for my whole entire life, I've always been so proude to be a sudanese. Now I feel more proude after I saw this sudanese piece of art. real great work, and so nice to watch. and what made this lady's work great? because it says nothing but the truth. the truth about the sudanese pride, which is something nice, and there's nothing to feel shame about it. got it?? for the lovely ladys in the show, I say go on and keep going, we're all after you.
The steps appear to be derived from everyday activites, such as making bread and sowing seeds. Presumably this was either for the bride to show her husband that she would be a good wife, or for her frinds to show her what was now expected of her. I was taught something very similar, which was intended to show making a carpet to give as a wedding present - sowing the seed, growing, harvesting, weaving and finally presenting to the bride. Thanks for this.
This dance is called Subheya right? And girl do this dance at the henna night before marriage or for the day of the marriege at night, with only women and husband but i saw also some girl do it in pubblic now!!! i saw this dance in other video and i saw some specific steps, like these - They put their hands close to their face and simulate a recall ( i don't know what it means i think she says the name of the groom ... I was inspired by the fact that in India between the wedding henna tattoos is hiding the name of the groom and he must find it..) in 5:37 to 5:47 minutes for exemple, because they do it in a particular way Then the fact that they make some steps to play the ankle would be to drive out the evil eye? I ask this because I'm a passionate of ethology of dance, I do not want to be intrusive for culture!! Thanks !! with Love!!!
Am sorry guys but your analysis have nothing to do with this dance its actually called (bridal dance or subhya in sudanese culture ) the bride dance to her groom and women only , the steps and hand moves doesn’t mean something specifically but in away to show her body and femininity . and the bride have the right to dance or not so its not amandatory part of the wedding , there’s other videos with a real professional bride you will enjoy watching it 🌹
This dance is performed by the bride at her henna ( the ceremony before the wedding) in the presence of only her husband and other woman. They do it to many different songs, and yes, they do where somthing like what you see in the video. By the way, not MOST brides decide not to do this at the wedding.
I loveee this dance ♥️ it’s so womanly and sensual, reminds me of Salome’s 7 veil dance.. especially if done properly it could be an even more incredible unveiling
I am Sudanese. I am Nubian. I am both African and Arab. It is the unique mix of the two that makes me who I am. We may be Muslim and/or speak Arabic, but much of our culture is far more African than Arab. It's high time we acknowledged and celebrated our African heritage.
salamat! brides of the nile are amazing! i just saw them live today and wanted to show my respect. I deeply respect what you are doing regardless of the controversy it is causing. what is a world without obstacles?
"The dance is not too popular nowadays and most families that holds the ceremony limits the audiences to females only, I guess you all know why, don't you?" Sorry I dont know why, its our culture and I dont care how you 'view' it as sexual or not i do what i want with my body and no 'cyber community' of people dictate tht ;--;
you know what, i understand your concern but this is a truly beautiful and is so full of culture that real shows off our Rich sudanese culture that loves life and is very glamorous & skillful, thank you
I really don't know if such dance routine can still be performed in Khartoum. I am not a Sudani but I like sudanese music, songs and culture in general. I just stumbled on it while watching other clips of sudanese music. Years ago I had sudanese friends and although the regime applied islmic law, the sudanese people i met used to dance, sing and have fun. It's in their blood.
It is performed still, it is aprt of the sudanese wedding cermony a certain day specified called "jirtiq" where the sudanese bride dances but again bcz of cultural and religious reasons, such cermony is done in a closed place where only women is permitted to enter.
are you guys all kidding?? This is why Sudan will never move forward collectively as one nation. Because they argue over ridiculous shyt. It was a great video. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for sharing the video.... and for sharing your culture.... I am from Mizoram, India... we have a totally different culture, now I know. And I don't see any inappropriate scene in the dance whatsoever....
I'd like to know more about this wonderful sound and it's culture. It is such a beautiful and complex sound. The dance is so beautiful ❤️ Does anyone has any links to buy the song music please? Thanks in advance 🙏❤️
