Many years ago i was in an austrian "radical" left student group. Non-hierachical, anti-racist, feminist (...) all the good stuff.
In a plenum we discussed the upcoming anniversary of Israel's establishment and some wanted to organise a (pro-israel) event. (i was pretty new to this group)
I told them that i thought it's strange to praise any nation whatsoever and given it's lead by a right wing fundamentalist, even more strange. What followed was getting debated down by two people while the rest remained silent - they weren't super harsh or anything but the undertone of me just being a bit of an uneducated idiot that (unkowingly) enables anti-semitism was pretty clear.
After that was over, members told me - in secret - that they kinda agree, but that that's something i just can not say or debate.
This should have shaken me a lot more than it did back then.

yeah thats why there is anarchist groups who actually try to manage power imbalances. these post autonomous, anti auth. commie groups are just claiming to be democratic. they are just cults like the auth. groups. most small political groups are cults, if you like it or not. Anarchist have a destinction between warrented and unwarrented hierarchy, e.g. someone is really good in smth of course they will teach people in this thing, which is a logical hierarchy. most post autonomous groups are being led by manipulating idiots who cannot step outside of their ideology and are just elitist pieces of shit. like fr how many of these groups we have seen and they are all the laughing stock of anarchists. it has come to the point were i feel better working with leninists, bc they are atleast honest, we both know we are enemies. these post autonomists are just trying to take anarchist aesthetics to cover their authoritarian leaning and they are lying all day. no anarchist takes smbdy seriously who defends a states right to exist. 1) sure, the words of some people will always carry more weight than others regarding topics - i don't want my plumber to program a website and i don't want a programmer to mess with my piping. That's not what non-hierachical means.
      2) using "Common Sense" and "Natural" as arguments is circle-logic. It's also common sense & natural for sons to kill their fathers, but we largely stoped doing that because it's stupid.
      3) Organisation requieres structures and responsibilities. I've been working for a long time now and in my experience strict hierachy really hinders problem solving and the further "Up" someone is, the more immune they get to consequences of their actions and the more detachted they get from reality which is very bad for an organisation as a whole.

I recently started my master's degree at uni kassel. I did my bachelor's at a small german university which didn't have much political activism. Imagine my surprise when I entered the main campus and there were two huuuuuuge signs stating
"Our campus is no platform for hate, violence and hate speech.
At the university of kassel study and teach many people of different nationalities and religions. Universities are places of open dialogue, marked by mutual tolerance and respect. Only arguments, reason and compassion count here. (So far so saying nothing at all but then:)
    It is clear to us:
We do not look away when humans suffer.
The right of the state of Israel to exist is not to be questioned.
The right of the Palestinian people to their own state is not to be questioned.
The responsibility of the hundred year conflict lies not only with one party.
Any form of terrorism is to be condemned.

The BSW (the Alliance Sahra Wagenknecht) is a party centered around the founder Sahra Wagenknecht who is a stalinist and therefore follows politics that are in support of Russia over helping the people in Germany. It is authoritarian left.
Lastly, the Grüne (the Greens). They are environmental left.
I would say all of them are political left, with the exception of the BSW which has because of the beliefs of its founder more overlap with the far right than the left. Ironically probably the only party some of you would call left out of this list.

@@mek101whatif7 A fundamental point that any serious leftist will need to accept, though, is that being German (or any other national form of identification) is a fake identity - and that Germany (and every other capitalist country) is a bourgeois state representing only a particular ruling class. If you're an everyday person living in Germany, and you say something like "As a German, I'm ashamed of what my government is doing" or whatever, you clearly buy into the idea that the German state does indeed represent you and that you have some kind of deeper connection to an instrument of bourgeois class rule. In a First-World context (and in many countries outside of the First World, too), nationalism is the primary narrative of propaganda to subjugate the masses, and while most people will, to some extent, have been indoctrinated with it (meaning this is certainly not an indictment of well-meaning people in this comments section), it's certainly worth pointing out that even left-leaning people are still strongly caught up in this framework.

It rather looks plausible to me that most of the population in germany have decided to characterise installed living circumstances as a heap of chances to reach goals in their lives. They are referring positively to the circumstances. And they are referring positively to "their" government as well because he is the one who guarantees the circumstances they happily can compete within.
The next conclusion (!) for a nationalist is to stand up for his country, even if killing is included. In that way nationalists feel identical with the reasoning of their government, and they feel shame, if their germany looks "bad" in the eyes of other imperialistic players.

