Same hack happened to me over a year ago, same kind of password lock too. Thankfully I got my channel back by contacting youtube on twitter but still it's so easy to fall for this when you're new. to youtube. I still get fake sponsorship emails to this day. It's a big problem and I'm glad you're spreading it more with these videos, let us know if you find a way to encrypt cookies. I still think youtube should at least add 2FA on any big decisions like deleting videos and changing any channel info or deleting channels for that matter. Thanks for your work lucid!

@nekvw Yes for logging in, these hackers don't have to log in though. They steal your cookies where you are already logged in.

Honestly I don't think it's that "harmful" thing to do, IPs are public and not even accurate to your original location.
All you could do is just hit them off, or at least know a *small* bit of information about the users' information.

Unless a hacker hacks in your isp’s database they can’t find out much about you. The only real issue is ddos attacks like you said but they become harder and easily traceable.

i feel like the best thing to do in these situations is if its a company you have heard of before then email the real company just to make sure its actually them trying to partner with you. and if its a smaller company just do some simple research and make sure its legitimate

My understanding is using a primary password on Firefox doesn’t do anything to protect cookies but I could be wrong. I can’t find any documentation that backs that claim up.

it im trying to use my own antivirus engine and reprogramming it for discord related malware, like redline stealer. but i just need crypted and a normal redline stealer sample. there’s also been another stealer going around by the name of pirate stealer. so i’m gonna try to prevent that too

the reason for encrypting the archive is to prevent malware detection more than privacy.
by you creating a "do not hack me" video you are setting up a "devil leaves the kid alone" effect and if the person is going to hack you maybe now they wont hack you to prove that the relation is legit.
even if you privated your video they can still see the title and become suspicious that you are onto them.

7:15 its actually true if you see on your browser go on a website you are logged into look next to the url there is a lock(sites that have something instead of a lock might not be safe) tap the lock and you will see something saying cookies there is a cookie that is called "LOGIN_INFO" some people might give you a peice of malware that has a script to go in chrome files and steal your cookies and its not just login_info that they can take your information or accounts be safe i got hacked once and i am aware how they do it

Okay, use VMs whenever downloading from a spon. As well as use Yubico(or Google) keys on everything. They might bypass 2FA, but I don't think they can bypass a physical key. Also, VPNS would be nice.
1:45 is actually incorrect, they put a password on the file to prevent antivirus companies from detecting the .exe inside before you unzip it. they're hoping you dont unzip it and you execute it while it's zipped to bypass all av's.

Also encryption are doing antivirus can't match hashes they searching for that's indicates if it's a known virus or not, because when encrypted it's being a new hash.
Let's say someone download the file and scan it, nothing shows, then when you unencrypt the virus will be able to start their malicious crap....
