Beautiful solution 🤩. I am just having a minor issue. Not sure if I did something wrong. However, if I upload a file, patch it, and want to add another file, the "For All" will pick previously saved file and the new one and patch it. This way, I will have 2x first file, and 1x new file. Maybe some logic needs to be added here to exclude patching the previously saved files?

Hi Reza, Thanks for the video. In my last project I worked with dataverse and encountered few problems and solutions I have couple of doubts 1. After uploading the documents into Dataverse Table using file upload, I cannot preview that file in the backend. To view that file I need to use Power app & download that file Is there any alternative method to view that file in dataverse table itself? 2. File Upload effects on Power Automate flows, especially with trigger conditions with flag set -> I used Dataverse rows modified trigger to run the flow. When I uploaded an empty file (0 Kb) the flow did not fire but when I uploaded a non-empty file the flow is successful. 3. If we use attachment controls and enable attach files in table, user can upload and store multiple files instead of creating lookup and adding many to one relationship. Thanks in advance! Good content as always Reza, Quick question, i always use the attachments feature by enabling attachments on a Dataverse table and all files are stored as notes. What is the advantage of defining the attachments the way you have demonstrated here as opposed to the way I manage attachments?

@@RezaDorrani Yes, I know that but I want to have both download and onscreen preview of files on a single list. I have created a gallery for this purpose and thought that I could have icon next to each listed item on the gallery for click and download.
Instead of Using Data-verse table to store file (obvious reason expensive storage)> I used SharePoint library to store attachment > mapped Display name with File Name with extenstion and Value with Link to Item > But the problem is the attachment control does not Download the file > I am not sure what is syntax error I am doing (I've put workaround; I mapped path with Display name so that Links are clickable) > Also I am working on a logic to Remove attachment on Edit. Great video ! Microsoft have not given any doco related to this ! How do you figure these thing out ?

@@RezaDorrani thanks mate, I was able to do it..for edit form i used combination of gallery with attachment control. Gallery to show library data(filtered with current record id) and attach control to upload more docs. While new form exactly the same that u shown.

But when I do this on my phone, the data set is created in Dataverse with the correct name, but the file is missing. Do you have a solution for this? Hello Reza, great video, thanks 🤩 I see that the PDFViewer component has always been in "experimental" for many months, can we trust it to use it in a production environment? Among other things, starting today in various tenants I'm experiencing extreme slowness in viewing documents, but in this case the datasource is SharePoint and not the Dataverse.🤕
Pdfviewer have been experimental ever since its existence. There is always some risk with experimental features when using it in production. I have used it in production apps with the understanding that there could be potential updates needed in future. I have not experienced any slowness today with apps.
In my case, there are no Name and Value parameters in the Advanced settings, which resulted in a 'no file' error. To solve it you need to go to the App Settings -> Upcoming features -> turn off Power Fx formula bar -> save and reopen an app. Now Name and Value parameters are visible for attachment control. After changing them, we can turn on Power Fx formula bar feature and relaunch an App again.

Because why iam asking so many times download a data from dataverse table is common thing for every application But I don't know there is no vedios to download table data in excel template format. (Csv iam getting) because it's takes so much time it takes add a row into excel(action) in power automate. Iam looking so many options but I did nt get any option

Reza, do you have any suggestions for implementing the download? In my case, every file has some additional metadata and I would like to display the files and this additional metadata in a gallery. There are approaches that use the download function with the Dynamics link, changing only a few parameters, but they are always using the default environment. When you use this in a context of multiple environments, the 401 error problem starts.

Awesome Solution, however, I cannot map the advanced attachment properties of Name and Value to DisplayName, which I believe is not allowing me to download the file. The Name and Value do not appear in the properties. Can you help with this Thank you
Found somewhere in the comments that this is due to the new PowerFx bar being auto turned on. Once you turn it off in settings it shows the values in Advanced
Thanks Reza. This is a really useful video so thanks for posting it. I have been able to follow up until around 16:50 where you say it's important to change the settings in the Advanced tab. Those settings don't appear on my app though. I've searched and cannot seem to find where those properties are now. If I skip that step, the attachments show in the control perfectly fine, but when I try to download them it says 'Couldn't download - No file'. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks.

