Do you know the story of the Jesus understudy for some church production of the resurrection of Christ? The original Jesus was supposed to ascend gracefully to heaven in front of the crowd but got the flu or something opening night. The understudy weighed way less than him and someone forgot to rebalance the rigging. So picture this kid playing Jesus, about to slowly and gracefully ascend while giving a speech or something, and instead just SHOOTS LIKE A ROCKET INTO THE RAFTERS.

Another "West Side Story" Story: During "Gee, Officer Krupke" you know how every verse except one starts with "Deeeeeaaaaaarrrrrr" and that one starts with "My..." well when I went to see a production of it. The guy who had that one verse accidentally started it like the other verses and to compensate he started making things up, I swear to god some of the words probably weren't even real words

Man, a musical theatre channel wouldn't be complete without a video with a mishap with the props and the actors trying to compensate for it.

Lol, I was just in a production of WSS, and up until opening night, during the song "Gee, Officer Krupke", the guy who played Baby John would always mispronounce his name as "Krumke", which would piss off the director and the actors listening. The second night, however, he finally got the name "Krupke" right, and when he said that, the entire green room cheered loudly for him.

What a twist for one of the most devastating endings in any opera or musical! Now I am imagining Sweeney Todd killing Mrs. Lovett with a poison boot when the oven doors won't open, and then nudging the boot to Tobias for (as I interpret it, and as it is done in the original production) his suicide-by-deranged-mentally-ill-abuse-victim. Or how about Madama Butterfly not being able to find the knife with which her father committed seppuku, and hitting herself over the head with a poison boot at the massive tam-tam stroke? Brünnhilde not being able to ride onto Siegfried's funeral pyre, but rather riding her poor horse Grane into a pile of poison boots, which then topples over onto Walhalla? Don Jose forgetting his prop knife and throwing a poison boot at Carmen? The possibilities are endless!

If this scene happens in the Spielberg version, I will deem it a worthy remake.

I thought after watching this how funny it'll be if all musicals that had a gun scene will use a poisonous boot. Then I remembered the gun dance scene in Hamilton.... omfg 😂

True story: in high school I directed a play and in the first scene a woman kills her husband with a gun. Well one performance the gun jammed. The actor playing the man, still in character, tried to get the gun working again but couldn't. So he handed the gun back to her and told her, still in character "just shoot me." She pulled the trigger; he yelled *"BANG!"* and dropped down dead.

Hilariously, Maria herself didn't have to use the boot. Since in the original play she never fires the gun, she could have just picked up the prop gun and carried on as normal.
