I remember that first month of the academy praying to the lord above. But, after that first month this started looking up for me. I remember every and each time of being smoked in the academy. Who remember their first month? Congrats to these recruits. Watching this remind me of the time I went almost 10 years ago.

I remember my time at the Las Vegas Metro academy well. Graduated 4 years ago. Definitely tough. Congrats to all my new brothers and sisters. Stay dangerous on the street.

I'm going to apply this year coming from cali. How long would you say the hiring process is and how difficult is it to get in? Congrats!!

@timothykeels1067 are you going to lateral, or are you brand new to policing?

@timothykeels1067 It took me 10 months to complete the process 5 years ago, but they have streamlined the process since then.
The academy is challenging, but nothing you can't make it through.
Study the 400 codes and show up in shape, and you will already be ahead of the curve.

What’s so odd to me is why are they all from different police departments all in one academy? Do the Agencies they are going to not have there own academy and wouldn’t each PD have different policy they would want implemented and taught to their officers? Can some explain to me

Larger agencies have their own academy. Smaller agencies don’t have their own so they need to send them somewhere to get basic training. Anything specific to their department will be learned while they are on probation for 1 year.

@@neilwarren505I see, still kind of odd to me, at that point they should just send them all to CHP academy

@@stephanrandall4534 Even LAPD has outside agencies at it’s academy. Airport PD, Port, Inglewood PD, Park Rangers…they all attend LAPD. It’s actually very common. CHP is a live in academy and their tactics are significantly different from a city officer that responds to radio calls.

Understandable, it’s just odd to me I’ve never seen anything like that

It's impossible for every small agency to have their own separate academy. Regional academies get all agencies within the county on the same page.
