    Wow! I was just looking to see if one could instal radiant-heat into a cabin floor, oneself, and ended up watching the majority of this over an hour long video on building and assembling an entire cabin. I'm exhausted! So much work on something so small! So my takeaway is this. I'd prefer to have extra cash on hand to have someone else, someone that actually knows what they're doing, do it instead. With gratitude, peace. It is beautiful, by the way. ❤

      The assembly is pretty straightforward - you got this :) but if you get someone they should be able to do a good job!

      It took us a few months of constant searching - but we found that to get something even remotely affordable, we had to travel north and quite far off the ‘beaten path’. We also had a couple of realtors in different areas sending us leads on potential sites, regularly scouring Craigslist, kijiji and road trips for ‘for sale by owner’.
      It’s a lot of effort but it’s worth it for the quiet. Good luck in your search!

    Hey guys, excellent video. A couple of questions: what was the R-value in the roof insulation and how many days did it take you to put it together in total from the platform up

    • @mattandmouse
      @mattandmouse  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Thanks for watching!
      The roof has two layers of R5.5 making R10 plus the minimal layer of pine boards.
      We’ve found that in -1 degrees C, with the tiny cabin heated to 19 degrees C when we went to sleep, in the morning it had dropped to 12 degrees C. So not too bad. I think our ‘insulation weak point’ is the walls now which are 2” thick spruce.
      Total assembly of the kit was 2 days for foundation platform, 4 days for the kit and another 2 for the insulation and metal roof.
