    So, Travis the chimp was being neglected by Sandra after her husband and daughter died. She fed him Xanax, alcohol and junk food. With his living conditions he was bound to snap, it’s so unfortunate that this situation happened at all

    • @YodaDaGoat69

      Really?! I've seen a documentary about this incident on TH-cam before, and NEVER did the guy mention he was neglected. I'm not sure if you're telling the truth tho. Is there proof of this or???

      these people tried to domesticated wild animals and surprised it didn't work. I hated people stupidity like first one. They think they can say excuse me to these wild predators? there's a zoo used cars, so the wild animals can roam around freely but one dumbass woman went outside. I don't remember the exact story either her daughter or daughter in law died tried to save her after lion attacked them. Idk the zoo is still on business or not.
      they thought they're disney princess can tame/domesticate these wild animals. What's upset why these animals didn't attack their stupid owners.

      Also the local cops kept dismissing claims with Travis and a handler said once he matures you need to let them around other chimps to get the proper enrichment.
      Than they pushed Travis too far by hitting a adolescent Travis and he clapped back and was shoot by cops.

  • @_aceofspades
    @_aceofspades หลายเดือนก่อน +580

    Yeah. There’s a reason that wild Chimps have a shoot on sight order. They’re smart, deadly, and people often misunderstand their body language. There’s also the fact that Travis had been given Xanax and other medication and was treated like a human instead of an animal (which is more harmful than you might think).

    *As someone with a dog with behavioral issues, it is NOT in how you raise them*
    I have 3 dogs, all of which we've had as a puppies but our mini Aussie has been showing signs of aggressive tendencies since he was young.
    Severely animal aggressive, food/resource guarding (that includes his personal space), hates being told no, will growl/bare his teeth even at us, and when he's tired (from a walk, noon, or after playing he will be more grumpy).
    Tho the hard part about owning dogs with behavioral issues is he's not always like that 24/7 or for days, (he's one of the sweetest dogs so cuddly and smart) one day he's fine with training with treats with our other dogs around while the next he'll start growling if our other dog is in the kitchen with him while he's eating, he could be playing with our other dog one day and the next unprovoked attack her if she so much as walks by him (she's a Rottie mix so she's not getting hurt).
    It's just difficult owning dogs like these and even more so getting so emotionally attached to them which results in owners not deciding to put them down for behavioral euthanasia.
    How long can you manage dogs like these, are they actually improving, is there a neurological issue, how much of a risk are they to you and others, and is the dog truly having a good quality of life are all factors that go into making the decision.

    • @river_3404
      @river_3404 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      I also have a dog with behavioral issues, such as reactivity, I got him as a three-month-old puppy and he originally was great, as he got older though he became reactive. A lot of it has to do with genetics and as soon as Kenji said "fluffy frenchie" which is a backyard bred out of standard dog breed, I have a pretty good idea that its behavior may be linked to its genetics

    • @introvertedequinesamsara6593
      @introvertedequinesamsara6593 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @river_3404 100%, my cousin was the one who originally got him but he ended up becoming my dog. She definitely got him from some type of backyard breeder as not only does he have these aggressive issues (definitely genetic) but his knees used to pop out of place alot (has greatly decreased since he's matured and joint supplements).
      When he was a teen/pup he was so much worse and we had to have the talk about pretentially putting him down, he's my first ever dog with behavioral issues and has changed so much how I view dogs with behavioral issues and correction tools.
      Those who've never owned these type of dogs honestly just don't get it, they can not be fixed with just love. (Some just can't be fixed/trained out of it either)
      Getting emotionally attached to a dog with behavioral issues isn't something I wish even on my worst enemy.
      ...
      Side note one of the vets at my work has a French bulldog named Herbert (nickname Hermie), he's a asshole too lol. You have to grab him when taking him out of his cage or he'll run around the whole kennel trying to fight the other dogs threw the bars and if you anger him he'd let you know, tho he'd cuddle up next to the other daycare dogs too.
      Honestly I'd take an aggressive small dog over an aggressive large dogs, they're so much easier to manage and handle idk how people do it with bigger aggressive dogs. 😓

    Deer aren't necessarily dumb, they're just unable to see straight ahead because their eyes are on the sides of their head (basically a blindspot), they also bob and sway their head sometimes to compensate for their lack of frontal vision. This explains why they constantly crash into windows (as the reflection from it shows the outside, so they believe it to be just that) and collide with cars so often.

    I was once randomly attacked by a family member dog once, it happened as a child and I thankfully have no memory of it.
    But according to my mom, I was just in the front yard of the family member house. Playing by myself and she was watching me from the front door, well the family dog was in the fenced in yard. But managed to escape.
    Immediately came for me, I was literally just sitting in the yard. Though luckily enough the dog didn't actually injure me besides one of his teeth piercing my skin. And my mom and the owner of the dog immediately came out and while my mom got me the owner got the dog and locked the dog up in the house.
    I do have a tiny part of skin on my forearm where it dips in from missing flesh and the skin atop it is completely smooth and no hair grows their. I for a long time thought that it was from the metal part of a seatbelt burning me as a child.
    But nope, found out only a few months ago it was from a dog attacking me since when we were visiting a gift shop somewhere the family member was their and didn't recognize me until my mom straight up said "your dog was the one who bit my daughter when she was a child."
    The dog according to the family member has become more aggressive ever since that day.

    Someone already commented some really important background on Travis, but I just wanted to add that Sandra viewed Travis as her son, and only months earlier she lost her only kid and husband in a car accident. Travis was 200lb and obese, grieving, and not being cared for properly. His family made him act like a person, which definitely messed up his psychology. Chimps are wild animals who handle conflict aggressively, they don’t belong in houses, wearing jeans, or acting.
