Classic British humor and a good movie to enjoy. Love these old black and white movies, adds an international flavor of fun to watch over again. Thanks for the post. Joe S
My goodness, dear old Yvonne Arnaud. Guildford has a theatre , named after her. Craggs timing and expressions are superb. Thanks for posting this. Most enjoyable.
Love this film classic. "Hurdy gurdy" - why I haven't heard that expression for many years & I loved the characters and dialogue throughout!! What a great, witty and clever script.
Yes, a smashing print. Yvonne is delightful and Walls is at his bet. Suitable for adults it says. "You can enjoy yourself without monkeying about with Willies". I think this will appeal to the schoolboy in me.
@19:29 "Do you think that I'd carry on with a girl like that.............in public ." that slight hesitation being an excellent example of his timing , that occurs throughout this film.
I hope you are not responsible for showing the Nicholas Brothers dancing as the thumbnail for this movie. They were in the US-made movie of the same name, from 1943.
@ 12:15, is that the same young actor who was in 'Windbag the Sailor' (1936)? Produced by same studio, approximately same time...can't remember his name but always wondered what became of the boy
Thanks for this movie. However, would you like to update the thumbnail? because this one is about the musical movie with the same name with Lena Horne and Fats Waller.

The dialogue and casting is simply superb in this fabulous old British Comedy Classic. Many thanks for posting it 🙏🏻
Delightful characters. Smart, witty, fast-paced...bit screwball, bit noir, bit international. Wish there was a sequel!
Brilliant film. Thank you. Such great script writing with all the little verbal gems.

Thanks for sharing this great movie! It is a treat to see Tom Walls and his usual cast of characters.
Lots of fun, no wasted characters, great dialogue. In a comforting tone, " No man who had been married to you could ever possibly want another wife."
Great movie Gainsborough Studios made some really great movies.
Very FUNNY movie ... but ya gotta think fast to catch all the lines and exchanges. Wonderful audio-visual. Thank you Retrospective.
