I kinda feel like Everytime there's a review for a phone and the phone is said to perform better than the iPhone the reviewers will always pick the iPhone as their no:1 phone no matter how much Android phones improve. Sometimes I feel like it's a total waste of time.
I was an Android guy for over 12 years. I actually had the Pixel 3 and 4 as my last 2 phones and I hated Apple for all of these years just because it was Apple. I had no reason to hate iPhone except that I felt it was a trendy phone that was overpriced. In March I had to upgrade my phone. It was between the Pixel 5, Galaxy S 21 and the least favorite phone the iPhone 12. Well, my carrier doesn't carry the Pixel anymore so I would have had to get it somewhere unlocked and I needed a phone. Point is, I stepped over to the dark side and I reluctantly purchased an iPhone 12. Well, after the first hour of frustrations trying to learn a new phone I am telling you there is no comparison. The iPhone 12 is better in every way. The video and pictures on this phone are in my opinion the very best on any phone out there. This phone is simple, solid construction, quality personified in every way and I don't care what anyone says, this is the best phone on the market. I just switched, I just came from Android and I was against it. You are stubborn if you don't give this phone a chance. iPhone for the win and it's a landslide!
I'm using Both. I prefer Pixel 5 more than iPhone. For me Pixel 5 offer better and consistent Camera✅ Battery ✅ , better gesture navigation ✅ Design & love the 90Hz❤️. I'm using iphone only for video recording
I could list 100 phones better than the Pixel 5 and I have used one for many months so I can say it is overrated and too expensive compared to its rivals. It really is only for affiliated YT creators and Pixel fandom.
Apple's smartest move was dropping the "r" to designate lower cost. Most people just want the idea of getting a phone with the proper name. Apple finally brought me over this past year and beisdes some small annoyances (no youtube picture-in-picture and some missing apps) the ios 12 updates have made me feel right at home with a smoother system and richer texting with my iPhone friends.
@@yeet-ob4ms sorry i replied to the wrong comment lol. But yeah, youtube only has pip now for premium users. If you dont have an iphone, you can get youtube vanced, block all ads, and get pip back
We split the difference in our house. My wife and I have pixels (4a and 3) and my daughters have iphone 11. In the end, it's about the ecosystems. The specs may matter to heavy users, but to the average person, the ecosystem will drive your decision.
I still cant believe I’ve used iPhone 4 from 2010-2015. Then I changed to android world going from oppo f5 to one plus 3a then galaxy s9 plus. Then on nov last year, i bought the ip12. The most noticeable upgrade was the camera and battery life from my s9. Things i missed from my s9 was better editing pic on gallery, a pause option while recording, finger print scanner, easier pic and vid download from ig, twt and apk’s.
I gave in a while ago and the 12pro max. I also have a note 20 ultra. I noticed having a iPhone is like being in a social club. Even though the note costed about the same. People tend to look at you like a baller having the latest and greatest from Apple.
Make updates 4 years long, make the screen 6.2 inches, add the snapdragon 870 or 888 and put in a newer sensor for $800. That's what Google needs to do. The iPhone just needs a high refresh rate display and a smaller notch
I don't get why you would want to be locked into an ecosystem. I have been burned by proprietary BS so many times. So the Apple ecosystem is actually a turnoff to me. That said, now that ios is allowing widgets and different default apps it's actually easier for me to jump in and out. I use an SE 2020 and S20 right now.
My pixel 3 is the worst phone I’ve ever owned. Terrible quality control, bad performance, bugs, crashes, dropped apps from memory, etc. Apple has won a customer from Google’s incompetence.
I also had a pixel 3 a few years ago, I kept having to return them for a replacement as they had a fault where the screen would randomly start flashing really bright by itself making it unusable. Read that loads others had the same fault. Awful. The pixel 5 looks pretty dope though, but may aswell wait for the 6 now
@@Shooooooop My pixel would shutdown randomly without notice, usually following unplugging from the charger. I missed some very important call from this. My replacement unit camera would constantly go in and out of focus causing me to take 5-10 photos every time hoping that one would be clear. This is issue occurred immediately after my warranty was up. Worst phone ever.
I use both as well. My preference is the pixel 5 however. I just love the amazing battery life, 90hz display, light weight, and all the google android features.
@@BadAndy3 I have both also, kinda.. well the 12 mini.. I end up going with the Pixel 5 most of the time.. the 90hz screen/battery life are a couple of the reasons. But I really like the face unlock on the mini.. hope they bring that back from the pixel 4 to the pixel 6.
