Lee, thanks for doing this. I'm a NYC session guitarist, & I produce & record in my Manhattan apt. I have an ox box, & it sounds great when I dial up what I like w a 65 non reverb deluxe, 2007 HW AC15, Ceriatone Plexi 50. Before I got the ox, I have an m160 & a 57. But I like living here!!! Haha...Ox is great. I wonder if my 1073 lb would sound better than Apollo-unisons. it certainly does in everything else. Thoughts?

@alanschwartz4047 Thanks for watching and for your comment. Yeah, the OX is a lifesaver - especially when trying to record in an apartment or in a house with other family members. The 1073 LB definitely sounds better than the Apollo Unison preamap emulations but I think unison pres with plugins are a great first step for many that aren't ready to take the big step into analog hardware.

I have two tube amps that I run in stereo behind a full stereo pedal board....is the solution here to get two ox boxes and then just pan them L/R in my DAW to preserve the stereo field coming from the pedals and two amps?

@matturmy Yeah man. That's how you'd have to do it. You may want to just use the left out of OX 1 and the right out of OX 2 in that setup as well - plug those two outs into two inputs on your interface and pan two mono tracks in your DAW hard left and right. Where the OX box is already stereo, you'll want to be sure to remove any stereo effects or room mics from each of OX boxes in the OX software too. Just keep one mono mic emulation on the speaker cabinets and turn off all effects in the OX software. Seems in this situation, especially since the OX is already stereo, it would be easiest to just use one tube amp and use the reverbs and delays in the OX software or DAW - but if you just have to have your pedal reverb and delays then yes, that's what you'd have to do.

uaaaaa sounds so much better with sm57. Its just too dry. You put little eq and some reverb on it and there you go. With oxbox you are using some reverb/room simulation what is deceiving. The oxbox lacks the topend presence a the depth. The treble is there but it sounds digital and sound seems to be always somewhere there behind, not in your face. I purchased the oxbox to avoid the mics and loud amps... But unfortunately mic and real speaker still win - by far. Its exactly as you sad, the oxbox is for guys who want to record their guitars in the bedroom with ok result. And its great product, don't get me wrong. You can record great demo with it. But if you really care about your recording... you go to studio.

@elbi2510 Yeah man. I find it easier to work with a mic'd recording in a mix, especially when you have 2-4 mics to work with. You can use as much of the close mics and room mics as you want and then EQ/process/effect them all separately at any time, instead of at the start and get a stereo recording to work with like you get when recording with the OX. I think it sounds great though and definitely gets you a sound that you can't get in any other way. So, it's good for that. I can always find a use for these types of products and they're great for people who aren't technically inclined or don't have the $ or the space to record with 2-4 mics. Thanks for watching and taking the time to share your thought. I really appreciate it.
