Or it's because a majority of the people into rap is not looking for some deep lyrics, but rather just good flow and punchlines and to be fair while Akala is good, there's many people just as good, if you ignore lyrical content.

So true!!! I hope in twenty years these lyrics dont hit so hard because things have changed and not because things are the same and people still dont know this knowledge
Not actually true, of course. there's tonnes of archeological research done on the celts. A very popular period of culture to study. I know what he means, though. There aren't nearly enough people interested in the countries history. Of course, the celts were invaders of the land just like the Germanics, Normans, Scandinavians etc. They too came from across the sea, and did to the beaker people what the Roamns and Germanics would do to them.
The brythonics (Welsh) we're native to this island recent study's on DNA prove that they are a mixture of Hunter gatherers that got stranded here after the last ice age and migratingmm tribes from the Basque region.
Brythonic is a linguistic definition, not a genetic one. And it describes linguistic groups from Brittany, Cornwall, Strathclyde (now defunct) and Cumbria (only used in counting sheep these day). the celts came from the continent. These lands were inhabited by the beaker people prior to that. And they must have come from somewhere. Humanity began in Africa, remember. There are no native Brits.
+Iamatreee if you find barbarianism something to celebrate yeh top prize you raped murdered extorted went and stole children to sell as slaves erm fucked most countries over for all their resources and set the countries back into a dark age. Then sit there calling them for their lack of progression. Invite people to come help the country out of a depression after a war they massively helped us to win by doing the jobs the natives were toooo good for, subject them to years of torment then call them immigrants. Erm we sent murderers and rapists to one of the loveliest continents in the world Australia quickly started to oppress the aborigines natives even stole their children and did horrible things too them and the ones that survived got released into "white society" and they either killed themselves or ended up in mental institutions due to the fear of their horrific experiences. To top it of in the resource rich east of Australia they kicked a massive population of aboriginal people
damn !!! just recently gave the uk scene ( am from the uk ) a chance and a must admit that ive been sleeping for a long while , my ears and brain are loving this
we need more rappers like Akala bringing knowledge to the masses. He makes a revolutionary critique of society, so of course he will remain unknown for a long time. Hopefully he has the courage not to sell out, he has a good head on his shoulders. I remember he once had a line saying something along the lines of not comparing him to revolutionaries, because he is just a rapper thus far. I hope he does contribute to the revolutionary movement as a cultural worker. Rebellion is justified!
Yeah, I know. But it's futile. The biggest demographic don't want decent, well-researched lyrics like Akala's. They want banal, brainless shit like Folrida, Pitbull, Tinie Tempah and all those talentless cretins who make millions from twelve year-olds spending their parents cash on i-tunes. That's never ever going to change.
True. Just a shame that talentless pricks like Florida, Tinie Talent (Tempah) and Pitbull get respected because some music producer made a song for them to do some shitty lyrics to.
Akala's arguments are amazingly powerful simply because of the content in them. He presents them with facts that can't be denied, just interpreted differently. It's not that he's "intellectually advanced" or whatever...he just has more factual information than normal people and slams it on the table like the Hulk and says, "now what? Say something!" Fortunately, he's right. So, I got no quibbles.
Carlos Howell they actually have very similar messages about classism and self-hate, kanye is just not as good at articulating himself so is misunderstood
Akala, I don't know if you'll ever see this, but I want you to know how much you have and do mean to the movement. Especially in these times, where we're on the verge of either global awakening or global genocide, your words keep me going. They strengthen me when I'm on the street fighting. And when those who have been sleeping ask me what it will take to wake up, I send them to your music and say "first listen; then read; then fucking LEARN." Knowledge IS power. And so many would rather take OUR power than do the work to claim their own. I wonder if they're afraid of it; afraid of their own power, and that makes them afraid of us. Because we don't have to steal it. We got it. Please keep spittin truth fam.
Thank you so much I've been listening to your albums, fire in the booths, sbtvs, daily duppy etc. hundreds of times an they have all given me so much knowledge & understanding. I'm so grateful for everything you've done especially in the sense of how it has benefited me as an individual. Thank you from australia!

"we live on Celtic land but we don't learn about the Celts"
I couldn't agree more. It's what the British empire was built on (that and slavery). And yet people still speak of our imperial past with pride.
