My son is coming for Xmas from out-of-state on an Amtrack train. So I'm giving him 1 of my almost new e-scooters to take back. (His balance is better than mine.) I checked Amtrak's policy online, (for ESCOOTERS - ebikes have different rules) and they currently seem to accept them, based on values like ability to fold, no seat or pedals and must be "certified by a nationally recognized testing laboratory." Mine is, so I've been focused on reducing its weight so it's easier to lift and carry. A Niu KQi-Air never seemed so desirable. I feel it's a good gift, even if its attributes aren't a good fit for him, so he can better determine his preferences / needs (weight, speed, battery capacity, suspension, etc.) before buying another that is.
Do you currently have the KQI Air or do you have another scooter currently? The NIU line of scooters seem to be fairly reputable. What are you doing to bring the weight of the scooter down? You will have to let me know how it all goes!
The Klima is definitely the best value out of these here. The only Apollo scooter I really like and think is a decent value is the GO model around $1k. All the others seem to be a little overpriced.
The Apollo Go is a perfect price at $1000 IMO. At $1099, it's doable, but I would almost rather go a different direction to be honest. There are scooters like the GoTrax GX1, currently at $999 that I would easily out-perform the Go. The GoTrax 0 is $799 at the moment and has slightly better top speed and range. Both of them are slightly heavier then the Go, but worth the extra weight I think. I am sure the Apollo line is a bit nicer than the GoTrax line, but they are not a new brand and I think the difference in price and specs that you get with GoTrax would be noticeable and worth saving some money and getting a better performing scooter. Don't get me wrong though, I like the Apollo Go and the V4X at it's current price, but Apollo is definitely over-priced in general.
@@ElectricScooterGuy I agree....I think Best Buy sells some of the Apollo scooters as well which is good to know. I really like the looks of the GO model....I think I may have to purchase an Apollo one day to scratch that itch lol. I just like the way some of their models look.
@@retroshaverdude6671 They adjust their prices more than any scooter company I have been following by far! Every once in a while, you can find what I believe are some good deals, but they will jump up....and then back down again! I really have considered getting the Apollo Go as well. It is a decent scooter considering performance and size! 25 Mph top speed is as fast as I need to go 90% of the time. The range is a little less than my Journey Max, but in a nicer package and with suspension and higher top speed, although the 0-15 is pretty much identical.
Someone is now better equipped to be a Doordash employee. NFC ring? Great idea, but everytime I hear "NFC" I think "NFL". A quick take off may make a rider more acceptable of a slower top speed. And a lower top speed COULD make you safer by not quietly passing cars at will, or unsafe if you're riding on a street where cars are backing up behind you.
My wife said the same thing when I told her that I ordered an NFC ring, lol. She was like "Why would you get some trinket to wear around?" 😂For me, acceleration is more important than top speed, but I can't quite handle the acceleration of the Klima in X-Mode as of yet.... or the top speed for that matter, lol. I am mostly interested in having a scooter with a higher top speed for jumping out on road where the speed limit is 35mph or more. It's rare that I have to do that, but it's unavoidable at times.
