How do the writers want the audience to believe that the scumbag ML didn't love his ex bch. When he described to the FL how deeply he loved his bch, how devastated, heartbroken he was, how he still misses her, how everywhere he looked there are memories of her, the FL should have gotten a clue that he could never love her, as he was still in love with his ex bch. There is nothing wrong about him loving his ex bch. After all, he declared to his mother and the FL that he will always love his bch. As soon as bch came back he dumped the FL, hired his bch, spent all his time with her, literally moved in together...all of this is ok, as they are both deeply in love. So why did the writers force a love story between the ML and FL? What the writers did, was take a beautiful, fun, spunky, outspoken, hard working FL and turn her into a pitiful doormat martyr. The writers even have the FL leave and made a life for herself which is great, as she needed to move on. Then it got weird. The ML found out all the crimes that his bch did, and he forgives her and promises her that she will always be in his life, so common sense would be that he still loves her deeply...that is still good as the corporate crimes were against his business, so he has the right to forgive her. But suddenly, there's a gap of 2 yrs where no one knows what happens to the ML and his bch. Were they still living together as he promised? Did she leave him again? Did she bankrupt his new business? What happened in those 2 yrs? Because suddenly...WHAM! the writers gives the ML an epiphany, and after 2 yrs of silence he went looking for FL? to declare his love? How is he now in love with the FL? How is that a "happy" ending for the ML and FL, when throughout the drama, the ML is declaring his deep and passionate love for his bch? It doesn't make any sense. These writers are determined to show women like the FL as pitiful with no dignity or self love, as they always take back the scumbag ML in the end. Writers need to understand that women can survive on their own and be happy.
I agree with most of what you said but I get this strong feeling that in Chinese culture a family member always tries to right the wrongs done by anyone else in the family. Therefore the son, without knowing all the real facts, is atoning to this ugly old GF his obligations to the wrongs committed to his old GF by his mother. Throughout their 'new' relationship RongXuan never told the old GF he loves her even though she tries to get him to say 'I Love You.' He says he needs more time because it's been three years, and shows no real affection towards her. He is still caught up in his love for the FL but feels he has to do the 'right thing'. Memories of the newer girlfriend keep surfacing even to the point of pining over pictures of Zhou Ran in Venice and not letting anyone else use her desk. He loves the FL but feels guilty towards the old GF. Even in Jewish culture guilt is used like a sword of justice to get people's way, no matter how ill deserved. Finally, in a fit of conscience, the old GF confesses her crimes and he moves away from her. The FL is always on his mind and embedded in his heart. The ending is very disappointing but I have to believe that their love will endure. Although we don't get the satisfaction, after dragging through all of these episodes, the fact remains that at the appointed time they are back with each other in Venice. They should have written at least one or two more episodes respecting their audiences right to see a happy, fulfilling ending.

I do not like dramas where the male lead can easily be manipulated by the other woman. I want the protagonist to be strong and loyal to his partner. Am not watching this drama in full. Too bad because I really like the leads.
