Opera is incredibly controversial right now and I'm not sure it's a great idea promoting it to people who do not know its legitimate security concerns. From what I read, Norwegian Consumer Council released a report confirming that Opera sends personal user data including search history to a Chinese company (China has terrible privacy laws and requires that its companies share personal user data with its government). Opera is, itself, owned by a Chinese conglomerate. It's especially insidious because people think they are being safe by using their VPN. Basically, y'all can do what you want with your data, but people should at least be aware, so I am not sure it's a great thing to promote is all I'm saying.

Unrelated to the video, but it’s nice seeing people like Mitch getting sponsored. That means speedrunning is becoming less of a niche and turning into a more popular topic for youtube content.
This is the perfect type of video for getting your wrist back into shape while still producing content. The mission is low stakes, and while precise, this seems almost to be more left-handed precision over right- for this trick. Heal well!
Next try to click into the out of screen wall in 7-4 to skip the water area of that level but that will be even harder to execute because of it’s rng and precise jumps and duking required for it.

Even if videos like this already exist, throw your hat into the ring. That's good content to have around.
You know, this is a kind of trick where you try to do on each run but don't bet on it. When it happens, you have a hype moment.
if you fail to get the forbidden p-speed, cant you just fall back on normal p-speed? The other two p-speed tricks require you to commit but Forbidden looks like you could try it every run, and if you don't get it you just get normal p-speed instead.

It's so easy to see you do a strat on stream and just assume it's the most optimal or that it's just how the level has always been done without thinking of any deeper contexts.

You know those youtubers that run around a game and just mindless wander in a video and explain stuff like on minecraft, satisfactory, or the like. Mitch does the same thing, but in the 2D dimension. Mitch is a Grand Master Legend.
I mean, you Say “too hard” but a year or so ago nobody would’ve believed you if you said top runners were attempting door 3 on solid runs. 1/21 for an untrained trick to save a second early in the run? Idk, sounds like potential

The content and editing of these videos is so crisp and clean like a dew-laden fire flower on a foggy morning.
What is the consequence of a failure of the forbidden P-speed? Can't you attempt it every time and then proceed if it fails? what is the potential time loss?
As I understand it:
Risk #1: taking damage from the first chain chomp.
Risk #2: missing the ledge between the chain chomps and hitting the ground much later than you would in the "standard" strat. This would in turn delay when you get P speed down the line.
The resets on the level where the overworld theme keeps starting again felt like a DJ thing. Just add a record scratch for each reset. 😆
I don’t even watch any other speed runners. I do watch summoning salt and a few other gaming channels. But no actual speed runners except for Mitch!

I would love a video you explaining the tritck that sends you directly to the princess.
Have save state and any time you do something dumb in a run punish yourself by having to do Forbidden P speed before you can go back to what you were doing.

I already got Opera GX since the start of May.
If this is forbidden because it is so unlikely but saves quite a chunk of time, then why isn't things like wall glitching to skip entire levels forbidden as well? (I might be out of the loop here, I'm sorry to say I haven't watched full length SMB3 speedruns in years)
You keep using the word "strat," and I don't think you mean the guitar.
I believe the right word here is "tactic." Strategy is like, the overall plan or goal. A tactic is a small component of the plan and how it's done. The strategy is to go as fast as possible through as much of the level as possible.
Everyone's P Speed is their #1 Priority.
because everyone hates fast any% categories but then you sit here and discuss strats like this, that are nutty.
I don't like the term "forbidden". "Unadvisable" fits better imo.

And if we all skip it that's not really helping him forward in the long term either is it. I pay for TH-cam Premium to not have to watch ads and they start doing this crap. It's a failed model. That needs to die.