Man you made me break down in tears cus you just scripted my life in one song ,much love brother
Get him back in the booth for part 4 pronto
Snm
+Joddy p lol got it. wasn't *that* impressed
If I could, I'd play this on every large screen around the world.
This Deserves A Lot More Views. Knowledge Is Power.
Love the lyrics.. Truth in every syncopated syllable. Keep on keeping on Akala.
Amazing, why ain't Akala more popular?
Why? Because he's so good. You have to be shit to be a pop star. Haven't you heard the'music' in the charts? Only the shittiest stuff sells.
moodini99 No, because he's trying to change a system that doesn't want to be changed.
That's never ever going to change.
for real, but fuck it, akala has enough to get by, and we get to listen to his truly amazing music, win win situation for everyone!
True. Just a shame that talentless pricks like Florida, Tinie Talent (Tempah) and Pitbull get respected because some music producer made a song for them to do some shitty lyrics to.
That! Was truly epic
Truthfully* :3
Out of curiosity, where are you from? :) Just want to see the extend of Akala's prestige.
Oxford UK
2shotslol How the hell the same background? =) =/
I KasperioS I Same minds think a like
second part gets me everytime, too deep
absolute power corrupts absolutely but absolute powerlessness does the same..... absolute MADNEESSSSSSSSSS
Scrolling down the recommended videos bar and thinking, none of these rappers deserve to be on the same page as Akala. Differently under rated.
2023 and it still resonates
"Like Carlin or Bill HIcks" Gotta love it.
definitely my favourite U.K artist. apparently most humans use only 5% of their brains Akala obviously isn't one of them.
+ucanthandledatruth01 humans use the full 100% of their brain, just not at the same time ;)
+JustSwizzY we talking about intensity not capacity bro
His brain uses 5% of him 😂
Akala's arguments are amazingly powerful simply because of the content in them. He presents them with facts that can't be denied, just interpreted differently. It's not that he's "intellectually advanced" or whatever...he just has more factual information than normal people and slams it on the table like the Hulk and says, "now what? Say something!"
Fortunately, he's right. So, I got no quibbles.
Still the best FitB I’ve seen. Education. Knowledge is power. Always. Akala goes beat mode any time he drops in the booth. Real ones know.
Akala is unbelievable!!!
This incredible man is overlooked, as Kanye West steals oxygen.
Carlos Howell they actually have very similar messages about classism and self-hate, kanye is just not as good at articulating himself so is misunderstood
@@RM-re9ry Maybe, but i have more faith Akala would practice what he preaches. Kanye endorsed trump so personally I think hes full of shit.
@@MAD2CANS agreed on every point
"Back in school days wearing hand me downs from my sister, and gyal was still onto man, now that's some ras charisma" fucking genius haha!
just so deep man. every time i watch this, it just gets better.
Akala, I don't know if you'll ever see this, but I want you to know how much you have and do mean to the movement. Especially in these times, where we're on the verge of either global awakening or global genocide, your words keep me going. They strengthen me when I'm on the street fighting. And when those who have been sleeping ask me what it will take to wake up, I send them to your music and say "first listen; then read; then fucking LEARN."
Knowledge IS power. And so many would rather take OUR power than do the work to claim their own. I wonder if they're afraid of it; afraid of their own power, and that makes them afraid of us. Because we don't have to steal it. We got it.
Please keep spittin truth fam.
Read it g 💯🤞
amazing
How is this not even at a million views 😴
knowledge is power
Thank you so much I've been listening to your albums, fire in the booths, sbtvs, daily duppy etc. hundreds of times an they have all given me so much knowledge & understanding. I'm so grateful for everything you've done especially in the sense of how it has benefited me as an individual. Thank you from australia!
Akala. One of the few of the greatest hip hop artists of all time. I wish I could meet this man.
Absolute power corrupts absolutely but absolute powerless does the same
"its not the poverty, its the inequality will live in everyday that will turn us insane"... damn
yeeaahh BIll Hicks shoutout
akala is a treausre to hiphop for sure, anybody who disagrees needs to have a valid reason. dropping insane amounts of knowledge in one tune is crazy talent let alone inspiring, learnt more from this guy than my own dad defo not the only one 👌
lord a mercy - this man speaks wisdom. gonna need to rewind this to get it all! 273k view? thats a crime.