Being a bit older, I grew up with "free palestine" being the antifa thing to say, simply for the fact that in this particular dynamic, Palestine is the oppressed party both materially and international-outreach-wise, removed from deeper cultural considerations regarding Germany's own past.
Palestine was simply the underdog most deserving of solidarity in this particular dynamic so to speak.
Of course, As today, for most it was just a shallow talking point and an excuse to shout this phrase or that buzzword on demonstrations, and feel justified wearing those way-too-cool looking scarves(Kuuffiyeh).
Anyway, It feels to me like this sentiment turned by 180 degrees almost overnight, and everybody just went "okay, guess we're for this side now", and I would simply love to know who started that and who was threatening enough that everybody up and adopted this complete face-heel turn without critically examining and debating it first at large.
It's honestly terrifying to me, how much power strawman arguments like "You're the essence of all the evil you purport to fight if you don't adopt this view unquestioningly right now" still hold.

On the 3rd of october, the german state and it's patriotic bootlikers celebrated the "unification" of Germany. Germany was split in two in a response to its own crimes. Four days later, people in Gaza took down a border fence that was imposed on them, after their people were split into at least four sections, for the single crime of living on land that zionists wanted to colonise. Of course, the german press didn't see any of this. They called it an unprovoked attack, motivated by nothing but their supposed hatred for jews. Yes, german propaganda is entirely calculated. But it also only works because the german public is entirely underinformed about Palestine, the german war aims in eastern Europe, the Ghettos, the scramble for Africa. And yet, hearing the same few informations about Nazi Germany over and over again makes them think they know more than anyone else, and unfortunately well-meaning liberals outside feed into this delusion by looking up to Germany as some sort of positive example. What frightens me is, if germans actually saw the things for how they actually are, I think they'd rather drop their red, green, yellow and black exterior and just become open and proud Nazis instead of standing for any of the principles they claim and getting rid of their internal german exceptionalism

It's so sad to see how the leftists in Germany break again because of this, they are criticised for beeing anti-Semitic because of their engagement towars the palestenian liberation and are dismissed by a lot of people for their solidarity with israel - that's the much bigger part in public. It breaks my heart. I criticise in both directions but mostly the anti d's who dismiss every action for freedom that includes acknowledging the crimes of Israel. What i critise about the others is that they fall into blind "fuck Israel" rhetoric (international problem) i know the reasons for it but as a leftist i don't see any reason for any countrie to exist but i also don't hate one single one and i won't say any countrie deserves existence less. We have to accept this fact to reuinite and find a solution for everyone. Leftist should hate the concepts and structures like nationalism, racism, colonialism but never the countrie or the people, we fight for the people and id wish we would not segregate like it's a football game.

Its so sad to see both-sideism between a genocidal, apartheid collonialism and its victims presented as normal rational stance. How are even supposed radical left Germans the purest liberals.
Please learn the difference between a state and a country. Should apartheid South Africa, with far more mild policies, should not be abolished? Is there two sides for that also?
Israel must be dismantled as a state as it is only current regime with racial, religious and ideological supremacy written into their laws, and the only current regime genociding and colonizing a population. People who you just cant see as equals from what i read.

you are really on point. btw, iranian revolution song is a banger I was so shocked hearing it haha. as a forigner I feel german left lacks the materialistic understanding and is too moral and idealistic based plus as 23:28 saying this viewpoint causes them to still feel mythical deep inside.

Tbf all the left leaning germans i know have stopped supporting antifa. The decision to support Isael split the german left into pieces...

The actual German left is antizionist (tautology), and most German self-described antifas I know are also pro-Palestine. The pro-Israel "antifa" is a sect that's getting smaller and smaller and has increasingly merged with the German establishment, which is why discourse is affected negatively and to the right of the rest of the world (maybe except Austria).

@@BesDMarx tbh Die Linke is seeing a lot of its members leaving after them trying and kicking out Ramsis Kilani. So maybe this is a transformative change.

Well it didn't split, because any Zionist movement that claims to be leftist, isn't leftist to start with.

@swagatochatterjee7104 To be fair Die Linke does not really represent the actual german leftist movement.
They are more like a big tent somewhat left-lening party with some amount of liberal anti-capitalist tendencies.
Most leftist that actually vote either vote them for being the least evil or vote minor parties.

    Excellent video, thank you!
Just a request for us who suffer misophonia, can you please look into techniques to reduce mouth sounds when recording into the mic? It isn't too complex, but it would be great for a lot of people. I hope this doesn't come across negatively... It's just something we can't control and for some people it's unbearable. Thank you!
