that I have scrapped because it’s an absolutely ridiculous number. I have scrapped 28’s and now I’m about to scrap my old 32’s because they are almost maxed anyway and they are just sitting there. Scrapping has literally saved me 1000’s of dollars in this game. My reasoning for scrapping has changed from upgrading ships to ops pushing. However I also need to save all of the faction credits that I can for the 50’s. So if I earn a set of bps I max and scrap it no matter what, because credits are more important to me right now.
could be that, I also think it might be something like they are worried that a person like me will refine latinum and probes and away team credits on the 26 faction ship BPs to where they get around a ship a week, build and tier and level up the next week and then scrap using speedups that would likely be a part of the XP grind. as it is latinum can replace the faction credit and ship XP grind if you have that king of stock 300k latinum will get you a Mayflower, Legionare, or D3.
Keep in mind the faction credit costs: 10K for level 26, 20K for level 28 (uncommon), 60K for level 32 (rare) and 180K for level 36 (epic). If you're focusing on one faction and just doing make-work on the others, it's probably a good idea to use your non-focused faction as a source since ships will get more and more expensive (i.e. if you're working Romulans, maybe use the Klingons or Federation credits to build ships for scrapping). You can sometimes supplement this by PVE/armada chests or away team rewards but that's at the mercy of the RNG gods. I usually have a couple of ships queued up for scrapping (or to help with Faction Hunt events - you get points for leveling up ships). I'm level 54 but I like upgrading, and G4 rares are especially worth investing in. If you get to G5, remember that the G5 uncommons (Corvus/Northcutt/Vor'cha) are bargains at 450K credits (and you get a few bps from missions), but the G5 rares are 1.05 million each, and the G5 epics almost 2 million. Yikes.
Thank you! Probably one of your best and most relevant videos, especially considering where most are today level-wise. For me, at 46, I just finished scrapping my first Brel to feed my Korinar and was about to build/max/scrap another one this weekend for the Hugh SLB. Now, I'm not sure if it'll be a Centurion or a Mayflower instead. People have mentioned faction credits in comments, but time spent leveling up is also a consideration there cause ship XP eventually runs out and latinum is better spent elsewhere.
9:37 Ok I love what you are saying. But what about the other main missing part-- where are the best places to farm for said ships? Because drop efficiency is a time factor in the game as well
