So glad that I found your video on how to load Minky on a longarm. It was right before I was to try quilting with Shannon Cuddle for the first time. I was nervous as I began but the fabric loaded well and quilted up beautifully! Thank you for giving me a bit of courage just when I needed it.

So helpful as I am new to quilting and learning how to use a long arm. I am quilting my first quilt top using Mindy soon and trying to learn everything I can.

Thank you for explaining the selvage for the minky. It is much appreciated. I did one the wrong way and it was so hard keeping it straight.

I have wondered how easy it is to work with minky. Looks like something I can do. I'm anxious to see you quilt with that machine. I'm still learning with my long arm. I have some go to designs but I haven't tried anything to fancy yet. Thanks for another great tutorial.

One more thought: If your quilt top has a top and bottom orientation, do you want to take into account the direction of the pile/texture of the Minky? Do you want the "smooth" direction of the Minky to run from top to bottom, sort of like with corduroy? Or does it matter? (I'm commenting at Minute 16:38)

I guess a person needs to practice with minky. I have watched other videos and some say to put the selvage on the leaders and others like you say put is going down the sides.

Why do you use safety pins instead of hat pins? Is it specific for minky?

I'm assuming you straightened the top and bottom edges of the Minky so there wasn't any diagonal stuff going on! I have been trimming the edges of the Minky I'm working with now (A Gnome to Fa La) so they're straight in relation to what they're being attached to.

OK. Now you addressed it in Minute 15! You are correct - straighten those edges. Perfect lesson; many thanks, Rob!

I don't know about the one he is using, but you can go to Shannon fabric and find a store locator. Missouri star has minky fabric, and Cali Quilt Co