If the Pixel was $100 less I'd upgrade from my Pixel 3. (Same camera for 4 years) But it's just too much for essentially slightly less performance than my pixel 3. Plus, that iphone video is killer.
Switched to Pixel 4 from iPhone 11 Pro Max, and I love so bad the Pixel that I had the Pixel 5 last Nov. What a mistake with crappy speakers, awful OS experience and pretty bad app experience and super invasive with ads. Without telling the headache of bluetooth headphones connectivity that the Pixel 5 cant correct (i.e. WhatsApp calls). Try to take photos or videos with Instagram, Snapchat...good luck with that. Cant wait to get back home to get iPhone 12. My next android will be a One Plus. Pixel 5 has been the worst Android experience in a decade, hands down
Apple sells 60hz phones for 800-1200 pounds LOL . Any other company would get laughed at but for Apple, reviewers seem to brush it under the carpet. Four things are the most important on a phone, Screen-Battery-Camera-Price. Pixel5 wins Screen-Battery and Price and they are equal on the camera comparison (both don't offer telephoto lens, Pixel5 still has better night and astro-mode, while day photos are more or less on the same level). The reality is Google has a top line of smartphones this year, and the only thing that is missing is a true flagship.
Pixel 5 doesn’t have better battery life lol and the cameras on the 12 shit on the outdated sensors in the pixel, pixels suck thats why barely anybody buys them. Hopefully the 6 can redeem them before they end up like Htc and nokia
Double the storage, high refresh screen, better battery. .. comparable cameras but a "weaker" chip in the pixel I personally would pick the pixel but that iphone especially the mini is SO Tempting lol
Most people, MOST PEOPLE ARE NOT locked into the iPhone because of the iMessage, AirPods, FaceTime and shit, they just love the iPhone, it’s a premium experience, feeling, status, you feel like your part of a community
2020 the 2 phones I considered were the iPhone SE and the Pixel 4a. I usually choose Android but as you say it's easy to Googlefy an iPhone. I got the Pixel 4a. It had more of what I wanted: Android, headphone jack, and 128gb storage for less than the SE.
Pretty sure you can change the lock screen notifications under: settings > apps & notifications > notifications > disable 'sensitive notifications' Then the notification information won't show direct details until you unlock with fingerprint. Have been using this setting from day 1 with pixel 5. It never went away
@@alxtaco If they’re still working good why wouldn’t you? i know a lot of people who are still on the iphone 7/7 plus and the iphone 8 series and refuse to give up until software support runs out for them or if it breaks. it saves them a ton of money that they used on more important shit
As someone who’s given the Pixel 5 a try Last December, there are two things that phone has done better than my current iPhone 11 Pro Max: Comfortably, and Picture in Picture on TH-cam TV. The former is due to the smaller size which pretty much hits the sweet spot very well on top of feeling better in the hand with that back coating. And Picture in Picture is something I REALLY wish was possible on the TH-cam TV app on iOS. It really makes no sense as to why neither Google nor Apple have made it so that can be done on both TH-cam apps on iOS, especially on iPhone. Actually that’s another thing the Pixel 5 has against the iPhone 11 Pro Max: actual split screen multitasking! With the size of the phone I have, it perplexed me as to how they haven’t figured out how to replicate what has been done on iPad models since the Air 2!
I mean, Google purposely made a weaker phone this time around to reduce costs and target a different market (increase volume at lower margins)... So, kinda weird to compare the two. Of course the newer iPhone is better. Lol!
Yeah Google plan to make a proper flagship model for Pixel 6. But with the new Snapdragon 780 being released I don't think it will be a true flagship but interesting prospect at least
I would be happy to migrate to an Apple product like an iPhone, but there is something that puts me back (and it's not customization today, as the iPhone can achieve) and they are my music files in FLAC format, and to convert them to the Apple format, it's very cumbersome, because they don't accept that format, they have their own, and when trying to convert those files to the Apple format, it would totally lower the resolution, that is, it would lower the audio quality and the truth would not be willing to tolerate it. I loved myself with Android, period!🤷🏻♂️📱🎧🎵🎶🎵👌🏻💯
Good review. It is a tough call but, going Apple always costs more. I was an i-phone user for many years and then decided to switch to Android 7 years ago with a Nexus phone and loved it. I found the Android OS not hard to use and liked the value I was getting compared to Apple. My next Android phone was a Samsung Galaxy S8+ and that was even better except for the single speaker. And now, I just got the new Pixel 4 a5g and enjoying that too. Yes, i-phone has better video quality than the Pixel but the Pixel isn't that bad. And the photos on the Pixel 4 A5g are still very very good even though the camera is on the dated side. I don't miss Apple and even switched my i-Mac Desktop to a Google Pixel Go Book because for my needs, it just works. Both phones are great and you can't go wrong. It just depends what ecosystem you prefer and what your needs are. And remember, the Pixel has stellar battery performance.
