Knotty's mom may not love him very much but the other female adores him. I think he is just so sweet. I wish he could play with the other babies but his care giver won't let him go long enough to do anything. To bad she can't nurse him. I hope he does well.

I think there's more to it than meets the eye - his aunts/carers are part kidnappers/surrogate mothers - they probably are sterilised and just want to have a baby to hold onto and care for for their own satisfaction. So far they are holding on to Knotty like a toy and that's hurting his social skill development :(
Arroz Marisco Ahhhh. I see it now. So sad. But Knotty's Mum must be ok with it since she relented to let him go with her once the 2 females were with her. Oh & I noticed Dopey is much more stable on the flat areas of the road & rocks than the grass. I love how patient his Mum is!
Arroz Marisco you're correct. There was a documented case of macaques kidnapping a kitten (yes, a kitten) and the poor thing was starving because they wouldn't let it go. This went on for days, with the kitten being stolen by different monkeys as though it was a prize. Some tourists decided to take action and tried to rescue it, but a dominant male threatened them. The tourists had to develop a scheme to trick the monkeys, and thankfully it worked. The battered, starving kitten was finally saved. Whew!
That's when I became hooked. First picture of Dopey going over to investigate Knotty. Just marvelous. Thank You ever so much Aaroz. Bringing joy 😊 to my life!

It's really sad that even in the monkey world there's bad and good mom's. I can't believe how this mother monkey doesn't care about her baby monkey. Thank God he has loving Aunties. One of them is really young, but their better mom's than his own mother.

How is Knotty ever going to learn if he is never allowed to play with others or explore his environment? He must still need to be nursed- if his mom is seldom around how does he get enough to eat?
I was wondering the same thing.I know sometimes a female will breast feed a baby that isn't hers if she has milk to give them.I know there is a lot of abuse by mother macaques towards to their babies sometimes,they say its because the way she was raised also,just like us humans some people who were abused as a child will grow up and become a abuser also,its so sad.I'm glad Knotty has family memebers to watch over him
I think his aunts/carers also have a certain kidnapper mindset ( they probably have been sterilised - can't confirm that until I could find markings on their chests - so far I haven't see their full frontal yet ) and they look after little Knotty for their own satisfaction only, not really trying to nuture him and imparts essential social skills to him :(
I agree it’s very odd behavior! Not the way Knotty normal is at all. In the past she’s trying to escape to run to Mom and they’re holding her back. Not only does Knotty not seem to care but both her OLDER SIBLING AND AUNT SEEM TERRIFIED for Knotty to go anywhere near her Mom. They both keep glancing over there and making sure they constantly have Knotty under control.

I wonder if knotty's caregivers are high up on the hierarchy in this group & Knotty's mom is lower in the hierarchy and they kinda stole Knotty from his mother? But they know he needs to nurse so they give him to her for that but she can't really do anything about them taking her baby so she goes & does her own thing but stays close so he can nurse? It's a theory. It does happen in primate society. This could be what's going on here? You don't see Knotty's mother hanging out with these two, maybe they did indeed steal him from her. That's why they won't let him go & play.

Good question! I always wondered about Comfort suckling and if it happens and how often it happens. Also, I'll bet that is also right about this being one tenth of the story and still only conjecture on our part. I guess we can only guess! dang it!

For a story thats suppose to be about knotty, dopey sure is in it alot. Knotty is my favorite, and i was all happy about this one supposedly being all about knotty, but atleast half of the story was about dopey. That really sucked. Love you videos but i am getting tired of seeing dopey all the time. And the only reason that i am tired of seeing dopey is because all he does is breastfeed. Its just really boring watching dopey. Even though he is so cute.
I disagree, Knotty never seems to coo like the other babies do when they're kidnapped, he is fond of the one carer and plays with older cousins. He was comforted by both the time his mom bite his tail. Too much caring going on to be a kidnapping. IMHO

You just know what they are thinking, or what they are going to get into. It seems that Knotty has had more freedom in the past, just the last couple times having no freedom., an I thinking right? It may have started, just helping, since mama just don't have the mother instincts any longer, they just decided they keep and love him. Just has become extreme! Lol I was wondering about that to lol, do you notice how relaxed they get when they're getting groomed. They make sure the monkey that's grooming get to the areas they're trying to reach, they lay down and get comfortable lol I even said that shit must feel good to them bc they instantly get relaxed lol
I am very concerned about Dopey. He seems to have regressed where he can't hardly walk even a few steps. And looks like it's taking tremendous effort to latch on to nurse. Do you know if Dopey has any siblings?
Sorry about the confusion. My long videos are 3-4 weeks behind. Short special ones like " Is Dopey betting better ? " is recent usually happened just less than 4-5 days ago. Dopey is certainly progressing though a bit slow !

