I was always told it was about a bear in the wild who was facing all of the changes brought by humans urbanizing the forests and stuff. But thats pretty deep too!
"This is a song about anxiety, built on the metaphor of a bear displaced by a town being built on the edge of his forest. It's the one song on the album that doesn't “resolve,” which for me is a representation of anxiety itself. It's an overwhelming feeling of helplessness that channels through nervousness, desperation, anger and numbness all at once, and usually very suddenly. I don't want to glorify a negative influence, and it's my hope that by writing this, I and others can actually better handle it through understanding." -Trenton
This band needs millions of views, and all the fame in the world. Humble, amazing talent. Real lyrics, and a VERY marketable sound. Why can't this music be the stuff that is on the radio every day?
Because the masses are mindless, those like you and I and the "few" others (in comparison to the masses) who follow true talented musicians/bands like HLH are among the minority- but its an elitist club because we're so demanding of a higher quality of music for ourselves
this is one of the rare occasions when, not only is the music and lyricism exquisite, but both the rock and acoustic versions are nearly incomparable in the fact that it's hard to choose which one you like better. they're both absolutely amazing. edit: 5 years later, lots of life lived and things changed, and it is still my favorite song. this will be played at my funeral.
I haven't ever listened to the version in this video until now, but I've listened to the album version so many times. Jesus this is giving me chills. It's so much more raw and emotional, which seems impossible after how emotionally charged it already was to begin with. Never stop being amazing guys.
I love what they did to the song musically. The other version is great too though. Hard for me to decide which I like better. I definitely thought the other music video was better just because it was original, simple and powerful. I always find myself thinking of the video when I listen to the tune.
The guitar is so calming, but his vocals and the meaning in the lyrics makes this song so sad. The hability this guys have to make great and deep music is off the charts.
Here are the lyrics : Pry the darkness from my eyes Divided, let the light seep in Trees devoid of branches and hollow hives Endless black and empty beds It's not the same, something's changed I never used to be able to see past the trees A thousand unfamiliars are lying thick on the air And I can't breathe Is our skin to keep the world out or our bodies in? This doesn't look like home; This doesn't look like home Is our skin to keep the world out or our bodies in? I'll tear apart the town then sleep, then sleep alone If I'm a flame, I'm a forest fire Speaking savage tongues as I emerge from the hills I am an avalanche I am unchained, I'm awoken, I'll unleash hell So I roar, pin back my ears and stone by stone I'll tear it all, I'll tear it apart Is our skin to keep the world out or our bodies in? This doesn't look like home; This doesn't look like home Is our skin to keep the world out or our bodies in? I'll tear apart the town then sleep, then sleep alone I've lost faith, the forest's changed My stomach's empty, I'm feeling faint I've lost heart, the forest's scarred I hear no birds, just TVs, and cars I've lost faith, the forest's changed My stomach's empty, I'm feeling faint I've lost sight, the forest's died The brambles are bare, and I'm hollow inside Each breath rattles like dice in my chest Each breath gambled, unwinding 'til death Is our skin to keep the world out or our bodies in? This doesn't look like home; This doesn't look like home Is our skin to keep the world out or our bodies in? I'll tear apart the town then sleep, then sleep alone
These guys are disgustingly underrated. Absolute best aussie band going without a doubt Each breath rattles like dice in my chest Each breath gambled, unwinding 'til death Unbelieve lyrics honestly. 10/10
I don't remember how I stumbled upon this band last year, but boy am I glad I did. I continue to be amazed by the talent in this band. Keep it up guys!
i forgot about this song and band and it was killing me for years cause i was obsessed with this song but lost my music. i just spent the last 2 hours searching hard trying to remember...im so happy i found it again.
absolutely beautiful. mesmerising. i am completely captivated each time i listen to this and with each time i fall more in love with this. well done guys. no other band captivates me like you do and thus i am proud to call hands like houses my favourite band. and you guys are aussie so massive bonus there haha
Someone put a short preview of this song at the end of a PVRIS music video and it stuck withe me. Took me about an hour of searching up lyrics, after it randomly played when I was gaming. I thought it was Bert at first.
I thought this was a little to calm and slow for me but I love it! His voice is just incredible to put words to it... It's gotta be a crime to be that hot lol. I'm just saying :-P
THIS is progression. Idgaf what people say. There IS a way to artistically move foreword, without shitting all over your original fan base, the ones you owe almost everything to in the first place. They've done it. I'm curious to see what they're next album is gonna sound like...
This song is about anxiety and now, with the echo effect, you feel it more. You can feel the loneliness. It's just perfect.
I was always told it was about a bear in the wild who was facing all of the changes brought by humans urbanizing the forests and stuff. But thats pretty deep too!
Yeah that was the metaphor used it I believe.

