Living in Aotearoa/New Zealand, it amazes me that most of the American citizenry don’t even know that you have more imprisoned people than anywhere on the planet, the figures are esp shocking re women incarcerated. The Prison/jail system is a money maker. Thus little rehab, books, education etc.Jesus you have prison conditions that constitute “ torture” under human rights & torture treaties & UN mandates etc. You have a govt willing to murder children by being silent. What you have in America is a flailing empire, & Dems have made no difference. In fact Biden by his stance on the Genocide & ethnic cleansing in Palestine(& yes I worked in refugee camps there for 3 years) your country is assisting & enabling these war crimes. I find it hard to believe that your citizenry can effect real change, which is sad. That does not mean cease the fight, it does mean see it in a much broader context! Many of us who are non American do not see the USA as the planets police force!I don’t even believe what you call democracy is anywhere near what democracy is & ought be. A two party system, which is corrupt, lobby groups that hold too much power.Kick the lobby groups out. That said, sorry to say but I think your country is too far gone. The poor, working poor, & minority communities will carry the load of a neo liberal economic system. Rule 1, the citizenry via its govt ought own all infrastructure, including prisons/jails. You don’t even have an independent judiciary 1.

So true! I grew up in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada but have lived in New Orleans for over 20 yrs.The rich use the police and courts to ensure that enough of us are criminals with records (even without prison), so we can't get real jobs or rent homes and are forced to take minimum wage jobs at the lowest in the country - $7.25 an hour - the same as it's been for over 30 years. Modern day slavery.

I 100% agree with this comment. I live in the US and when my eyes became opened to the reality of this country. It is overwhelming and daunting. Sadly, majority are still unaware of the systemic nature and insideousness of the corruption we are facing. It has literally crept into every single institution in this country in every sector imaginable. We have a real problem and people need to get involved. Like fifty year ago!

    Excellent host and organizers leaders.
OPP had over 8t inmates till katrina. After many inmate deaths and lawsuits, federal takeover was implimeted 2013 v Gus. So, the federal deal package along with former mayor, Landriue was constant saying the OPP was neglected of mental health and deaths high rate ratios. N😊ow OPP will be OJC all 11 buildings in 1 building with 3 phrases mandated by federal lawuits. 1 was ojc, 2 was kitxhen warehouse, 3 was supposed be for mental health under the federal decree. Instead of shipping the mental ill inmates too St.Gabriel HSU 2 since 2014 being housed and will be brought back for phrase 3. Now we at the case where new mayor and new sheriff opt out against Federal Decree mental health going against the Federal Decree lawsuit. Therefore keeping mental health residents inside OJC will be harmful for already short staff deps & cnas for sucide watch, which means more violent actions without direct supervision guidelines how to handle mental health. Dont take my word, look how the mental health residemt junped from mezzainne head 1st to the concrete died on scene befofe being rushed to umc.

So 110,000,000 divided by 56 if that’s the number of new beds the swing will have those beds cost the taxpayers 1.9 million each

WE, AMERICAN CITIZENS THAT HAVEN'T WENT TO PRISON OUT HERE LOSING OUR CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS BY THE DAY. I THINK THOSE WHO DID'NT GO TO PRISON SHOULD HAVE 1ST PRIORITY WHEN IT COMES TO RESOURCES BEING SPEND ON LOUISIANA CITIZENS, ESPECIALLY THE TAX & REBT PAYING LOUISIANA CITIZENS.😏

I would ask you to do some research into victimless crime. We have a lot of people incarcerated, even in prison, that didn't actually create a victim. Which is the very definition of a crime.

@@amberemma6136🤣🤣🤣WHO PAYS FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT & CRIME PREVENTION?THERE'S ALWAYS A VICTIM OF CRIME. THE TAXPAYERS GENIUS. YEAH, YOU'RE NOT SMART ENOUGH TO ASK ME TO DO ANYTHING FOR YOU. 😏

@@cdaway2024 Whoa. not really sure why you chose to insult me? Do you think that we have the right to appoint rights to someone that we ourselves do not have? I agree that our rights are rapidly being taken. We are fighting the same fight. So I'll ask this- who exactly is the victim in a simple possession? what about driving without a license?
I also don't understand you're logic in bringing up tax payers? The reason I said to look into victimless crimes literally had nothing to do with thinking people who actually commit violent crimes deserved tax money before other people. The reason I suggested that was because maybe if you understood that not everyone in jail or prison should actually be there then maybe you would see things a little differently. I don't advocate for lawlessness. Quite the opposite. But I can't support a system that makes criminals out of thin air either. What would happen if tomorrow they write a law making all red cars illegal to drive? Now everyone who drives a red car is a criminal and deserves to be in jail? No! we have a completely corrupt and out of control justice system that is profiting off of incarceration. It's not okay. We have so many laws on the books that are completely arbitrary and we're written on whims. It's insanity. I can't support that. Law actually is very simple. Do no harm. You follow that, you should be good. But that isn't the world we live in. Right now, even living to that rule you can still wind up incarcerated. That was my point.

@@amberemma6136 SORRY, CONFIDENT IGNORANCE JUST MAKES ME LASH OUT. TOO MANY OF THESE GEN Z KIDS GET ON HERE TYPING ABOUT SHIT THEY KNOW ABSOLUTELY 0% ABOUT. AND THEY KNOW THEY DON'T KNOW WHT THEY'RE TALKING ABOUT. THAT'S COMFORTABLE & WILLING IGNORANCE. THERE'S A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BEING WILLINGLY & COMFORTABLY IGNORANT & THOSE WHO WANT TO ACCURATELY INFORM THEMSELVES WITH FACTS, NOT FEELINGS & MSM TALKING POINTS FROM THE MAINSTREAM TALKING HEADS & ACTIVIST OUT HERE SPREADING LIES & HATE. THERE COULD NEVER BE A VICTIMLESS CRIME BECAUSE IF IT'S A CRIME IT'S COSTING SOMEONE. LAW ENFORCEMENT IS THE ENFORCEMENT OF LAWS THAT PREVENT OR DETER CRIME. THE LOCAL TAXPAYERS FUND LAW ENFORCEMENT & ALL OTHER FACETS OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT.(EVIDENCE OF THIS IS WHEN THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN, NOTHING CHANGES AS FAR AS EVERYDAY OPERATION ON THE STATE & CITY GOVERNMENT LEVEL.) WHEN CRIMES ARE COMMITTED; WHETHER THAT CRIME IS AGAINST A PERSON, PLACE, OR THING, THE TAXPAYERS ARE THE VICTIMS BECAUSE THE TAXPAYERS FUND LAW ENFORCEMENT AKA CRIME PREVENTION. I HOPE THAT WAS CLEAR & PRECISE ENOUGH FOR YOU.
