Beyoncé has an ok voice, but what she did with the musical arrangement is what makes this performance a flop. Anyone who knows of the original, performed by He who needs not be named, knows that the incomparable vocals matched WITH the music is what makes this song so special. You can listen to him sing it on the "Purple Rain Tour" of 1984 or the "New Power Soul Festival Tour" of 1998 and the song never loses anything, and when he did take things away, like when he sang it acoustically at the piano in 1998, or slowed it down like in 2000-2009 he had the TALENT to make up the difference and still produce unforgettable renditions. Which Beyoncé does not. Like Sidney Prescott said on Scream 4, "Rule number one of remakes, don't fuck with the original!" I know that some people won't like this comment, but I don't care. I've been listening to Prince for a long time and I have heard COUNTLESS renditions of him singing this song through the years, and I'm here to tell you that this is NOT it! When you've heard half of the versions that I've heard then you can challenge this comment!

Hi Purple Rain, yes I am a big Prince fan. I saw him 4 times in Germany live. Okay Prince is Prince, one of the best, but he performs not every concert like the other. We are all human with good or bad days. And yes, the same to Beyonce too. But at all for me, she is the best Prince cover singer at all. There some other tracks of Beyonce performing Prince songs. They are so great that you can feel Prince on the stage like a smiling angel. Sure they are different and thats good so. I am happy then a hear Prince songs made by Beyonce. She keeps him alive in a perfekt way.