I got the same issue, did you figure it out by any chance? It seems it's uploading the file on dataverse, I can see it in the table, but when I click on it from the App, it says "File not available on site" So there might be some changes on PowerApps since this video was published. It's bad cause I really need the multiple files upload, and I feel I have 99% of it done.

This really great. But I am trying to figure out how I can upload actual data into the Dataverse database, like the actual row data from an Excel file. Rather than uploading a file as an attachment, I need to populate the database table with data. I have a form to enter in new records individually, but I'd like to have a button that could initiate an Automate Flow that uploads all the column data from an excel file in bulk.

Hi Reza, When I tried downloading the document by clicking on it. It says , File was not available onsite. I have seen the same in many other videos but nobody have worked on that.

At 17:40, on clicking save, file name is changed from "Contract C" to "Contract A" after few milliseconds. Can you please let us know why is it happening. Also its fix. And Thanks Reza!

I have a requirement to upload multiple documents to dataverse for a single record. Its just unfortunate that Dataverse does not allow for multiple documents attachment except we use an extra table

Scenario: Creating a front end in powerapps with an upload/attach option File Upload on Powerapps (excel) Check and validate the file contents (columns have the correct type of data, etc, etc) If its correct pass the file to the database (either SQL, dataverse, or excel even), If not then mention the fields which need to be updated to the user on the end screen and tell them to re-upload after correcting the data. Hi Reza, We are submitting form from Canvas app into Dataverse table with file field into file column. All works well, except when someone tried to upload a .txt file. This is not a blocked file type in our environment. Any ideas why this is happening? The record is submitted but no file present in the table.

The PDF viewer (experimental) does that right? If you look at the end of the video, Reza explained to show the preview on the deletion screen, but in my case I added this PDF control to the Detail Screen, and on the Document property I added this: First(attachContract.Attachments).Value where attachContract is the attachment control then the preview works perfectly Is this what you are looking for?

Thanks a lot! Absolutely brilliant! However, it seems that what you explain at 16:46 has completely vanished in a newer Power Apps Portal Studio Version. There is no option to configure the Name=Displayname and Value=Value under advanced settings and I cannot find it anywhere else either. Any ideas? Thanks a lot.
I found it myself. It vanishes with the new Experimental Feature "New Power Fx Formula bar". Maybe this should be reported to Microsoft - because the download false without this setting and the setting is not available anymore. For now, I could turn the new Power Fx Formular bar off and now it works. Thank you.

Hi Reza, Great video! Hope you are doing well, don’t know better PowerApps expert than you, that’s why addressing you my issue, if you can help. I have an app with form that creates a record in SharePoint List. User is creating a record; it goes to another user for approval. Notification to Approver is sent by email, it has a link to specific record. When approver goes through the link, it opens the record, Approver approves, then it must change the status and go to the next approver. Problem 1: Status is not changed when it is approved, if the record is opened by link. but when It's opened from the app, everything works fine. Problem 2: After opening a record from the link, approver then goes to gallery to open another random record, it opens the record which was opened by link, not the one he selected. Again, if users don't use links to open a record, but use the app itself, everything is working fine. Cannot understand why this is happening, please help to resolve this If you need more details, I’ll provide.

This video is with Dataverse not SharePoint. A doc library has 1 file per item. Attachments control does not add any value there. I have done videos on doc lib on my channel

The technique shown in video is specific to Dataverse. I have done many videos related to SharePoint list attachments. I would recommend searching for those on my channel.

Quick question, I have a need for an app that displays a list of students where a teacher can click on the student's name and then add a comment/delete a previously posted comment. The admin would have rights to add students to the list of students and everyone could view all of the notes posted on a student. Could you give me some direction on how to create this or is there someone willing to create it? I'm doing this for my school so I'm not going to sell it or make money off of it. Thanks!

I have not. PDF Viewer only works with PDF files. I did a video with SharePoint where I used native SharePoint API to transform word/excel/powerpoint files to pdf and show it on viewer. You could do so for Dataverse as well by using APIs that can perform the transformation.

