I don't know why there are not many videos about psychosomatic pain. This caused me a lot of frustration because you feel that you have something that others can't really understand what you feel.

thank you guys for making me feel like i’m not alone
I'm also diagnosed with this due to choking phobia 😢
For me, it's not so much severe pain, but very uncomfortable sensations. All over my body. I am hyper aware of all these sensations and fear the worst every time I get them.
I've developed TMJ and horrible headaches/spasms like you were mentioning over these past few months. It's really what triggered my health anxiety actually -- now i'm so painfully aware of every pain, ache, uncomfortable feeling throughout my body and suspecting the worst :( thank you for reminding us we're not alone!!

For me recently, it’s terrible muscle and diaphragm spasms and constant tightness. I’m constantly out of breathe and I also struggle with digestive issues and major dips in energy. Whatever we are all facing, we are not alone. It’s depressing, debilitating and downright just killing me inside, but I won’t give up this fight! None of us will cave in to these symptoms of stress. I am a firm believer in psychosomatic pain disorder. Much more needs to be studied on it and why some people get it and others don't.

Reason I've found out is linked to add ADHD Asperger's albeit most of us undiagnosed
I just can’t get over the dizziness I feel, it actually feels like motion sickness and I feel off balance and my vision is blurry. It’s absolutely frightening that I stopped driving now and even don’t want to be a passenger in a car because my vision goes all crazy and I feel nauseous and dizzy, my fear is having an inner ear problem, I’ve read up so much on that I believe I gave myself every symptom that goes with it... I wouldn’t wish this on anyone and I pray we all have the strength to get well and live a normal enjoyable life 🙏❤️
Yes me too. It actually just got better. I started Journaling more and really trying to have good thoughts. Not sure if it was coincidence but it got better
My overwhelming stress from a bad pot trip causes me to be dizzy from the moment I wake up till I sleep. It's sensitivity to light, burning sensation in my forehead and eyes and I feel like things are still a bit blurry. It's like I am still high in a way . From what I understand, once you accept it and know it's just anxiety, it will start to fade

Thank you for sharing this video. That's what I'm going through lately. It has been really hard. What's important is to share our experiences and tell people that they are not alone and hopefully it shall pass.
Cherelle, your words what is real and what is not are very true. It is difficult to understand. I am thankful to you for being so honest about your symptoms. You are a very brave woman and help us all to be brave also.
I understand you perfectly,my jaw was literally blocked,i felt my neck and my jaw like somebody strangulated me...it was horrible...i was so scared about that feeling,it made me more anxious...i had days that this feeling were everyday, sometimes twice a day...
i have anxiety. whenever i have any little symptom, i think i have an illness, or a serious disease. i used to have chest pain; it wasn't bad, but it was annoying. i went to the doctors, and i had nothing. the same is happening now. i have little head pains, and i now convinced myself i have a brain tumor. hearing your experiences is helping me realize that my parents are probably right, and its all in my head. i hope you are doing better now!!
It isn't in your head if it's sycosomatic it's your subconscious brain putting real tension in your body via lack of oxygen
Everything you described is 100% exactly what I went through. It was just different in that I didn't have pain it was more related to water retention and low energy and lightheadedness. I had these weird indescribable symptoms for over a year and no doctor could tell me what was wrong. After I learned about somatic illness it almost immediately got better. I still deal with it like it comes and goes. It isnt perfect, but it used to completely take over my life I couldn't do anything. It comes back when I stress over having symptoms. Still annoying, but way better now. I actually figured out it was mental because I noticed that when I took an anti-depressant the symptoms temporarily lessened.
Always good hearing you talk about health anxiety 💙
A friend of mine told me about psychosomatics today and it's something else for me to learn about. The more I can understand (and not catastrophise!) the better. Thank you, as always.
Do you have it daily?
Thank you for the reminder. I’m having a bout right now, but I know it’ll be gone in a couple hours.
Your videos always seem to help me out of my anxiety attacks. My latest one is thinking I have. A blood clot in my lung.
You’ve actually made me want to start a TH-cam channel and share my worries. (Minus showing my face, is that even possible?)
I don’t hear others stories with this very often. I was diagnosed with this a year or so ago. It’s so hard.
Migraines, hard time breathing, bladder pain, itching skin… :(
How are you now
Have you still got psin
Ha, bladder pain I also experience, but only when I visit friends or other social activities.
Randomly, without reason. Sometimes I think my body just randomly is so tense, that it forgets to send me the "pee??" Signal and overstretches the bladder. Sometimes I think its air in the colon.
I know it is not dangerous, but super annoying.
One of the symptoms I've been suffering from is like a weird form of exercise intolerance. It's not a fatigue after exercise, it's like my brain has become sensitive to stimulating activities, and even just walking makes me feel more depressed, irritable and anxious. I have to keep it down to 4-5 thousands steps a day or else the symptoms just make me want to kill myself.
I would often get lightheaded when walking almost like losing my balance.
I've had tests that have ruled out anemia, deficiencies, autoimmune, inflammation etc. No luck. After 6 months I'm starting to realise it may just be psychosomatic.
I've had depression/anxiety for 10 years, but these symptoms started randomly and out of the blue 6 months ago. It's weird. My life wasn't that stressful at the time either.
I'm currently going for therapy in the hopes that that will improve the symptoms and I can get back outside hiking because if I can't resolve these symptoms, I cannot live like this.
Same!

