Only the Mitsubishi had that special sound while accelerating. Almost a bit like a 5 cylinder engine. This car wasn't the fastest but so special. Great!

@@kuacisudo995 you are kinda right. i couldnt remember that it was named just Lancer WRC04 and later WRC05. im not the only one who mistakenly adds the EVO to its name as the earlier 2002-2003 were named Evolution 7
@@DmitryShkeirov Already the Lancer Evo WRC was based on the Cedia, so the Evo was in its name purely for marketing reasons. :)

The Spoiler is awesome and unique for this WRC car , used to play the crap out of it on GT4 with Nos it was mad
First you think it would be cool to have this car and then you see it takes 5 mechanics with all the equipment and tools to make it run. Makes watching it drive good enough

Congratulations! This footage is historic and fantastic! Back in 2004, there was still no TH-cam. Where did you publish these videos at that time? Were you filming just for your personal archive?
I remember snippets like these were released on the official team sites back in the Real player days. Skoda Motorsport had the same at least going back to 2002

I think that this Lancer WRC04 is a prototype of the WRC05 version, because it has the WRC04 front but the rear quarters are based on the WRC05 version, with a WRC04 rear bumper. Later on because of changes within the regulations Mitsubishi had to close the open fender by installing a bumper as the same width of the rear quarters.

Unfortunately, it was slower than its competition. The wierd spoiler made it competitive

That car with a 6 speed transmission and being more reliable could be a challenger for the 2005 season. For 2004 it was too early on the life of the car, they needed to resolve the reliability issues.
Looks more like an development version of the 2005 car. To me it looks the rear wing was bigger than the 04 car and the wheel arches were also different.

Bonjour ces tests de la Mitsubishi lancer Evo wrc c'était pas plutôt en 2005 ? Et chaussé en Pirelli ? Car la version 2004 était différente et monter en Michelin enfin c'est dommage que la marque japonaise est décidé de stopper son programme qui par la même occasion embarquait la branche sportive ralliart pour manque de résultats et pourtant sur la vidéo on voit bien que la lancer avait du potentiel notamment avec Gigi Galli à noté que la marque reviendra brièvement en WRC en 2007 avec toujours Gigi Galli Xavi Pons et Toni gardemeister mais tous en privé
Bonjour, ces tests datent de l'année 2004, c'est sûr. Oui, ils pourraient être avec la version 2005. Plus tard, je publierai d'autres tests 2005, terre et asphalte et aussi d'autres tests de la version 2006 qui n'ont pas fait leurs débuts officiels. Merci.

Because it is actually better. The previous 01-03 WRC cars are based on the Evo and suck, slower than every other car. This one is actually competitive cuz they can make the aero however they want

to me the car was simply too long. The chassis seems stretched especially in the front section, you can see how much it understeer on entry. The whole concept is messed up.
Its actually shorter than the impreza equivalent, while having a longer wheelbase, meaning the front section is actually shorter than the subaru and the focus RS WRC
