    I have these in the same guitar. Only it’s left handed. Went through a few sets and these are it!. Huge sounding, clarity without sacrificing bass. Splits great too.

    I have the Lace Dissonant Aggressors and they are awesome. Would love to try these. The Mojotone Tomahawks in the PRS sound incredible

    Mojotone is definitely underrated. I have some single cold in my strat that sound crazy cool.

      Yeah they're cool for sure. I was surprised at just how chunky and hot the bridge pickup is.

    Good meeting you at the Mastodon lesson! I knew you looked familiar for some reason. Hell, yeah, and happy belated birthday.

    Good shit. Ive been eyeing these for my tremonti prs. I would've loved to have heard some split or parallel sounds since these use different gauge wires on each coils and mojo folks told me they are the most versatile humbucker set they make. Badass tones and playing. Fokin it up bra 🤘

    • @MetalHeadProductions
      @MetalHeadProductions  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, don't have pp pots with this wiring setup, unfortunately, but these pickups rule.

      They're great, especially that bridge pickup. Drives really nice, no hard pick attack but not at all dull, fuller low-end with our being muddy or fat, and that mid range really pushes whatever you're playing into, plus they just feel good to play. Don't feel like anything is fighting me.

    @MetalHeadProductions could you share what the settings you use for pickup height are?
    I’m having some trouble dialing in some high gain ceramic HB’s after switching from low output alnico’s.

    • @MetalHeadProductions
      @MetalHeadProductions  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have my amp settings up in the video, and for the height, I just dial that in until it feels right. It's different for different pickups and I'm not sure where I had this one for the video.

  • @SuperAssasinSteve

    Steven, you've demoed so many pickups. Do you have a (or some) clear favorites?
    How do these fair against all that you've tried?
    I want to try more stuff, but there are so many companies making pickups.
    The differences can be hard to discern in a (TH-cam) recording, but in the right guitar they can make ALL the difference in terms of feel, IMO.
    Thank you! :)

    • @MetalHeadProductions

      Absolutely, and this going to come down to personal tastes and gear so it took me a while and lot of trial and error to figure this out, but one of the pickups I've been using the longest is the black winter, this monotone pickup like going to live permanently in my FGN, the warpig from bkp is another fantastic high output pickup and I have one permanently in my LP, the m7 from Lundgren is easily my favorite 7 string pickup and for actives, Fishmans are so good, I'm really digging the Mick Thompson set and the standard moderns are everything I think someone would want from an active.

  • @karlmartin849

    Do you think they're versatile enough to cover a wider range of different genres?

    • @MetalHeadProductions

      Oh absolutely, I'd just change the pickups, but personally I'd go for an R2 just cause I like the body shape better.

    As a huge mastodon fan, I’m very interested in these.
    I also love thrash and death metal, how do you think these would work for those styles?

    • @MetalHeadProductions

      Oh absolutely they do. The bridge pickup is just what I like in a pickup and I play mostly death metal.

    How do you think these would compare to active emg 81/85? I mostly play with HM-2 pedals and am wondering if the hellbenders would be worth a conversion in one of my guitars.

    • @MetalHeadProductions

      These have way more mid range and low end than something like a 81. They definitely play nice with an hm2.
