What a busy handsome little hammy he was. He made a lovely nest. He'll be missed I'm sure. Nice vid full of great memories.
I can't watch a video now without crying. And he wasn't even my baby! But I know the pain you're going through. I'm so sorry. I wish all our pets could last forever. I can't tell you that it gets easier. We just learn to live without them. I still cry over pets I've lost years ago. Just hold solace in the fact that you have so many memories you're able to go back to and relive the joy you guys had together.

Yes, he passed away. It is explained in more detail on the Facebook page in the description box. I believe it was sometime over the summer. Although, I cannot recall the exact time off the top of my head.

@@jonas7758 no they literally do that all day all my hamsters, would even get water with their eyes closed. I think it's more to be able to listen without distraction.

It's a reflex from the times their ancestors were desert animals in Middle East. When they are active underground, they close their eyes tight so dust and sand won't go in them.
Of course in terrariums/cages with cotton or paper nesting materials they don't need that reflex but it hasn't gone anywhere.
When they drink from clack-clack bottle (😂), they purposely close their eyes so water sprinkles won't go in the eyes.
@@mrj.kottari8453 makes sense I figured it was because they were prey animals and their hearing was better with their eyes closed.
@@MJ-yd9gk you don't know much about senses do you? Your senses get better without others, etc so blind people hear better deaf people tend to see better etc. There are actually studies where underground or burrowing animals hear better due to lack of eyesight.
I love the way they shuffle things first with their front then with their butts! It's TOO CUTE!!

I just love watching my hamsters do the most mundane stuff in their cages. They’re such sweet creatures. Vanilla here is still sleepy yet he still managed to clean up his nest. We all miss you bub ❤️

Your care of these gentle souls makes this world a little better. By showing people out there that devoting yourself to compassion is a beautiful way to live. Thank you for this work, the world needs tiny and large acts of compassion. I recently got a white syrian hammy that looks a lot like Vanilla. He hasn’t warmed up to me yet, but i’m looking forward to a special friendship with my little guy, Lionel.
I’m so sorry for your loss. I know it can be hard to lose a pet who you spent a lot of time with and loved. Although you can get a new one, no other hamster can replace him. I hope you soon recover and find peace.

Hamsters are awesome. Be thankful for the fun and funny memories he provided. My 7 year daughter's Siberian "Penny" has been with us for 7 months now and has taught her patience and understanding. It took 1 month for the bitting and nipping to stop and 3 months for Penny to settle in to her large and well equipped cage. Now Penny practically jumps into my daughter's hands and was bouncing around happily when we returned from vacation and she heard my daughter's voice.

Claudia Leopold I got drunk the day she died I couldn’t control myself not because she was my pet and I loved her which I really did and I know nothings forever but I had picked my hamsters out with someone special to me and that day was very important to me and my memory of that day would be looking at my hamster and now the only reminder is her empty sleeping area I had 2 so the cage isn’t empty but my poor hamster couldn’t move when his friend died or maybe they were together idk but he doesn’t sleep were she slept 😭 and the day she died he stared at her sleeping area poor guy wouldn’t leave her I woke up seeing him staring and laying next to her.
My bunnies died they were young they loved me 😔

My precious hamster Cocoa died last month at around two and half I feel your pain! Having all of these nice videos to remember him by is a blessing, may sweet Vanilla rest in peace!(it's been some time but I wanted to say this)
Cocoa had his wonderful hamster life. My hamster also passed away couple weeks back... Cocoa, Chikku, Peanut and Vanilla are all in a pool of treats... Don't worry.

Funny thing is, my brother also has a hamster named Cocopuff but we call her Coco for short.
Its so hard to think this beautiful ball of fur is in the ground. Im so sorry about little Vanillia... but he got to that ripe old age and had an absolutley WONDERFUL life. So dont be sad about it! Just know hes running in a never ending field of dandilions

How do you keep it so clean? I would clean my hamsters cage weekly but his nest would get nasty with food and poop
I think behind the scenes are dirty too.
spot clean the pee and poo and it is ok if ur hamster scattered his/her food everywhere.
