I’ve seen this analysis in Twitter and I think it is accurate “ the dolls in the mv are russian dolls and they signify layers within self.. so the deeper she dug the more she realised that she's not well ... bcoz all the parts of you even the deepest ones play a significant role” I want to add to this analysis that chungha mentioned that this song is about the time of lockdown. She was too busy in her career to look at her self and take care of herself so when the lockdown happened she was forced to look inside herself and was scared from the deep scars that are inside her and they became even louder (bc she is alone and not distracted with work and friends) at the end of the mv she got in top of all the messy stuff to show that she finally accepted her flaws and weaknesses and stopped fighting them. What a sad yet hopeful song this is🤍

I like the part where she looks so curious when she received the doll. But when she found out what's inside, it felt so suffocating and all. I guess this is really how it feels when you discover how the world works. Everytime you get old, you discover the deeper meaning of life and the realities u have to face everyday. You lost that sense of curiosity and innocence u once had when you were still young and everything looks and feels lighter.

I loved your interpretation! For me it's more about what being an idol has meant and been for her. At first she was this innocent girl that expected and anticipated every comeback (hence d-day being the day this cb droped), but with time going by, she started to lose herself, enjoying being and idol, and we see at the end this sofa? that says 'nothing is for me', which might imply that what she is giving her fans now as an idol is just for her fans and not for herself anymore. Kinda sad, but I think that it's every idol's reality at the end of the day.
this "miss the future so bad" line always gets me. cause that is just so true. you live your life, make plans and try to turn your dreams into reality. to just one day something to come and take it all away from you. and then, as the time goes by, you finally get to this point of life you were imagining to just realise it is nothing like you pictured. your future changed. it is not the same as the future you imagined.
Please someone tell me why this masterpiece is so underrated, there's no song with the same vibes and the videoclip is just one of a kind

Watching this made me feel like she was talking about the engraved thought in all of us that 'growing up' will make us happier. The way they showed that with every birthday she gets to open up the doll and appear less cheerful and use darker outfits on her as the mv progresses. The doll was a 'gift of maturity/knowledge' and that pink theme represents that giddiness we feel towards finally being an 'adult'. Also notice how she didn't get to blow out the candle just as the line 'a little too soon' came on and perhaps it was her pertaining to how early she started on with her career(?)
I think that the doll symbolizes the things in life that we learn about as we grow older. The realities of life, the certain pressure to attain something at a certain age, in short the want to be something great. And that kills most of us because by the time we learn about those 'somethings' in life, we think that it's all too late. It kills us that we're chasing this non-existent hourglass in our life. That line where she says she 'misses the future so bad' is like I miss the future when I thought I could become something so I wish I could go back to the time when I thought I could attain that. Our innocence towards the realities of life is what we want back
She crushes the second to last doll(?), which can show the time she fought back those worries/anxieties. But then at the end she still holds the last doll, depicting that she has accepted that doll. Accepted that as we age we can never run away from worrying about our future/life. There was also this cut where they show a broken(smushed) tree of life dreamcatcher(symbolizes a fresh start on life with positive energy), our trampled youth when we realize handling our lives with just positive energy is not enough. The reveal of the chair chungha was sitting on that says 'nothing is for me' really made me feel a lot of things, the whole mv and song actually lol. We sit on our darkest thoughts a lot and dwell on it for a long ass time and I like to think that it ends with how chungha no longer sits on it (her dark thoughts). But then the fact that the chair is still intact whilst sitting on a pile of broken-ness shows how we will find our ways to come back to that chair, sit on it and dwell about our lives.

What I thought abt the mv is that her social battery was so messed up she has to keep up with the time and the trend, with her ideals and hopes, and the withdrawals when you're too exhausted and drained your energy, and seeing it all as pointless. Sorry i'm not good in explaining it.

1. Killing Me, isn't a comeback, just a special single.
2. A single that means a lot for Chungha. To express the hardships she went through 2020/21.
3. She produced it and was involved in every single detail of this album.
4. Also, Killing Me wasn't promoted because Chungha is busy preparing for her real comeback, her 5th mini album and 6th mini album.
6. Chungha said that there is going to be something every month, so be ready xD (January she had an online fan meeting).

Mv Theory: I think the song is about chungha wanting her lover to open up, but as she opens each layer bad things happen and things get worse, the more she opens. But the suspense of what lied beneath all those layers is what's killing her, and in the end when she found out that the smallest doll was damaged (which is a metaphor for her partner being a broken child) she felt like all this effort was waisted that's why she crushed it.

I love this theory, but then I feel sorry for the lover.
I mean, she spent all this time trying to convince them that it was okay to open up to her and gained their trust to the point that they did just that, only for her to crush them in the end and basically say she couldn't deal with that part of them.

Chung Ha certainly doesn't need the added Pop layered synthetics in 'Killing Me,' but she's certainly proved that she can slay vocals with, or without, them in tow, because her vocals lead like crazy. World-wide audience, and broadly in-touch lyrics. English spoken cross-overs *(hoping for full songs in the future!)*, Spanish inspired amazement, native Korean slam hits, and plenty other sorts of influences... Multi-versatile, incredible, and an absolute joy to listen to and watch grow into an even larger icon. ( Gotta Go FTW ). Keep jaw dropping!

Most probably cause she is from a small company. You will notice that many other popular soloists are either from a big company with huge sum of money or have been present for so many years. While chungha is from a small company and self made. Also it has only been 4 and a half years since her solo debut. I pray for her global success and rise in popularity in korea as well cause she deserves more.

@@jomkesora2412 Chungha is huge in Korea on of the biggest soloists, her not having many views only reflects that she isn’t from a group/not supported by a huge fandom. Also this isn’t a comeback that she is promoting so the views make sense but quality over quantity 😊
