It's a colour that absorbs all the surrounding energy and during Puja there's only good energy around you. so wearing black cloth can help you absorbing all the good energy. You should also wear black clothes in Mandir or any other places that contains good energy.
Black clothes are only prohibited in hindu culture when someone dies because black absorbs the most and so much sad and negative energy is there when someone dies...white is for peace