With either phone longevity, is a moot point, since the batteries seem to all go to sh!t after a few months anyway and after a year, you're lucky to have 70% charge capacity left. This is the case that I find with most phones that I have owned.
I like the Google pixel smart features but my phone like thousands of other pixel owners have their camera stopped working for entire range of pixel 2 to 5 from late November is a big issue for me. I jumped to Samsung s21 due to this. They need to improve QC a lot.
I am so happy that Google make budget friendly models, I have a Pixel 4a, it's great for a very cool price. Well done Google, you opened your market right up- I'm hoping for a compact 6a but I'll probably not need to upgrade.
I argree with you.for me personally,I just look at them as smart phones. They both do the same thing on different software by the way. I also on a pixel phone as well.
@@sagar61sugar I'm only saying that because if you really think about it you're getting the quality of the iPhone 12 at literally half the price how can you beat that just imagine if Google actually felt like putting a $1,200 phone out there it would demolish the competition
@@10xyourlife65 Well to be true they have clearly struggled to put a high performance product all these years, they cannot beat Apple and Samsung, they accepted it and so they decided to step down a notch. Now they’re just releasing phones with medium specs and trying to save their brand
@@sagar61sugar they really haven't struggled when you first original pixel came out it was beating the iPhone and the Samsung Google has not put the pure hardware in any of their phones if they put the latest processor out with the latest camera lens with a depth sensor and a wide angle sensor they put the pure stock Android in it and takes Samsung's Infinity screen it won't be a contest. Literally the only reason Google has ever struggled to be at the top of the phone list is because they never put the best hardware you can get in their phones
My wife picked an iPhone pro max unlocked for me at Christmas. No brand loyalty here. I picked the one that would last the longest with updates. If a fast, cheap and powerful android phone comes along I’ll buy it for retro gaming.
Jaime, you make great videos on tech, which I enjoy watching every time. One thing I noticed is that when you compare Apple with Google you very rarely mention Apple’s additional security features, which is a big reason for a lot of Apple users to stay with Apple.
Pixel 5 hands down. Android is so much easier to use and Google's Android OS has always been ahead of Apple. Apple is so over rated. Wireless Charging, longer Battery Life, Google Assistant was before Siri, Google bought Motorola which gave Google so much more technical goodies than Apple. Apple has always played catch up to Google that's why they have to hipe up everything.
Hella facts. IPhones are not user friendly and still to this day, they cannot be accessible via computer to even see everything on the phone. The file management in iOS is terrible, cannot adjust the default keyboard size or even add options to it, can't sideload apps. Heck, can't even change the ratio of photos from 4:3 to 16:9. iOS in 2021 is STILL way too limited
Face it, the fact that people claim the iPhone 12 Mini didn't sell well, yet it alone outsold the number of new Pixel units combined should tell you that even Google knew the latest plastic Pixel phones were gonna tank, again. 😁💯
I'm actually debating between pixel 4a 5g vs iphone 12, the pixel 4a 5g does pretty much everything the pixel 5 does at half the price on sale. But my previous experience with pixels really left a bad taste in my mouth though
Funny how the shining aspect of Google is the services, yet they don’t give Google the edge because iPhone can use them. Take Google services away when comparing the iPhone and it’s a bit of a different story. However when privacy comes into play it seems that Apple is taking a stand. I like that.
Google Just needs to copy OnePlus hardware and put their vanilla android OS in it. Boom💥 you got an Awesome phone and OS with timely updates. That's the Android i want 👍
Google knows what the world need, they have so much data to know which components are the most popular or what the people in the world can afford, the world is buying more middle range phones, not a flagship expensive phone
I think the best way to make decisions about any technology is to have a true understanding of what your lifestyle is and then find the technology that conforms to that lifestyle. For me it's the pixel. I don't do a lot of video with my phone so it doesn't matter to me that the iPhone does that better. I think the camera for the pixel is still better than the iPhone. I like the customization that Android allows. I'm not a big fan of Apple and their take it or leave it approach. But I will give them credit for being very consistent. Unlike with the pixel phone you understand what you're getting with the iPhone and you understand what you're getting from Apple as it relates to service.
