The diversity training segment is jaw-dropping. They genuinely expected federal agencies to disregard a clear piece of federal legislation, because they expect federal agencies to decide said legislation is "fascist propaganda", which subjective judgement (they believe) empowers these federal agencies to ignore the law. Literally, they believe subjectivity is more important than any law they don't like.

When we talk about "affirming" trans youth.... the notion is that we should validate delusion... I refuse to lie to people to validate their delusions. Instead I think it is imperative to invalidate delusion and reinforce TRUTH.
What are your thoughts on Christmas or, more specifically, a Saviour raised from the dead? I happen to agree with your post %100, but do get frustrated the level of allowable delusion societally as long as it suits certain narratives.
@@JH-ji6cj You could argue that those delusions usually don't lead to sterilization surgery on minors, puberty blockers or lifelong dependency on cross-sex hormones. (Even typing that made my skin crawl.)
@@Surreal452 what's your opinion on foreskin removal surgery from childhood? As a Brit NPR sounds a lot like BBC Radio 4 in the UK (or the BBC more broadly). A once respected institution that has long lost its balance and objectivity…although I’ve seen a kernel of improvement more recently so maybe the pendulum is swinging back.
Thank you for doing this. These kinds of conversations are a breathe of fresh air. The paternal tone that NPR has adopted in the last five years is the single biggest reason that I stopped listening to NPR, and seeing other people identifying these and other downward trends at NPR begs the question; When are you going to create a news organization built on public funding and, the scientific method, and the socratic method . . .
I have watched many of your videos and have appreciated how you have remained civil while addressing topics that should not be controversial to discuss. I have noticed that a lot of academics are not pushing back on the misappropriation of the term "phobia" in that it has a specific meaning and usage for people who experience like the fear of in closed spaces which is called claustrophobia.
@@bradmowreader5983 Thanks for the commitment but I will have to disagree with the claim of unreasonable. Due to that many people who have this type of fear generally will have gone through some type of mental or physical abuse that underlies this condition. So the fear, even though from a person that has not suffered through the abuse would see this condition as unreasonable, would be reasonable for the person that has suffered the abuse.
Totally agree, I fell out of love with the CBC in 2017. The vitriol spewed against Albertan oil and the Trans Mountain Pipeline. Living on Vancouver Island from Alberta at the time I couldn’t believe the hypocrisy of BCers. Oil / gas bad but no one was giving up their car or boats.
This series is great. It's a relief that I'm not the only one who has noticed what has happened to NPR in the last few years. And although I still listen, I'm glad I'm not the only one who plays the game where I see how long it takes for them to bring race, gender, or climate into absolutely any story on any subject. It isn't nearly as entertaining as Tom and Ray were, but it's pretty damn entertaining.
Really enjoyed this! Missed the first couple so will catch up & look out for the next. Love seeing you hitting your new stride after letting go of the old.
I really wish there would be more of these episodes. They were honestly so fascinating. I think there are many ways to assess media, on many levels, so I don't think the subject would get tiresome. Maybe you can pick different news outlets to unpack. When I see physical ads mailed to me from both the left and the right, on a specific issue, I often think both sides are being disingenuous in how they talk the issues. "Democrats want to allow sexual predators into kindergarten!" Now, I get the point - I may even agree with the point, but I do not see how framing it like that is honest or helpful. Many people are villainizing the opposition and it makes us hate each other. Like you say, let the expert talk for themselves, don't just set them up as insane hypothetical monsters. I think you can apply this to the left and the right. But since I'm left leaning, it's way more fascinating for me to hear a critique of my own side.
This is an absolutely brilliant series. I've been able to solidly piece together so much of what I figured was happening to the US public opinion balance as it has been portrayed internationally. Fortunately wokeness doesn't seem to be as bad down in Australia (not that we don't have other problems - with our media and elsewhere). But geez it sure seems bloody awful up there.
Rachel Lavine saying there is no argument about the standards of care while going to Texas to advocate because there is an argument about the standards of care. This is either gaslighting or cognitive dissonance but I don't know which... maybe both!
Great work, Mr. Borghossian, thank you very much. I loved these last 4 podcasts. Could you please publish bits of it to share, e.g. the direct quote from Trumps EO, the dinosaur story told by Gina Gambony in episode 3 or the personal stories of why people stopped listening to NPR. It would help to share your great content to people who are not familiar with it and might be scared by the length of one episode.
