They are actually in war time, there never was a Peace treaty, so there is no actual fighting but on paper they're at war.
And describing the Situation between The North and The South as a "little tension" is a big Understatement 😂

Didn’t want to get into politics too much so kinda avoided North Korea talk but we do feel that regime does need to be destroyed and the people there need their freedoms. Just didn’t want to get into the “what if’s” with North Korea, that can go off the rails quick 😂

70+ years since the Korean war 'paused' and the US Army still has soldiers patrolling with SK soldiers at the North/South Korea border. That's how serious the threat is.

    updates on jin
-- Jin was the company commander trainee during 5week training period ( this role is representing a unit of about 200 people. If there is an event, he takes an oath as a representative, speaks, and reports on the company's roll call), and now he will be expected to be assigned to New Recuits Training Center (bootcamp) as an assistant drill instructor through the selection process (one can be selected for this role with high level of proven excellence )
-- [1/14/22 ]From YTN news trainee Kim seokjin applied for the assistant instructor position himself and got finally selected after close order drill assesment, verbal order/command skill evaluation and an oral interview.

We don’t see the details of what someone other person who is in the military is positioned as now do we? Technically it is war time. SK is in an 'at war' position with NK forever unless something changes between them. Also quite a few SK men don't particularly have a great experience from their time in the military. Being made to do something against wanting to do it already sets your mind in a different place but hopefully Jin and the rest of the guys will be okay.

I'm sad about their military enlistment, but at the same time I'm proud. BTS never once asked for special treatment or an exemption. In my opinion they've already done enough for South Korea and deserved it, but they would never accept an exemption even if offered one. Could you imagine if military service was mandatory in the US? I'm sure so many people would be using every excuse in the book to try to get out of it. That's why I'm so thankful to all the men and women who do serve in the US because without them volunteering to enlist we would have to do the same thing. All we can do is keep good thoughts for Jin and hope he completes his service happy and healthy. I'm not really looking forward to doing this 6 more times, but there's nothing I can do about that. Luckily we still have BTS music and their solo music too. And I can't wait for them to be together as 7 members again in 2025. I'm going to their Yet To Come Busan concert at the movie theater in February and I plan on having a fun time and probably a few tears will be shed too.

No. Everyone that comes out of the U.S. military is not a better person, that is a bizarre take. A lot of paranoid, murderous, violent, hyper-nationalist, or shady individuals come out of/have joined the U.S. military. It becomes certain people’s entire personality. The sexual assault committed by military men is also off the charts, within and out of the military. So I disagree, the U.S. doesn’t need more of that. It needs people to take required training on basic human compassion and empathy, if anything. Especially in their younger years.

Well... Military service in Korea is mandatory. However, there are many people who have got exemptions if they have money, power, or dirty connections. Note that the current president of South Korea didn't serve military (why? unbalanced eyesight? LOL There have been unfair cases for decades and this makes military exemption always becomes a hot issue in Korea.). BTS has everything, more than anyone else, if they wanted to use the power. But they chose to be one of "Everyone" as Koreans. I'm so proud of them and at the same time, it's a shame not to be able to make a better solution for BTS and for the country.

  • @4EVERWITHBTS
    @4EVERWITHBTS ปีที่แล้ว +43

The fact that they won't be doing music as a group for a long time is of course a bummer but definitely not my main point of sadness. What makes me sad is:
    - the fact that they are forced to do it (I know every SK male has to go but still...forcing someone to do something just doesn't sit right with me).
    - Jin hates the cold and he is doing his service in winter time so I am worried for him.
    - Jin has said that the boys see each other 360 out of 365 days so him not being able to see his dongsaengs (little brothers) and them not being able to see their hyung (big brother) for so long will be hard. Jin even said that he sees his members as his phone or wallet in the sense of feeling nervous not having them close to him. Even though they can call each other, it's not the same as seeing each other nearly every day.
    - The stories I've heard of idols in the military are scary and I don't want Jin (or any of the other members) going through something like that.
Mostly, I'm worried about his mental state; he is strong but still, military life seems really tough even for the strongest people.
When it comes to entertainment, I am thankful because the boys have left us with over 10 years of content so we will always have something to watch and listen to but we won't really know if he's sleeping well, if the food there is okay, if he is happy (as far as happiness can go over there), if people treat him with kindness, if he feels comfortable and if he stays healthy.
Sorry for ranting, I started typing and couldn't stop 😅