Because they ate so close overall. Another factor should choose the winner. First, let me say that I am nor am Apple ecosystem fan or even Thune portraying system that keeps users in a coral that gives then fewer options for customization. But that will not sway my choice. The price! Especially now, with end ability top purchase a google phone for hundreds less. Should be a no brainer! And as for longer updates. Very few really keep a handset longer than 3 years anyway. And if they do they rarely really care about updates line most reviewers think they do. Google Pixel ALL the way!
I can't go back to iphone, it's too locked down, not fully customizable, siri is terrible, camera is meh..notch and chins and severely over priced. Not to mention the fragile nature and repair cost.
I use ios & yeah they aren’t customizable and yeah siri does suck but the cameras are usually the best out of the bunch every year for a reason and we don’t do chins around here you must be thinking about those A series galaxy phones & overpriced makes no sense when all iphones & androids cost too damn much unless you’re buying some cheap droid which in that case you get what you pay for.

But maybe, just MAYBE, not everyone wants to buy an iphone. I specifically purchased a Google Pixel 5 for the reason that most of the apps I use are Google related so I thought I'd go with it. I'm 💯% HAPPY with my Pixel 5! No complaints whatsoever. Takes awesome photos as well. It takes care of all my needs. I like Android's because you can always get a different type of phone each time. Compared to iphone. It's always JUST an iphone and no other option. What's the fun in that??
I'm not going to go to the ice cream shop and get the same ice cream flavor for 15+ years straight! I want a little selection! A little fun!
Hey iPhone, Bye Felicia!
Google Pixel 5 for me it is!!

I kinda feel like Everytime there's a review for a phone and the phone is said to perform better than the iPhone the reviewers will always pick the iPhone as their no:1 phone no matter how much Android phones improve. Sometimes I feel like it's a total waste of time.
I have a Google pixel 2 XL that I'm still using that's better than most of my friends iPhones.
You can adjust in settings for the Pixel to not show content from notifications, not an issue
Yesh you can literally do this on any android phone lol
I'm using Both. I prefer Pixel 5 more than iPhone. For me Pixel 5 offer better and consistent Camera✅ Battery ✅ , better gesture navigation ✅ Design & love the 90Hz❤️. I'm using iphone only for video recording
Honestly the S20FE beats both hands down, hell one could even go for the OnePlus 8 or the Xiaomi Mi11 if Apple is not a must for most people
No way apple is on diffrent level with best user experience and ecosystem.
Dude, you stole my comment! Lol I have the S20 Fe it's seriously one of the best phones for the money, especially with a trade in.
I could list 100 phones better than the Pixel 5 and I have used one for many months so I can say it is overrated and too expensive compared to its rivals. It really is only for affiliated YT creators and Pixel fandom.
Outstanding video Jaime 👍
Apple's smartest move was dropping the "r" to designate lower cost. Most people just want the idea of getting a phone with the proper name. Apple finally brought me over this past year and beisdes some small annoyances (no youtube picture-in-picture and some missing apps) the ios 12 updates have made me feel right at home with a smoother system and richer texting with my iPhone friends.
Wait you’re on ios 12? or 14. also no youtube pip is more of a youtube issue than an ios issue
@@yeet-ob4ms apple has added picture in picture with ios 14. If you're still running ios 12 you must have an iphone 6 or something
No pip for TH-cam is TH-cam giving iPhone the shaft, we had pip for a short time, then TH-cam made Apple get rid of it(I believe).
@@cmcm5878 i was talking to the original commenter. but nah the reason we don’t have yt pip is because of youtube, it’s not an ios issue
Every year, it gets more and more difficult for me to justify not giving up and buying an iPhone.
Buy an S21 instead. Google always disappoints while Samsung gets better and better each year, more than redeeming its previous track record
I gave in a while ago and the 12pro max. I also have a note 20 ultra. I noticed having a iPhone is like being in a social club. Even though the note costed about the same. People tend to look at you like a baller having the latest and greatest from Apple.
@@cmcm5878 I have a note 20 ultra.
@@TechnoLawyer
And why do you want an iPhone then if you have the Note?
@@cmcm5878 is the s21 better than the s20 fe in terms of value for money atm?
Make updates 4 years long, make the screen 6.2 inches, add the snapdragon 870 or 888 and put in a newer sensor for $800. That's what Google needs to do. The iPhone just needs a high refresh rate display and a smaller notch
I don't get why you would want to be locked into an ecosystem. I have been burned by proprietary BS so many times. So the Apple ecosystem is actually a turnoff to me.