God forgive me but i would love to snatch or better yet(maybe not,but if) one was orphaned and raise up one...i know it would be hard work,like no other but it would be nice; but eventually i know i would have to release them to their natural home...
Poor baby. His aunties are great mothers. Much better than his real mom is. Sadly being warched by aunties means he can't play, learn or socialize. Only mother can say he's allowed to go off and play. So the aunties responsible for him won't/can't let him go. His terrible mother is causing him to miss out on vital states of his life and development. He needs play mates to teach him the ways of the world. His social status. How to fight and love. Make life long friends and enemies. If she keeps this up he won't stand a chance in the real world. He needs some motherly affection. Wouldn't doubt it if her treatment twords him will cause emotional stunting. Good thing he isnt female. Don't want mom's mothering to wear off on a future mother. Heck it may have been how she herself was raised. I wonder why she didn't just abandon him at birth? She basically has already left him as you only see them together when she decides to give him a suckle and even then he has to be fast and inhale his milk cause she sticks around 5 minutes tops.

Oh no I agree 100 percent on then ruining him socially and stunting his learning. I had not noticed the kidnapping angle. I did notice them try to keep them apart. I figured that was due to them always having him and growing attached. Not wanting to give him up. I did have a fleeting thought of them being of age and wondering why they didn't have a baby of their own. This spaying thing really is affecting them in many ways. Too many ways. Now to add to all the other theories, it seems these females who are denied babies are desperate to mother. More kidnappings. You may have evidence to all this mess this birth control is causing.
His mom is low on the feeding hierarchy and as a consequence has little milk. If she got more food she would give more milk. Hence the caretakers so she can forage for food without worrying about her child.

I am seeing this video for the first time. I saw that too but I think she is doing it to make him sit still and not try to run from her. She wouldn't let him go so he could play.

I was just starting and I didn't know much about Knotty then and didn't realise how it'd unfold.

Lol I was wondering about that to lol, do you notice how relaxed they get when they're getting groomed. They make sure the monkey that's grooming get to the areas they're trying to reach, they lay down and get comfortable lol I even said that shit must feel good to them bc they instantly get relaxed lol

I am very concerned about Dopey. He seems to have regressed where he can't hardly walk even a few steps. And looks like it's taking tremendous effort to latch on to nurse.
Do you know if Dopey has any siblings?
Sorry about the confusion. My long videos are 3-4 weeks behind. Short special ones like " Is Dopey betting better ? " is recent usually happened just less than 4-5 days ago. Dopey is certainly progressing though a bit slow !

Poor baby. His aunties are great mothers. Much better than his real mom is. Sadly being warched by aunties means he can't play, learn or socialize. Only mother can say he's allowed to go off and play. So the aunties responsible for him won't/can't let him go. His terrible mother is causing him to miss out on vital states of his life and development. He needs play mates to teach him the ways of the world. His social status. How to fight and love. Make life long friends and enemies. If she keeps this up he won't stand a chance in the real world. He needs some motherly affection. Wouldn't doubt it if her treatment twords him will cause emotional stunting. Good thing he isnt female. Don't want mom's mothering to wear off on a future mother. Heck it may have been how she herself was raised. I wonder why she didn't just abandon him at birth? She basically has already left him as you only see them together when she decides to give him a suckle and even then he has to be fast and inhale his milk cause she sticks around 5 minutes tops.
But I suspect his aunts/carers are part-kidnappers as well- I have yet to see their full frontals to check for markings but I suspect they are sterile as well hence they take care of Knotty partly because of their own desire to mother .Holding on to him like a toy - you see them actually fighting and arguing over him from time to time - they are taking away his champ to develop important social skills.
Oh no I agree 100 percent on then ruining him socially and stunting his learning. I had not noticed the kidnapping angle. I did notice them try to keep them apart. I figured that was due to them always having him and growing attached. Not wanting to give him up. I did have a fleeting thought of them being of age and wondering why they didn't have a baby of their own. This spaying thing really is affecting them in many ways. Too many ways. Now to add to all the other theories, it seems these females who are denied babies are desperate to mother. More kidnappings. You may have evidence to all this mess this birth control is causing.

His mom is low on the feeding hierarchy and as a consequence has little milk. If she got more food she would give more milk. Hence the caretakers so she can forage for food without worrying about her child.