Good content as always Reza, Quick question, i always use the attachments feature by enabling attachments on a Dataverse table and all files are stored as notes. What is the advantage of defining the attachments the way you have demonstrated here as opposed to the way I manage attachments?
Notes comes with a lot of additional capabilities. This is purely file storage.

It will not work for SharePoint. I have done several videos on SharePoint list item attachments. Check my playlist on it.

The attachments control itself can download the files. Simply click on the name of the file to download the file.

Instead of Using Data-verse table to store file (obvious reason expensive storage)> I used SharePoint library to store attachment > mapped Display name with File Name with extenstion and Value with Link to Item > But the problem is the attachment control does not Download the file > I am not sure what is syntax error I am doing (I've put workaround; I mapped path with Display name so that Links are clickable) > Also I am working on a logic to Remove attachment on Edit.

I have not tried a scenario with SharePoint for file storage and Dataverse for metadata hence not sure about the challenges with it. I will recommend checking on the forums at powerusers.microsoft.com/ in case someone has done something similar.
@@RezaDorrani thanks mate, I was able to do it..for edit form i used combination of gallery with attachment control. Gallery to show library data(filtered with current record id) and attach control to upload more docs. While new form exactly the same that u shown.

I see that the PDFViewer component has always been in "experimental" for many months, can we trust it to use it in a production environment?
Among other things, starting today in various tenants I'm experiencing extreme slowness in viewing documents, but in this case the datasource is SharePoint and not the Dataverse.🤕
Pdfviewer have been experimental ever since its existence. There is always some risk with experimental features when using it in production. I have used it in production apps with the understanding that there could be potential updates needed in future.
I have not experienced any slowness today with apps.
In my case, there are no Name and Value parameters in the Advanced settings, which resulted in a 'no file' error. To solve it you need to go to the App Settings -> Upcoming features -> turn off Power Fx formula bar -> save and reopen an app. Now Name and Value parameters are visible for attachment control. After changing them, we can turn on Power Fx formula bar feature and relaunch an App again.

Reza, do you have any suggestions for implementing the download? In my case, every file has some additional metadata and I would like to display the files and this additional metadata in a gallery. There are approaches that use the download function with the Dynamics link, changing only a few parameters, but they are always using the default environment. When you use this in a context of multiple environments, the 401 error problem starts.
I have not experienced any issues with this in a non-default environment. Not sure why it would not be working there.

Awesome Solution, however, I cannot map the advanced attachment properties of Name and Value to DisplayName, which I believe is not allowing me to download the file. The Name and Value do not appear in the properties. Can you help with this Thank you
Found somewhere in the comments that this is due to the new PowerFx bar being auto turned on. Once you turn it off in settings it shows the values in Advanced

Thanks Reza. This is a really useful video so thanks for posting it. I have been able to follow up until around 16:50 where you say it's important to change the settings in the Advanced tab. Those settings don't appear on my app though. I've searched and cannot seem to find where those properties are now. If I skip that step, the attachments show in the control perfectly fine, but when I try to download them it says 'Couldn't download - No file'. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks.

It seems it's uploading the file on dataverse, I can see it in the table, but when I click on it from the App, it says "File not available on site"
So there might be some changes on PowerApps since this video was published. It's bad cause I really need the multiple files upload, and I feel I have 99% of it done.
Actually below on the comment we have this from @lemak89, which saved my life:

Hallo Reza, Thanks for the video, I am interested in the part of PowerApps Patch function to upload attachment to Dataverse file column but am getting this error "Incompatible type. The 'Filename' column in the data source you're updating expects a 'Text' type and you're using a 'Error' type". Please assist and guide me.

Thanks Reza, but how do you allow the user to click on an attachment icon within a gallery and open it? Like the Launch function in Sharepoint lists.
I dont think there is a Launch like feature here. You should have the blob for the attachment and user can click on it to download.

I have a question regarding patching data to dataverse.
When I'm using a browser all the newly patched data automatically appears on my browse gallery however when i'm using an ipad/mobile the patched data do not appear even after clicking a button with refresh table fuction.