Ive been dealing with the leg stuff for days now. I convinced myself i had a blood clot, and it put me in a weekend long panic. Im still trying to shake it. The calf twitching has eased up but now i have a tension and mild pain in my thigh i cant get rid off.
My family just disregard what I say when I get these anxiety attacks and pains. I get palpitations, TMJ, tense back + neck. Lately my neck wants to turn by itself, my chest and stomach want to cave in. It's terrible. I just feel like crying when I open up to my family and they just brush it off. I was diagnosed with Somatic Symptom Disorder a few days ago. Here is my hellish, nightmare story.
A few years ago I had a benign lump under my skin. This lump was causing absolutely horrific sensations. I had a surgery to remove the lump, but that sensation never went away. It subsides and comes bad and subsides and comes back. Even when it subsides it's just more mild, but it's never truly gone. When it's bad, I simply do not know how to cope. I call out from work, I break plans with friends, all I can do is lay alone in a dark room. I had been to every specialist you can possibly imagine for the last four years looking for a cause and nobody had any idea until I saw a psychotherapist who told me about SSD.
So that's where I am now. That is my story. Thank you for sharing this video.
It's TMS by Dr Sarno to I have this have you got muscle tension to
Have you just got the one symptom
Ive had hypochondria since i was a kid. Im 43 now, and ive realised from my own experience that my somatic symptom disorder is only triggered by breakups, and the trauma of unfaithful or narcissistic partners. Cardiophobia is the main feeling, but over the years ive worried about everything. I don't get somatic symptom disorder when im in a relationship and im happy, i only get mild health anxiety. Maybe oxytocin (the love hormone) has something to do with beating these somatic symptoms?
I have gad and somatic disorder.. I go thrucycles of it. Always something. Just got over bad dizziness and headaches from anxiety. I of course think brain tumor. Still can't figure out my triggers for anxiety. Even with therapy it is rough. I am my worse enemy.
What are your symptoms now how are you
Pain is my biggest thing and I don’t wanna trigger people. I have now been right 4 times when my dr had told me it’s all anxiety and that in its self gives me more and more anxiety about my pains. So now I’m stuck with the fact I have this history of health anxiety but now I have actual things wrong and the drs don’t believe me and just think it’s anxiety so how are we meant to deal with that? Anyone else been in a similar situation?
What symptoms did you have
Thanks for this video. I have had the same symptoms for about a year and it all started after one Dr had me on a benzo. Current Dr was spot on about somatic illness/pains.
I have the dizziness, chest pains and the jaw pains and seizures when I talk much. (Exactly as you described)
Pain killers are useless and was advised it will be for somatic pains.
Did a thorough check and work up medically so that leaves it at Somatic pains, and non specific was the term the Dr said.
There is a bit of vestibular neuritis that is possibly causing the dizzy/lightheaded feeling on my end.
All in all, its somatic illness disorder and just hoping its going to be over someday.

