As a kid we always decorated before Thanksgiving so that when we gathered around for Thanksgiving day, we could enjoy the start of the holiday season (with happiness and cheer). However, with my hubby he grew up a firm believer that you decorated AFTER Thanksgiving. I prefer before Thanksgiving just because I have my biggest tree in the 3 season porch and it gets cold the end of November 🥶

We moved from NY to FL in May and I unpacked my Christmas things earlier to discover THE MOVERS DID NOT PACK MY BIG, GORGEOUS BALLS, MY HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS OF RIBBON, and that's just what I've noticed so far. They also left everything in the garage behind so we had to make a trip back and make new arrangements). And to boot, after 2 days travelling, they held my 2 big trucks of things hostage because I didn't have a certified check to pay them. At 4:30 in the afternoon ... after the banks were closed (I discussed a check or CC with the estimator; she did not tell me otherwise). Sooo, I needed your video tonight. You made me smile. Thank you. Now I wait for Amazon to save the day. Stay away from BOLD MOVING & STORAGE, based in VA. Aggravation, anxiety, unprofessional tart language, thousands of dollars wasted, and my Christmas things are forever gone. Gonna go look at another video to get the move out of my brain and find my smile again. 😊

I was so so glad 😊 when they came out with shatter-proof ornaments. I remember working with the 1's that would even break onto carpet & shatter into a million pieces, lol.

You can try making smaller ones and attach them to the tree very close together with wire or pipe cleaner. But! If it's not giving you joy FORGET IT. I've been doing ribbon for years. It looks easy, but takes practice for sure. And I still struggle at the beginning of the season because I haven't done any ribbon for months. So please don't feel bad. Death to ribbon if it takes away any sparkle magic!
The name of the effect will depend on what kind of lights you have. It's usually called something like "twinkling" "in waves" or "flashing". When you get lights make sure it's the kind that can do different effects.

I also changed My ribbon design, instead of making a Topper & Curly (which didn't work as well as I had hoped) going vertically down the tree, I did the "corkscrew-look*. I only had enough ribbon for 3 rows, I had wanted 4, however I compensated with these new "diamond/icicle" ornaments 🙂💖
Wow, this is gorgeous; well done!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Just wondering... I’ve seen large trees done with (various sizes of) ball-ornament clusters throughout it. This year, I had my mind set on doing a turquoise & silver colour palleted tree - but finding turquoise ornaments was more challenging than I expected. I found a few turquoise things along with balls in other shades of blues - from navy to sky blue (as well as silver)... and in various sizes. I also have 8 white, long-tailed pheasants to put on as well. My balls (😳) range from medium to small and much smaller. I thought it would be interesting to use clusters of them instead of placing individual balls here and there (although I guess I could visualize individuals hung sporadically in the spaces between the ‘ball-clusters’. Anyway... I was just wondering if you’ve done a tree specifically in various sized ball-clusters and if so, how would you create the clusters (every shade of blue & silver in each cluster? Or separated colour-clusters?) - and where would you place them? If my question is too annoying, no worries. Although I want to try it, my tree is up with lights on - but it’s naked! My plethora of decorations have been spread out all over my couch (for 2 days now - eek)... and I’m giving myself a headache just thinking about it.
1. Don't overthink it. 2. Yes! I love ornament clusters! I would put at least two colors in each cluster, but experiment with it, to see what you like. And make sure you vary the sizes of balls (ha!) for each cluster. I talk about ornament clusters at the end of this video here: th-cam.com/video/RofVv4Iorto/w-d-xo.html Also, I would place them anywhere you would put a big ornament, and tuck them in. Don't put them on the edge of the branches. I hope that helps! Again, don't overthink it. Play around with making the clusters and see what YOU like. It's going to be beautiful!

Any tips on how to arrange beaded chains on the Christmas tree? I kept putting them on, taking them off, readjusting for atleast an hour or more and it still doesn't seem RIGHT. I then paired the chains to give it a slightly fuller effect, and it doesn't look as bad as before, but I'm still not sure about the positioning. Any tips please?
The only time I've done beads was for a Madri Gras tree, and they were necklaces, so they were extra difficult to work with😆 My only advice it to try to drape them as evenly as you can, but don't try to make them perfect. Once you get everything else on, you won't notice the little "imperfections" with the beaded chains. The overall look will most likely be gorgeous.
If I can find someone who will let me decorate theirs, than I can. But I don't do real trees because videos go up so early, the tree won't last the season. I'll note this though, and see if I can definitely make that happen next year. Real trees are different to decorate so that's a really good idea!

If you keep the ribbons short, it might be enough. If you want more than 3 curls or, want longer curls, you'll probably need more. Hope that helps!
