Hungarian "csikós" show and bullwhip

The vast Hungarian Plain is called the puszta, a word meaning barren or empty.
Far from empty, though, the grassy puszta is an environment cultivated by humans and their herds over two millennia. Hungary‘s national park on the puszta, Hortobágy, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site because of this long and benign interaction. Here the horse culture of the ancient Magyars, the precursors of today’s Hungarians, was honed and refined.
A demonstration of Hungarian horses and Hungarian horsemanship on the puszta is a remarkable experience. Whips cracking, the csikoses, or horsemen, gallop round the ring, their baggy royal blue trousers and sleeves billowing behind them.The typical wear, wranglers' outfit and its supplemental bullwhip are also unique to the Hungarian wranglers. They can make their horses play dead, or sit like a dog as the men recline on them. A single horseman controls a team of five horses while standing on the backs of the rear two.

Outstanding ! Only one thing for me was loose the music. The music is in the crack of the whip. My grandfather could crack the bull whip, sounded like a shot. We are Hungarian. Sad I know little about my heritage. Grandfather spoke very little english.

Oh Sam, you cannot imagine how much i was happy to read your comment. Yes i know the music removed the sound of the whip but the continuous "shot" may be disturbing to others. Exist many things on net what can keep alive your heritage. Please do not forget it. Not allowed to forget our roots. Your grandfather may be spoke less about Hungary and about hungarian habits but you can keep it alive in your heart and in your interest.I will add a video here you can listen the real "shot" of the whip :) Anyway interesting .. it is called to Bohos ostor (Bohos whip) and my family name Bohos (Mrs Bohos) but no relation between us :) Keep alive in heart our country there where you live.