I've had somatization disorder now for 12 years being diagnosed only 6 years ago. After hundreds of doctors appointments and multiple tests like m.r.i.s, ct scans, ultrasounds over that 12 year span, nothing has been found from these symptoms that I go through. I've tried meds, cognitive behavior therapy, acupuncture and almost everything in the book these past 6 years yet I still suffer from this debilitating disease. I applied for social security disability and got it right away as have just been crippled by this disease. Scary thing is that you don't know what's real and what's not. I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer last year even though I felt no symptoms for that one particular thing. It was found as I had an m.r.i. for swelling under my jaw. My shrink said to stay away from doctors while my doctor said if i'm dealing with real symptoms, i must follow up with a doctor. I feel real painful and destressing symptoms....what do I do? that's great that you've been to a TMS doctor...how did you find it?
I'm a therapist also so I've good insight to how my own mind and body interact. I have to work at it everyday though as my mind can get very hyped up over small symptoms.
for example...I have two red bumps on my index finger and I became worried that its yet another fibromyalgia symptom which I hate. I distracted myself firstly from googling and then I wrote down all my fears and challenged them
my health anxiety can be very hard to handle some days but I'm way better than I was 2 years ago.
one day I came to work when I was sick and then everything started, I started having my back pain and everything I tried not really worked, read everything what it could be, really long time thought I was having some really psysical problems with my back because I used to have back pain when I work but after good time of sleep it used to just get away but after going work sick it just didn't stopped and yeah, im laying down in my bed for week or two and nobody used to get working so I decided to quit my job, go to my home country to try to heal, while I was heading home I drinked monster energy drink and because I thought that was really bad that I did I got panic attack, but I managed to keep myself calm with drinking water cus my driver said drink water and it should get better and I believed it and it got better but when I got back to my home country I had not only back pain but chest too, so I was verry stressing and that given me the worst days of my life, I coudn't even talk, I didn't felt like doing simple things, so I got to my doctor and well he gave me those medicine from back pain and heart pain but nothing worked, I decided to not use it, I got me really long time till I figured it out that something is wrong with my feelings thought and emotions, tbh it was couple of days till I figured it out what my disorder is called like. Im still having tests from my heart doctor and nerves doctor for my back cus maybe there is something wrong with them too but till now they didn't found nothing much, and my psychitrist agreed with me that it could be all from my head coming from, so if you really think you have that, take cold showers in the morning, exercese the spots where it hurts, don't be on your phone much, be easy on yourself, know what you can do for yourself at this time and what you can't, go for a walks even tho you don't feel like it, that new simple habit. Our brain is powerful tull, if we want we can go against with it to somebody or it could go against you so choose which one type you wanna be.

If anyone can answer my question it would greatly be appreciated. With this disorder, when they draw blood to check your blood, do any of the tests show any abnormalities? For example something elevated or too low; like iron deficiencies, low white blood cells, etc. ? I’m trying to figure out if one can actually induce an actual illness? Or does the blood lab work come back as all normal? Hope this makes sense. Thanks everyone.
Hello! Stress/anxiety can definitely affect the body (and the blood).
Chronic anxiety can deplete the body of vitamins and minerals. It can also cause a reduction of white blood cells which makes us more vulnerable to catching colds/viruses etc.
I’m not too sure about iron, but it’s possible!

I know those issues. But for me... I get a symptom, go to a doctor, fix it, get a new, completely unrelated symptom.
It gets really problematic, when you are severely psychosomatic. And your doc proves it right, some of the time.
One doc says the breathing issues are Asthma, the other says it can't possibly be asthma.
The right side of the lower rib cage starts feeling raw, is constantly annoying, then starts pain, then the tiredness starts. Turns out, liver damage, random. Also fixes itself randomly.
Blood, after going to the toilet, I know this one. Also Hemorrhoids, luckily. But now it is a constant compagnion for 6 years, 5 weeks ago had an operation, hope it stops now. Looks good so far.
Also had blood in my urine, when I was really super stressed in University. 10/10 not cool. Randomly fixed itself.
Have pain for days left upper stomach, since I know I have (or likely had) a small peptic ulcer pain goes away randomly sometimes after minutes, sometimes after multiple days. Then have pain right upper stomach, yep, liver area. Although the liver is healthy again and has no issues.
For weeks I woke up in the middle of the night because both my arms were completely numb, luckily that went away, but was super stressfull when it happened.
Had a racing resting heart beat last summer of 120-130 bpm. That was not fun. Combined with cold sweat, starting panic, etc. Turns out, severe lack of electrolytes.
Life starts becoming a bit annoying at the moment. Drink enough water and eat enough fiber for the butt, don't drink any alcohol, because liver, take medication for stomach, take electrolytes regularly, etc.
Traveling has become nearly impossible due to resulting anxiety, but I want to rebuild that freedom slowy and to enjoy it.
Not so easy if eating and going to the toilet are a central part of your daily anxiety moments.
I currently to get rid of the travel anxiety by baby step exposure therapy. Lets see if it works. 😂

How do you "get over" somatic symptom disorder... I'm really struggling and I'm done with this stupid fake pain... I sprained my wrist January 3rd and it won't stop hurting... I pulled a muscle in my back when i was 11 and every now and then it starts hurting... having adhd means I have basically no control over my thoughts or whatever.. and my thoughts normally go to pain and whatnot... it's hard trying to convince myself it doesn't hurt... like if I can just learn how to tell my brain my wrist is healed completely there's no reason to be in pain.. the pain will go away.. I will not have to feel it anymore.. how do I do that...