I'm also checking the possible reason is that I ticked the "Can be taken offline" option on my dataverse tables. Will try to untick this and see how it goes.
Eventually the data will appear on browse after how few minutes. This is maybe because of the "sync interval" feature of the offline profile.

Hi Reza, This is excellent. Thank you. I am facing an issue one clicking the attachment in view mode. It says file not found on site. Everything else is working fine. I tried using the form control and viewing and downloading the files, it works, but in my canvas app I can see the filename but cannot download it. Any help suggestions would really be helpful.

At 17:40, on clicking save, file name is changed from "Contract C" to "Contract A" after few milliseconds.

I have a requirement to upload multiple documents to dataverse for a single record. Its just unfortunate that Dataverse does not allow for multiple documents attachment except we use an extra table

@@RezaDorrani Thanks for your help, my problem is image or pdf file had been uploaded to a dataverse table as you were doing, and app have shown them in attachment control (view mode), but their values start with "appres://datasources/", so they are not a "https" URL and cannot be downloaded directly. How can I fix it to download directly?

Scenario:
Creating a front end in powerapps with an upload/attach option
File Upload on Powerapps (excel)
Check and validate the file contents (columns have the correct type of data, etc, etc)
If its correct pass the file to the database (either SQL, dataverse, or excel even),
If not then mention the fields which need to be updated to the user on the end screen and tell them to re-upload after correcting the data.
Sir, is it possible? Please help me out, if not suggest me some other ways.

Hi Reza, We are submitting form from Canvas app into Dataverse table with file field into file column. All works well, except when someone tried to upload a .txt file. This is not a blocked file type in our environment. Any ideas why this is happening? The record is submitted but no file present in the table.

Ideally, you should check if file size uploaded is 0 and not patch that info or give a warning to user

The PDF viewer (experimental) does that right? If you look at the end of the video, Reza explained to show the preview on the deletion screen, but in my case I added this PDF control to the Detail Screen, and on the Document property I added this:
First(attachContract.Attachments).Value
where attachContract is the attachment control
then the preview works perfectly

Thanks a lot! Absolutely brilliant! However, it seems that what you explain at 16:46 has completely vanished in a newer Power Apps Portal Studio Version. There is no option to configure the Name=Displayname and Value=Value under advanced settings and I cannot find it anywhere else either. Any ideas? Thanks a lot.
I found it myself. It vanishes with the new Experimental Feature "New Power Fx Formula bar". Maybe this should be reported to Microsoft - because the download false without this setting and the setting is not available anymore. For now, I could turn the new Power Fx Formular bar off and now it works. Thank you.

Great video! Hope you are doing well, don’t know better PowerApps expert than you, that’s why addressing you my issue, if you can help.
I have an app with form that creates a record in SharePoint List. User is creating a record; it goes to another user for approval. Notification to Approver is sent by email, it has a link to specific record. When approver goes through the link, it opens the record, Approver approves, then it must change the status and go to the next approver.
Problem 1: Status is not changed when it is approved, if the record is opened by link. but when It's opened from the app, everything works fine.
Problem 2: After opening a record from the link, approver then goes to gallery to open another random record, it opens the record which was opened by link, not the one he selected. Again, if users don't use links to open a record, but use the app itself, everything is working fine.
Cannot understand why this is happening, please help to resolve this

Hi Reza, I would like to ask on how can I let end users use my published app with dataverse? My end user tried to access the published app with dataverse table however, they were prompted with "Error when trying to retrieve data from the network".

Quick question, I have a need for an app that displays a list of students where a teacher can click on the student's name and then add a comment/delete a previously posted comment. The admin would have rights to add students to the list of students and everyone could view all of the notes posted on a student.
Could you give me some direction on how to create this or is there someone willing to create it? I'm doing this for my school so I'm not going to sell it or make money off of it.

Hello, have you tried viewing WORD|EXCEL|POWERPOINT files from Dataverse table through the PDF viewer?
I have not. PDF Viewer only works with PDF files. I did a video with SharePoint where I used native SharePoint API to transform word/excel/powerpoint files to pdf and show it on viewer.
You could do so for Dataverse as well by using APIs that can perform the transformation.

I would go more than 50 MB in attachment control as performance would take a hit.