I’m oddly happy for him. They’ve had so many years and stress about this hanging question of enlisting and they did it in their terms. They don’t owe anyone favors and they get so much respect for this. In many ways they want to do this. This is something all their fathers, brothers, friends have done. It’s an important part of Korean life and I think not being idols being normal is important. Also a life lesson to fans about social civil responsibility and honoring that. I’ll happily wait and maybe by 2025 I will have caught up on all their old content. But I’ll still miss each one as they go in. Jins 5% done with his time, and by next summer he’s done!

All the member will be enlisting by the end of 2023 so they can all get it done and come back together by 2025. The service time is 18 months. I'm sad for them, because I know they will miss having the closeness they've had together for the last 10 years. But just Jin or any ofhtem serving their time in the military doesn't scare me or make me sad. He'll be fine. They'll all be fine. My father and my brother (Americans) did stints in the US army - my dad was stationed in Korea (where he met my mother) and my brother was in Afghanistan during the fighting there. Knowing my brother might actually be in a battle was scary but we kept general track of him and he came back just fine. Our Bangtan men aren't delicate daisies - they'll survive and thrive and come back with new insights and interests and - the kicker - friends. These guys are so isolated by their status and careers, that it's very hard for them to form connections outside of other people in the industry.
They need this, not just for their country, but to feel a connection to the regular people of S. Korea. We'll see who goes next. They don't have to go by age (that would mean Suga has to be next) but can choose when. Since RM and J-hope have released their solo albums, they are the most likely to follow Jin. But they'll all be going this year since they hope to regroup by 2025.

BTS are actually the few in the country that could be exempt if so desired. A law was passed where artists who have received this certain medal of honor by the government they could be exempt because they used their art at such a high level as to serve their country. BTS received this medal before the law was passed and were actually the youngest people to ever be awarded it. But BTS has always said that they will serve.
But I think we don't think about how in Korea literally every adult male has served. Every father, brother, uncle, cousin...they all had this shared experience( and duty and pride) of serving in the military and are now technically considered reserves. It's a part of adulthood and manhood in Korea. In a way, it's the members of BTS being able to experience a very normal part of life. Probably the most normalcy they will ever have in their adult life, period.
We always pray they stay safe, and warm, and not be lonely, but it's not such a terrible thing.
Also I've seen and waited for 3 groups now for all members to enter and return from the military and time passes faster than you think. And two of my other favorite groups are only waiting for the youngest to return. Most groups continue making music and promoting just in different sub-units or as solos and it gets to be a really experimental time for them musically. And then when all members are returned it's so fun to hear those songs re-imagined and re-mixed with the whole team

The Korean War never ended, it was an Armistice was declared July 27, 1953 and Korea was divided into north & south. That why there is a mandatory enlistment in S.Korea, the border is patrolled 24/7 . The Korean War was the most destructive conflict of modern warfare with approximately 3 million civilians deaths, all major cities ( on both sides ) were bombed and several million N Korean left to the south. Unfortuntely not everyone is stronger after serving military. There has been a lot of bullying in the army and this is one of of the reasons ARMY has been worried about this whole thing. There have been cases that some men did not do mentally well during the service so they have been moved to being for example social service agents. This is not a simple as it looks.

@@jay-gu1ez @jay Do you have a source to this news bit, I havent heard about any frozen soldiers recently at least not in South Korea but its always good to stay up to date. Jin is fine though, his area provides good shelter, heat packs, and endless hot food as well as personal time off. In his case, since he's in a high position once he graduates- he'll constantly be on the move and will get long vacation time and of course he's a global icon so they have his protection as a priority even if he wants to be treated normally. I heard about people faking their illnesses and trying to evade service but those people get punished when caught and usually end up in jail since it is a crime to do so. Jin could have easily been granted another postponement by the government but he said years ago he had plans concerning the military and he's sticking to them, he's honorable and his country adores him, he'll be fine.

