    Great times.Due to nostalgia I find myself with an old school bmx collection now,slightly more expensive than 1984,but equally as enjoyable.

    (1984) looks all so dated now, but lots of fun! the potts mod hasn't been invented yet(85) and the acs rotor hasnt come into being either, that was released a year later(86)... these were the most important things to happen in BMX! without them no one could do bar spins, tailwhips and decades!!! 1986-88 everything changed and evolved into what you see now ;)

    We lived it large (B.M.X. style ).back in the day (80s)....First gen bike's... not the best, but progressed.....hence P.k.ripper, + G.T.s.... now we're talking. Mags,+ spokes,wheels...super whip framework.....that's how we rolled....get u some 😂...big love and big respect

    An all alluminum frame Skyway race bike weighed what 12-15 lbs? You had to order those from a catalogue based in California. A whole bike would set you back $800 back in the 1980s.

    I wanted a Diamondback, then I wanted a Mongoose, then I ended up with a Predator. Think I got it in 83 or 84. Had it stolen in 86 or 87. I had a car by then but still pissed me off to this day. I traded in my 5 Speed Stingray on that bike...wish I still had the Stingray.

    Trick narrator reminds me of Mark Owen. Desperately wants to be American by the sounds of it, too 😂.

    Back when the bikes looked amazing and anyone over 30, like the narrator, sounded really really sad!! I feel sorry for the teens and twenty somethings of the 90s and later because everything is just so ugly and boring, and everything is just a watered down version of what we did.

      they were that high because flatlanders back then used every part of the bike for tricks, they didnt just spin in one direction for 10 mins on one wheel.. its not a unicycle.

      We rode a couple miles to homemade dirt tracks so a high seat helped for the long ride. Stashing an allen wrench under the pads was always cool to lower it when needed .

  • @woodystorey

    It’s either BMX or its freestyle....BMX is racing on a specially made track, and the riders decide who the winners are by winning the RACE!. The freestylers have a set of judges looking at the tricks they do to determine a winner!......BMX is not freestyle, freestyle isn’t BMX....amd neither is park or flatland styles of riding....

    • @th45h1zn1t
      @th45h1zn1t  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      woodystorey Thanks for that detailed explanation. I don’t think they thought too deeply about the title back in ‘84 ;)

    • @woodystorey
      @woodystorey 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Darren Cousins....yeah, that’s probably true...It’s just one of those little things that has always kinda bugged me, because what freestylers do and what racers do is totally different, different skill sets. BMX is racing and freestyle is.....well, freestyle...