Thank you both! I listened to NPR throughout the last decades too. It was in the early 2000s that I became very uneasy with it. Then came 2015ish. I would be seeing with my own eyes what was harming in Berkeley and watching live feeds of events in Frisco. Then I would hop over to the local MSM feeds. WTF? Complete nonsense. I start to spit nickels recalling the gross misreporting. I so get upset when the powers in charge of SF got several thousand people to go March around a park. Where TWO people from the Modesto area were reported to be dangerous gang of Nazis. When in fact they had been run out of another part of town with turd reich and bullying. And only wanted to talk to one reporter in ac safe place The fact that those two politicians could get that many to show up to protest was truly disgusting. Mass hypnosis? Egregore? Who knows. But it’s not good.
NPR went through a period of several years where you literally could not turn on the radio for 30 seconds without hearing someone talking about race. In fact, if I'd had the time, I was considering listening to NPR for 24 hours straight with a stopwatch and a counter to count how long they could go between stories on race and/or how many times a day it was mentioned. Since COVID and Ukraine, they have backed off a little, but it's still very slanted. I still listen sometimes, but I listen through NPR's bias, not directly to what they say.
One more thing on the trans segment: even social transition - that happens way more than medical transition in youth - have been ruled (in the UK) as “not a neutral act”. In fact, according to Dr Hilary Cass’s interim report on the gender services in the UK, social transition is a psycho-social intervention. It’s not neutral because it makes medical transition more likely and desistance less likely. According to the UK, Sweden, Finland etc Now think what school teacher is qualified to prescribe a medical intervention.
this is great! i am not kidding when i tell you that you could have a similar outpouring from liberals if you do a "when did you stop watching MSNBC" segment. seriously you should try this.
I still listen to NPR (even though it only takes about 60 seconds of listening for me to get annoyed) just so I can keep up with what those kind of people are thinking - especially since those people and that mindset is what dominates modern culture, and holds the most political power. And knowing what they think is how I can easily out-debate them. I stopped AGREEING with npr right before the pandemic, when I noticed how much emphasis was just on “orange man bad”, and how it didn’t align with what average Americans really cared about. It was them just pushing “orange man bad” all day every day to the point it was unbearable.
Feeling masochistic?!? Review the Nina Jankowicz interview. I was so angry I called the station 🤣 A lot of good that did. I'm a poli sci teacher. I've been following you, Helen, and James for a few years. I still listen to NPR because I need to understand my enemy.
That opener was amazing. FakeChuck unwittingly proved the entire point of these episodes. I wonder if light being shined on these facts may change his mind. I'm not optimistic.
Spot on about soccer, Matt. My husband grew up really poor in Mexico. He and his brothers and friends used to play “the beautiful game” with a rolled-up shirt! And though everyone worked loads of hours, they found plenty of time to play soccer. I wouldn’t want to play against such folks. In fact, when my son’s team was up against largely brown teams we knew the latter would likely win. And so they did, even though those players’s families made less money and worked longer hours than did those of the white kids. Exactly right about NPR starting with the conclusion and working backwards, lol!
The latest NPR story I heard was about documentary films. More specifically, it was about the struggles of Native American film makers. This was 2 days ago.
@@drpeterboghossian no thank you Mr Boghossian. Following your work all the way from Norway. We have many of the same issues plaguing the USA over here. I have learned a lot from your street epistemology videos, and have incorporated the “system” into my own conversations. Keep up the good work.
I stopped listening to NPR years ago after hearing two episodes of Fresh Air in 2003 on the topic of US tax policy. One episode featured an interview with conservative economist Grover Norquist and the second one with liberal economist Paul Krugman. The approach of host Terry Gross' interviews was night and day different with each guest. With Norquist, Gross was argumentative, at times cut him off to offer counter examples, and was obviously hostile to what he was saying throughout the whole interview. In contrast, Gross was literally quite agreeable to the economic ideas that Krugman put forward. More than once she explicitly said she agreed with what Krugman said and often provided additional observations to back him up. She was clearly in awe of Krugman's economic brilliance. Gross had ZERO amount of objectivity with either guest. More of this behavior was on display when about the same time she had Bill O'Rielly on her program. I'm not a personal fan of O'Reilly, but her openly hostile attitude with him (not even listening to his answers) and repeated attempts at "Gotcha" questioning eventually caused the Fox News personality to get up and walk out of the interview when he realized that a dialogue with Gross wasn't going to happen.