We have many societal problems in the 🇺🇸 and the military is a good choice for some. But in all honesty, the fact that you have that opinion (and I am not trashing your opinion at all) is a symptom of a much much larger societal breakdown in this country. We have so so many young people who grow up with empty stomachs, no reliable parenting, unable to educationally thrive, and incapable of emotional regulation a long long long ass time 😮b4 there are eligible for the service. Please think about that when you cite riots, etc. Far too many people in this country live at the breaking point 24/7 thru no fault of their own. If they turn 18 and need the military to get their mind right, something went wrong way b4 that. 💜

  • @MystiqueRisingSun
    @MystiqueRisingSun ปีที่แล้ว

No peace treaty between North and South Korea was ever signed. As such, North and South Korea ARE still at war. There just hasn't been any actual combat in a few decades.
Anyway, I've explained it to my non-K-Pop friends as a "reverse draft". The draft in the U.S., of course, is when there IS a war going on and men are called to go into the military specifically to fight because more men are needed. Korean military...they go in, they do their training...not specifically to fight, but in case - at some point - they *have* to fight. They're already trained, so if an actual (physical) war breaks out, they may just need a quick "refresher course" of sorts, but they do already know the various techniques of combat.
I know international fans were trying to "get them out of it", their own government was debating on exempting BTS, but I've said it before, and I'll say it again...honestly, with they way BTS are as men? I think even if they had gotten an exemption, they still would have gone anyway. After all, "exempt" doesn't = "forbidden". Boys grow up hearing about their grandfathers, their dad, older brothers, and older cousins going in. This isn't something that just happens when a Korean male turns 18 and their dad pulls them aside with 'We need to talk..." They know, from a very young age, what's expected of them when they become an adult...and very, VERY, few men ever actually try getting out of it, unless there is a physical disability that would make serving impossible.
Yes, it sucks. Yes, we miss them. Yes, it's going to be hard...hell, even if you want to make military life your career, it's not easy! However, it'll all be over in the blink of an eye, too. Jin's been in a bit over 6 months - almost 7 at the time of this writing - so...he already has LESS than a year to go. Of course I'll be happy when they reunite, but for now, I'm also happy with all the solo projects we've been getting, too. I can't wait to see what happens in 2025 and I know it'll be here sooner than we think!

"Evertbody who goes into the military comes out a better person-" I humbly disagree. Bullying, harsh authority, resentment, envy, constantly under strain - there's a lot to watch out for in the military, which helps no one, is not healthy or promotes good in people.

That make me cry because it's so long 18 or 22 months , je pense que cela affecte leur carrière, vu qu ils reviendrons en 2025 peut être ? et pouront ils encore danser comme ils l'ont fait jusqu'a present, on ne peut pas être sûres, je suis encore dépitée 😭😤

Also, people can’t make any money while there, so it’s tough on people who don’t have money in the first place. I can’t imagine having to put my life and working on hold. I can’t comment much because I don’t know enough. I imagine it does make men feel bonded by a shared experience. A lot of women do enlist I think?? Not sure but I think I heard someone on a news show saying that they hope more women will be inspired to go. They are worried because birth rate is declining and future numbers will be lower.

I mean it was mandatory in the US until very recently. And tbh I don't think the US as a nation is mature enough to handle their own military *right now* given the extreme abuse and failure to care for their veterans and active service members. If you can't care for your people, you don't deserve them. And the US doesn't. That's just my opinion

4:53 A lot of countries have some sort of service, like SK which is mandatory because of the political manipulation by the US govt in the past. So this is directly because of US interferences, really sad.

5:24 i agree with you, america needs a mandatory military service, 2 years minnimum at least (the same as south korea), not only every male will have experience in combat in case of an emergency, it would make america more dangerous than before and not only that like yall said, people will get out of there a better person (or in worst cases, they will get out of there with mental problems, cause yes, miitary service can cause extreme stress and depression)