That said, now that ios is allowing widgets and different default apps it's actually easier for me to jump in and out. I use an SE 2020 and S20 right now.
Lol that was me last year iphone se 2020 and s20 ultra 5g...this year I have the iPhone 12 & s21 ultra 5g
Really enjoy both for diff reasons but at the end of the day I'll take the iPhone with Google service's, lol
I would say it's very difficult to choose. Both have it's unique features. I use both phones.
Same lenses but the 5 does way better pics, the processor allows for better ai clean up
@@earnistse4899 Actually not much difference. The Pixel 3 processor is just as fast and it has the extra processor for photos.
@@TheEmrickman the 765 inside the 5 has a way better ai block
Hopefully the 6 can redeem them before they end up like Htc and nokia
the most important on a phone: smooth experience every time you touching even within 3rd apps (combine hardware and software optimizing)
@@tienvu2239 That's also true, but in our days any mid-high tier phone offers a good experience.
Double the storage, high refresh screen, better battery. .. comparable cameras but a "weaker" chip in the pixel
I personally would pick the pixel but that iphone especially the mini is SO Tempting lol
Actually just slightly better battery, worse camera and much worse chip, speakers, build quality, durability, water resistance, longevity etc.
Most people, MOST PEOPLE ARE NOT locked into the iPhone because of the iMessage, AirPods, FaceTime and shit, they just love the iPhone, it’s a premium experience, feeling, status, you feel like your part of a community
Since I'm an individualist that's another reason why I use pixel
@@josephupton3601 Hey brother! Welcome to the Pixel community ;)
And Boom goes the dynamite!! Android for the win
Apple > Google
Google A > Siri
I used to rock ip 11 now with Pixel 5, couldn’t be happier

Loved this video Jaime. I have to agree with you even though I love Google. I still think that red color is so beautiful.
I wonder how Samsung was able to push 4K 60fps front facing video on the Galaxy S10 with a Software Update. I wish Google could do the same.
So Huawei’s watches are still behind the Apple Watch?
I disagree with the photos. They definitely weren't similar

Pretty sure you can change the lock screen notifications under: settings > apps & notifications > notifications > disable 'sensitive notifications'
Then the notification information won't show direct details until you unlock with fingerprint. Have been using this setting from day 1 with pixel 5. It never went away

7:49 I want a phone with photos that let you read words and numbers when you pinch to zoom.
I just feel storage of Google photos unlimited should also be considered while comparing because over the time saving photos is a big thing
No longer a feature in the Pixel. That's why it's not mentioned
@@Pocketnow I read the Pixel 5 is going to retain unlimited photo storage while the new Pixels will not.
Video trash, pixel pays off much more in construction, battery, 90 hertz screen, cameras and everything!
Do you think Pixel 5 is a better buy now at £529 (price dropped by £70) in the UK as compared to iPhone 12 (128GB) at £849?
Better value for the 5 but neither of them are worth the price
I would be happy to migrate to an Apple product like an iPhone, but there is something that puts me back (and it's not customization today, as the iPhone can achieve) and they are my music files in FLAC format, and to convert them to the Apple format, it's very cumbersome, because they don't accept that format, they have their own, and when trying to convert those files to the Apple format, it would totally lower the resolution, that is, it would lower the audio quality and the truth would not be willing to tolerate it. I loved myself with Android, period!🤷🏻♂️📱🎧🎵🎶🎵👌🏻💯
Based on purely two things. The colour option/spec and shady google privacy tactics the choice has never been more clear. Iphone
In Canada the Pixel 5 is $800 and the iPhone 12 is $1,200 for the same 128 GB of storage. I've already made my decision.
I like the Google pixel smart features but my phone like thousands of other pixel owners have their camera stopped working for entire range of pixel 2 to 5 from late November is a big issue for me. I jumped to Samsung s21 due to this. They need to improve QC a lot.
If I had to choose , I'd probably go pixel. Only because I prefer android.
Recently, traded in my iphone 11 for the s21.
Currently using S21, but would definitely consider Pixel 5 as a backup phone.
What’s the wallpaper on the pixel?
I am so happy that Google make budget friendly models, I have a Pixel 4a, it's great for a very cool price. Well done Google, you opened your market right up- I'm hoping for a compact 6a but I'll probably not need to upgrade.

Google should quit the smartphones market.

Neither companies care about their products nor consumer experience.
Google just doesn't seem to care even more.
I would like to see an assistant comparison inside a car or a very noisy ambient.
