- Optional Boss #2: Star Magician
Star Magician from the Lost Age is back, and got nerfed like FUUUUUUUUU...
Anyway take out Guardian, Refresh and Goul as these type of balls are the most annoying ones. Then start focusing your attacks on Star Magician. Since Anger and Thunder Balls are very weak, so they shouldn't deal too much damage. The most dangerous spells that Star Magician can offer are Spark Plasma and Megacool and that's basically it.
This battle took me 40 minutes, I was about to go to bed and I didn't expect a boss at the end of this dungeon (I didn't think it really was a dungeon either), and I didn't even have all the Umbra gear yet, when I finally beat him, I was like 'This is for destroying me in TLA!'
i know im 8 years late but idc. i think you are thinking of a different game. you cant loose in this game, this game doesnt have a game over feature :/
Base Ball Appeared. Tennis Ball Appeared. Dodge Ball Appeared. Rubber Band Ball Uses Ricochet.
Football appeared. Soccer Ball appeared. Beach Ball appeared. Samus uses Morph Ball.
He should have just called the Dragon Balls. That way he could wish his enemies dead.
I'm max level and still searching for this guy! Now I hear he's been nerfed hard. Oh ho ho! I'm going to enjoy this.

I defeated him even before stepping into the apollo sanctum. I had made all the preparations, All you have to do is target him with mars attacks . I used searing beam and planet diver along with sveta's rampage. I just used two meteors and a kirin Everyone got double level ups. So basically i'm overtrained for the final boss.
Are these extra bosses actually in the game? Cuz i play DS version... 🤔

This boss was hard, mainly annoying though, just be a high enough level though, & only try to take out the balls that affect the Star Magician fight the most, which are the guard & refresh balls, & after their gone attack the Star Magician.
I always thought this was the hardest boss in the Golden Sun series. Even harder that Dullahan or the Doom Dragon, because his infinite balls made him less susceptible to summon rushes.

When I fought this guy, I had Matthew spam Megiddo on him while Karis, Tyrell, and Rief kept attacking the balls.
This boss was so damn OP in TLA it was ridiculous
And in this game it's a cake walk.
@@Miggy I remember the red balls suiciding when I killed the star magician, because in TLA, you could kill the magician but the battle continued until all balls were dead. I remember three balls and the three of them suicided and I was like 😕.... Ok

@Andareas I think this is enough, if you want a challenge. It was such a pain for me that I trained all my chars up to level 60, he was still a pain but I was able to take him out. Just bring those balls down and wait for the thunder balls, and like in the description, you should be able to finish the Magician off.

did you use an RNG method to get the tisiphone edge? or did you get it through pure luck?
Tisiphone Edge was one of the weapons that took a while to get. So yes, I guess I was lucky.
Yowza, what level are you here? When I did this, none of my party members had 1000+ HP
In TLA this guy was hard with a level 40-50+ team, in Dark Dawn with a level 50 team or even a level 40 and under team hes barely a threat at all. Looks like they nerfed the damage output from the AOE attacks of the thunder balls and Star Magician's abilities like Mine Ball. Also I could've sworn the Jupiter attacks of the thunder balls were way harder hitting in TLA and they spammed them. Maybe its just me but in TLA this guy was an absolute bitch to kill even with a strong team. Still one of my favorite GS bosses though
+Calum HGaming Yes I noticed this as well. Also, in Dark Dawn, Refresh Ball's priority is not Star Magician. When Star Magician has lost about 1500 HP and Thunder Ball has lost around 400 HP, Refresh Ball will use pure ply on Thunder Ball rather than Star Magician...which is odd, and makes him way easier than he is....in TLA Refresh Ball would always heal Star Magician first!!
The only nerfs in this fight are that Refresh Ball can cast Pure Ply on anything instead of Earnest Ply on Star Magician only, which does mean that your damage won't get undone nearly as often so parties that would get in deadlocks in TLA can muscle through the thing with patience in DD. All spells do the same damage (to the same level of elemental resistances, anyways; Sveta alone probably causes an overall slight decrease in damage due to having a set of +40 all resist gears to herself and freeing up more things for the rest of the party), and Mine Ball actually does slightly more due to him having higher attack this time (580 vs. 560). I guess you could make an argument out of having more balls to choose from means less chance of Guardian Balls, but then Ghoul Balls are every bit as annoying.
The guy wasn't really that hard in TLA, and it isn't much easier here in comparison. There are other external factors that makes it more likely that the players are better prepared in DD than TLA (mostly because DD took the "less encounters, more experience per encounter" route meaning it's way easier to grind to a higher level than TLA), and of course people who have played TLA in the past are likely older and wiser when they play DD, but they're only external factors.
regalstar nahhh,ive played TLA along time ago and replayed it and also played DD (well cuz its nostalgic) and based on everything ur say,some of it are true but rather,TLA is way harder than DD probably because the algorithm of star magician in TLA is way more strategized and nuisance than DD which is more straightforward

