  • In March 1998 The Concorde came to Battle Creek, Michigan. The reason was that British Airways had begun a program with Western Michigan University to do some initial training of new pilot recruits for the airline. The first group of trainees flew from London to Battle Creek (via New York City) on the Concorde. In New York the governor of Michigan at the time, John Engler, boarded the plane for the flight to Battle Creek.
