You are the most skilled aquarium artist I've ever seen brother. If I had the money I'd pay u so much to build me an entire animal room n I'd just sit in there for hours escaping the hustle n bustle of life lol
The forest floor is so underrated. All the levels of life and decomposition, a perfect balance. Thank you for creating this miniature world. I’m captivated!
In Danish they are called "Bench biters", referring to their culinary love for old wooden outdoor benches. I have a colony myself but since they love to hide when lights are on, not much life to observe ;)

I don't know why, but this build brought back some of the best memories from my childhood. Who knew there was so much nostalgia hidden under a log? I love the atmosphere that a setup like this creates - thank you so much for the video, Tanner! (Btw, I always called them rollie pollies. Don't remember where I got the name, but it's kinda fun!)
As someone who loves and breeds Isopods, this makes me extremely happy. Thanks for this awesome video Tanner! :) PS: It's easier for the Isopods to eat dead leaves. Can't really tell how fresh the leaf litter is in this video, but it doesn't look 100% favorable. But if u want to go for a more natural and fancy look with fresher leaves it will still somewhat do the trick.

Denmark has a fun and wierd term for Isopods, which is the most used term in everyday use: "Bænkebiddere", meaning "Bench Biters", given that the are often found on the underside of wooden benches which are often humid and in a early state of decomposition.

I barely saw them for about 4 months other than when they were eating and then suddenly one day there was just juvenile isopods everywhere! I’ve now learned that even with regular feeding isopods will still happily eat begonias I’m not complaining though because they are some pretty cool lil guys.
Idk if you've seen them but Tanner has recently uploaded two separate videos about isopods and their care, including one dedicated to a full fledged isopod terrarium :) and the other is a cost effective guide to keeping them in bins :)
rolly polly!!! that's what we called them growing up in Southeast Texas! Just discovered your channel and made our first terrarum!! LOVE what you do! thanks!!!
What a coincidence, I'm currently editing my video on my isopod terrarium build. Will be live in like a half hour. Ofcourse mine looks terrible compared to yours 😂 Looks amazing!
Hey Tanner first of all I want to thank you for your calm and relaxing videos. I love your style and think that your scapes are really some special art. I am very excited for your upcoming projects and I am wondering if you ever considered doing something saltwater Aquaristic related. I would love to see you scaping with corals and building reefs. Greetings from Germany :)
Your isopod series is my favorite. I cannot wait to see more of your poly bugs out on display. I actually named my dog Bug because when he was a little puppy he curled up like a potato bug in a toboggan I owned. Thank you for the wonderful video, Mr. Serpa. I'll keep coming back for this one especially, and your video on care and your newest with the rubber duckies. 🦐
All of your videos have inspired me to start doing terrariums as my hobby. I have finally set one up using everything in your how to video and even going outside to scrounge around for springtails to make a colony from.
All it takes for me to know a video is yours is the first split second that my eyes Landon your thumbnail. You have such an identifiable panoramic style this translates beautifully to every project you do. ❤️
Nice! A question: for the moss on the background would it make sense to blend, I mean literary with a blender, some moss, pure yogurt, and some soil/manure and "paint" it over the places you want it to grow?
I wouldn’t use the yogurt, seems like it’d just make mold and not smell great in a tiny enclosured environment lol. I know that it works perfectly to grind up aquatic moss and some soil to dry start it in a tank. I’m sure that it would work for some terrestrial moss too, but it’d probably have to be a very humid environment for the first little while.
This showed up a couple of hours after I made my first isopod tank. Been dreading to watch it ever since because I knew it'd put my effort to shame. SO much inspiration though! Thanks a lot, I'm definitely going to rescape mine in the near future!
Armadillidiums and other conglobating (curling into ball) species I call roly poly. Not so much for Porcellio and others that don’t conglobate. Woodlice or slater fits better. Maybe sowbug.
You captured that specific forest mood well. It will look even more amazing when the moss has grown in. I almost expect to see glowing mushrooms in there. Beautiful. Lucky isopods!
we called them sow bugs and pill bugs growing up but nobody could ever agree so you've helped me rename them Isopods. I hear you say it whenever I see them out and about :) I think they're so cute now and I had no idea they were so diverse!