@Hausaun Correction: a tactic for people who don't want to waste half their lives devising a complex strategy when they could beat the boss in 2 or 3 rounds.
One good thing, when ur party dies, is replaced by the others.
He was much tougher in The lost age, I remember when I first saw him on the ship in dark dawen I was like "oh shit" I left and came back at a higher level and he was so super easy I was dispointed with this games bosses. TOOO EASSYYY.

I haven't played this game, but is it me, or did Star Magician became really easy and weak? I remember him as a harder boss which could take 1/2 of your hp every turn and was more annoying with his summons etc. than here.
Mine Ball could do up to 500 damage in TLA, here it barely reaches 200 at worst so yeah, star magician attack was heavily nerfed in this game

I beat the damn dullahan with lv 50 or so. This game is just too easy when it comes to battles.
He's still hard, the Ghoul Ball can put your djimn into Recovery and stay there until it's destroyed. Miggy planned ahead on how to completely KICK HIS BALLS!!
I beat him only using the mono-classes, which, while doable, makes it harder.

Even if it were the luck factor, they're the only characters that CAN wield it anyway. Limited to Venus adepts, I reckon.

Using an Action Replay, he can be beaten with one character, Matthew. Its sad how much he got leveled down.
I dispise how much they've nerfed this guy down. Before I remember he used to be a legitimate challenge... this is just said, even more so for Dullahan. I was SCARED to fight against that guy, now its a disgrace

use moves like grand gaia,spark plasma,Searing Beam, and rampage when there are multiple spheres. It is less damage to worry about XD

I dont get it... in TLA I could also beat this guy in level 32 average and Im not even good at this. If you summon-rush him, he allways goes down in about 4/5 turns.

you should have used speed punch with sveta in beast mode to a make an extra 400 damage per turn. and if u used himi with her weapon grace sveta would get another damage dealing boost xcept if you're already at max attack(999)

When I saw that they brought this shit back.... I was about to scratch my eyes out. This fuckin boss took me like 5 hours to beat at one point because of retarded water and earth balls. And now he has new balls....
Star Magician got quite nerfed in this game. He's not as fearsome when you face him in The Lost Age.

He's more of a challenge at level 4x or lower.

@GenesicCandlejack Because it takes away any challange the game has. Summon Rushing really is cheap and seperates the noobs from the really skilled players.
I drew out this battle to get over 4k exp...everyone jumped 10lvls XD That took FOREVER though...a lot of sleep mode and continuing later :P

I GOT 789089 EXP IN THIS FIGHT i kept on atacking the balls till i got bored then use my strongest attack on star magician, my whole group leveled up 8 LEVELS! awesome mine battle dured 30 min. ..
And I think the biggest failure in this game is the lack of Battle Arena

Yeah, he was really easy compared to Lost Age. Hell the mine ball attack almost always kills. Now it does nothing. I hate you, you have the Tisiphone edge.

It's called a BOSS for a reason..if you have to spend half your life devising a complex strategy to beat one then why do you play video games? If you have to summon rush to beat anybody then why do you have psyenergy, sword unleashes and stat buffers? You don't even unleash your djinn before you summon...that just defeats the whole purpose of the game...smmfh

It is one thing if it is a cameo battle; but in this case I'd have to agree with you. Like, from what I know from the The Last Age, he is more of a threat to be reckoned with... He seems like a regular field enemy here.