Goodnews! They're on the radio 📻
mad234luiz no Way! Really? Their new album was barely released on tidal I wasn't able to find it anywhere at all before this.
They’ve had songs be used in the NHL and WWE now, plus the NRL in Aus
I will ALWAYS keep coming back to this 💙
Only true artists will recognize how delightful and satisfying this piece of music is
this is one of the rare occasions when, not only is the music and lyricism exquisite, but both the rock and acoustic versions are nearly incomparable in the fact that it's hard to choose which one you like better. they're both absolutely amazing.

+Ki11erCorey He makes the acoustic version sound so different it almost seems like a different song
i really love the way he says home its like: This doesnt look like horme
Because they're Australian 😊
hahah from the back of my throat
Remeber listening to this song right around when it first came out ... Still jamming it in 2024

@@AussieDownUnder Hell yeah brother
his voice fits this song perfectly with the acoustic...easily one of my favorites already
I haven't ever listened to the version in this video until now, but I've listened to the album version so many times. Jesus this is giving me chills. Hara H. Haha same man.. Still listening to this and it’s been 3 years
the guitar work reminds me a lot of explosions in the sky post rock. its so awesome
I love what they did to the song musically. The other version is great too though. Hard for me to decide which I like better. I definitely thought the other music video was better just because it was original, simple and powerful. I always find myself thinking of the video when I listen to the tune.
Just don't chose which one is better.
the original wins because of the synth-theme duing the chorus
Agreeddddd
Tyler Roerick Very good point! haha
I get the point but if the ladie was NOT singing in the other music video, it would NOT be so freaking ruined and annoying. ☺ TGIF!! ✌
oh my FUCK this was my favourite song off Unimagine, and now THERE ARE TWO DIFFERENT ONES OF MY FAVOURITE AND I'M SO FUCKING HAPPY THANK YOU!!!!
Nothing but pure love for these guys and everything they do! Always a favorite
such an amazing song!!! I can't describe how it makes me feel.....
I keep coming back to this version. Absolutely breathtaking.
That was amazing. A beautifully slow piece from such a terrific band. Great job HLH with the song. And, great job Rise Records with the video. :)
Everything about this song is perfect. The lyrics, the music, the vocals
The beat in this makes the lyrics flow much smoother.
The guitar is so calming, but his vocals and the meaning in the lyrics makes this song so sad. The hability this guys have to make great and deep music is off the charts.
when i thought this song could never get better, u guys come and proved me wrong.
Here are the lyrics :
Pry the darkness from my eyes
Divided, let the light seep in
Trees devoid of branches and hollow hives
Endless black and empty beds
It's not the same, something's changed
I never used to be able to see past the trees
A thousand unfamiliars are lying thick on the air
And I can't breathe
Is our skin to keep the world out or our bodies in?
This doesn't look like home; This doesn't look like home
Is our skin to keep the world out or our bodies in?
I'll tear apart the town then sleep, then sleep alone
If I'm a flame, I'm a forest fire
Speaking savage tongues as I emerge from the hills
I am an avalanche
I am unchained, I'm awoken, I'll unleash hell
So I roar, pin back my ears and stone by stone
I'll tear it all, I'll tear it apart
Is our skin to keep the world out or our bodies in?
This doesn't look like home; This doesn't look like home
Is our skin to keep the world out or our bodies in?
I'll tear apart the town then sleep, then sleep alone
I've lost faith, the forest's changed
My stomach's empty, I'm feeling faint
I've lost heart, the forest's scarred
I hear no birds, just TVs, and cars
I've lost faith, the forest's changed
My stomach's empty, I'm feeling faint
I've lost sight, the forest's died
The brambles are bare, and I'm hollow inside
Each breath rattles like dice in my chest
Each breath gambled, unwinding 'til death
Is our skin to keep the world out or our bodies in?
This doesn't look like home; This doesn't look like home
Is our skin to keep the world out or our bodies in?
I'll tear apart the town then sleep, then sleep alone
This song....definitely helping me through a hard time. I'm just now hearing it and I have no idea how it's not up in the millions
These guys are disgustingly underrated. Absolute best aussie band going without a doubt
Each breath rattles like dice in my chest
Each breath gambled, unwinding 'til death
Unbelieve lyrics honestly. 10/10

This is such a great song. His voice is great. I love the rawness in it.
I love how the missing melody in the chorus lets you hear it subliminally
I literally listen to this song AT LEAST once a day and I'm still not tired of it
been awhile since i heard this, i really don’t know what brought me here but man, happy to be here again
I don't remember how I stumbled upon this band last year, but boy am I glad I did. I continue to be amazed by the talent in this band. Keep it up guys!

the brambles are bare and I'm hollow inside-so beautiful
