    I don’t believe I’ve ever changed spark plugs as easily as these changed. Amazingly simple.

    A tip when replacing the left and right air tubes is Mark a line with a black eraser to know exactly where it's aligned to fit perfectly.

    Great Video! I would just recommend unplugging battery underneath the hood first as the car is still grounded. Metal on metal contact can create a spark or even worse, a short.

    AutoZone sells a socket that has a dedicated extension built into the body. The advantage of this design is you don’t have to worry about the extension coming out during renovator installation. This also has a small magnet in the body that keeps the plug from falling out of the socket and either getting stuck or worse the electrode tip breaking off and falling into the cylinder causing pretty certain engine damage. Extension has a limited range ball joint which allows some angling of the socket. This design does work and should help for the removal of the rear bank of plugs on front wheel drive vehicles. I mention AutoZone but also see them on Amazon with either a 6 or 10” extension bar. The socket is built into the design so no changing socket sizes for multiple diameter plugs. I have three vehicles two current and another previous that all used the same size plug so I definitely am getting my money’s worth out of it. I say dedicated spark plug but you could use it for pretty much any bolt that would require a 5/8” deep well socket.

    Thanks for sharing. I’d like get your take on extended warranty on this thing. I picked up a 2013 s550 with 52000km on it at the moment. The car is in great shape. I’ve been wondering if I should keep this exclusion warranty that covers next 3 years/50k for around $3500 with $200 deductible. Yes, I can do the basic maintenance stuff myself or with help from my mechanic friends. And I know there’s no one answer for all on this. I’m inclined to save that money and get a diagnostic tool. By the way, I tend to only drive less than 10k km a year. Would love to hear your thoughts! Thanks!

    • @mikee6220
      @mikee6220  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Neil Wang in short don’t get it. The car is a baby and even with repairs $3500 goes along way. Just make sure the air suspension is in good shape and the transmission fluid has been changed, and it has solid service records

      Mike Neely, appreciate your thought and the speedy response! Even though you are probably 1 out of 10 to say no to the warranty, but you got me convinced. Lol. I think I’m going to take my chances. Cheers

    Mercedes wants $600 to change the plugs!! Thanks for this video - you just saved me lots of money. Question - shouldn't they have changed the plugs when they did the A5 service?

    • @mikee6220
      @mikee6220  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sonny Dhillon to be honest I don't know what they should have done. I love Mercedes I just hate the dealerships and techs. $600 is a joke. Guys never forget!!! A Mercedes is still just a car with four wheels. Don't let anyone upscale you! Because that's a load of BS!!

    Is this done the same way on a V12 2007 Mercedes S600?

    • @George-cb5rg
      @George-cb5rg 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Infinitely more complicated on S600. Two spark plugs per cylinder (24 total), plus ignition coils come in 2 sets of 12 coils, very hard to pull them out simultaneously. If you don't do it right you damage the coils and pay about $1000 for a new set ($2000 if you damage both sets).

  • @undersan32
    @undersan32 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hey Mr. Loud, my #3 ignition coil is bad. Do you know how I can tell which one is #3? My scanner had the code P0353. When I looked it up on google it said that that is the code for the 3rd ignition coil. Any hel you can give it would be greatly appreciated.

      Normally it says on the package of the sparkplug.
      Some 24NM some 17NM.
      The torque spec for the coil pack is about 10NM