I think Gina has the most pleasing voice I have ever heard. And she is brilliant. If NPR would only appoint her as top boss the world would instantly become a better place.

My point being that, whole I too am against 'gender affirming transition surgical options for children',, I think the Right has a lot of logical interference in having a leg to stand on when it comes to religious beliefs and social contracts.
@@JH-ji6cj I'm against it 100%, and I agree
As a Brit NPR sounds a lot like BBC Radio 4 in the UK (or the BBC more broadly). A once respected institution that has long lost its balance and objectivity…although I’ve seen a kernel of improvement more recently so maybe the pendulum is swinging back.
Excellent series. I hope it gets wider attention. Please keep going.
Can’t stress enough how great and useful this is. Keep up the good work!
Thank you for this breath of sanity.
Love this series, Peter. Not partisan, truly worth a listen
This is the best show on the internet.
The keyword is unreasonable. An unreasonable fear of enclosed spaces.
I appreciate this show so much.
Thanks!
I play Dan's game on CBC Radio as well with identical results. Keep 'em coming guys, great work.
Thanks for the commentary. I was a lifetime fan of NPR from 1988 until 2020. Never again!
Thank you, Peter.
The term "went the way of the Buffalo" is going to be replaced with "went the way of the University" NPR went the way of the university.
These episodes are excellent. Thank you for doing this.
Another great eye-opening episode!
Thank you!
Simply the best content being provided on a weekly basis.
From a person that never watched NPR. This show is so good.
All things reconsidered is fast becoming one of my favorite podcasts!! I need more kazoo!
I'm not going to miss any of these.
Oh wow. The thumbnail alone is priceless!!! 🤣
Its scary when a high ranking official claims there is no argument against a highly contested field or topic
Yeah...also if he sais:"well, it's really complicated, so I wont even try to explain it to you...just TRUST me..." :DD
Conformity is Diversity
Exclusion is Inclusion
Domination is Equity
This is an absolutely brilliant series. I've been able to solidly piece together so much of what I figured was happening to the US public opinion balance as it has been portrayed internationally. Fortunately wokeness doesn't seem to be as bad down in Australia (not that we don't have other problems - with our media and elsewhere). But geez it sure seems bloody awful up there.
In 2018 I heard a story about safe spaces. The segment read like they were fetishizing trauma. That was it for me. Haven't listened since.
😈 Yet another former NPR listener here. Thanks Peter for pointing out the dishonesty.
Badass show!! This needs to be brought to light & yall do a brilliant job! Bravo!!
Thank you!
After watching these episodes, I find NPR to be even worse than I thought.
How do we get people who need to hear these to hear them?
Thanks all!
Another excellent episode!
Soccer is literally the sport with the lowest barrier to entry financially and everyone knows that.
Unless you're a western woman, and then apparently there are mental hurdles.
According to the UK, Sweden, Finland etc
Now think what school teacher is qualified to prescribe a medical intervention.
Love this program
AGAIN, I LOVE THE SPONSORS!!!
this is great! i am not kidding when i tell you that you could have a similar outpouring from liberals if you do a "when did you stop watching MSNBC" segment. seriously you should try this.
Thanks guys. Awesome program!
I am sad this series ended, any possibility of more episodes in the future?
At 15 years old in oregon kids can get medical care including hormones without parental consent or even informing the parents
Birth control?
Wow, this is a really thought provoking series! If NPR could take some tips from you then they could be really great!
Immensely enjoyable content
Thank you!
@@drpeterboghossian no thank you Mr Boghossian. Following your work all the way from Norway. We have many of the same issues plaguing the USA over here. I have learned a lot from your street epistemology videos, and have incorporated the “system” into my own conversations. Keep up the good work.
Can you offer this series as a Podcast also?
Fantastic video Peter!
I think Gina has the most pleasing voice I have ever heard. And she is brilliant. If NPR would only appoint her as top boss the world would instantly become a better place.
Great stuff… I know what I’m going to send to anyone still claiming that NPR is objectively reporting the news. I’m going to send them this video.