ell, im pure sudanese girl, and yes its a part of the culture which we are proud of, and this is only example!! how do u want other communities to know ur culture if u are hiding it,, i agree and we want to show all our beautiful traditional to others, although in real life we ofcourse will not dance in front of men..
I love this group, and their instructor...I remember these dances at weddings :) I hope we can get this horrible Khartoum goverment out so ppl can be free.
are you sure ur sudanese?? hun this is ragees 3aroos, the do dance like this after weddings, in sort of an afterparty called Jirtik, but its enclosed for only women and the groom, any of this sound familiar??
Bangoia, you have no right to say such things about those girls. I know them in personal, and someone like you cant even imagine how respectfull, smart and intelegent girls they are. besides, we can look at your profile by the way, wow, what a great videos you'v favorited, I can tell what kind of a person you are.
Beautiful dancing! Question from an outsider (from Eritrea specifically); why is dance & elaborate/elegant movement of the body so looked down upon in the Horn? Some movements here remind me of the bejas in Eritrea (Hidarebs, Harendoa, etc.), and it's beautiful to me. It IS our culture(s) and has always been. But a lot of ppl get fanatically mad about it. *shrugs* to me it's just the art to dancing & being proud of your culture.
This particular form of dancing has sexual connotations, and with the purge of religiosity, people are extremely sensitive to anything sensual really. But imo, it's a beautiful form of art and appreciation for the female body.
how strange everyone is loving the video when me and my group did a similar dance and the video was posted on youtube, everyone called us names like were commiting a crime..very strange how sudanese people can look at things..3ala mazajom da kalam fari'3 wa da fan..
@rtoriq btw I'm pretty sure the Beja tribe is a tribe that extends from sudan to Ethiopia and Eritria. In general, all east African cultures are pretty similar
I think that this is great. As a Sudanese I am happy to see our culture expressed and shown. I just don't think they are good dancers and I have been to plenty of weddings :)
Kht is a short-form for Khartuom. So my questions or rather curiosity was whether these dancing event was performed outside Khartoum or sudan in general. Your thoughts?
it's good that a part of sudanese culture is being shown to the western world.. but was it necessary to ilbaso kida? i mean i understand that they want to make it seem good and what not.. lakin aldeen masha ween?
MashAllah, hi i am from somalia and i am wondering these females, from what i can make out from this blurry video, they look alot like east africans. How come sudan has people that are so dark and tall and i think they are the denga tribe and then there is the ones that look like they are somali or ethiopian and then there are arabs that look like well...ARABS! And is this a cultural dance for the sudanese that kinda resemble somali's & ethiopians? or the denga/nubians? Their hair is very long!
this is good clip but you kow we are sudanese very shy people for our leady we canot agree to like this live show or puplic also ithink those leady how do this clip are so free imean they are not born in sudan me be live long time out of sudan at last it is very good to show athers our cultuer through those free leady thanks for this free show go ahead engeneer

Some wonder if this dance culture sudanese or not, those who do not know that the Beja are the tribes of sudanese originally living in eastern Sudan, and extended to the territory of Eritrea, and this dance in the Sudan is a dance special bride just can not for any lady to dance this dance, but in the day her marriage and is only in the presence of ladies, adult mens are forbidden to attend or watch the dancing bride ,

Oh my goodness those are my grlz! The dances are from different groups...I know their dance instructor :) There are no Arabs...only Sudanese. Sudan will take a long time to heal from the genocide in the South/war and in the Nuba mountains, or Darfur, or the Building of Dams in Kadjbar in the Nubian north. One day we will overcome this evil goverment.

loooooooooooooooooooooooooooool
for my whole entire life, I've always been so proude to be a sudanese.
❤️
Are you alive?
جيت من ماما كوكي 😂 , اتمنى إنك حيّ و بتعرفها
I hope you still alive ❤
Oh my goodness those are my grlz! The dances are from different groups...I know their dance instructor :) There are no Arabs...only Sudanese. Sudan will take a long time to heal from the genocide in the South/war and in the Nuba mountains, or Darfur, or the Building of Dams in Kadjbar in the Nubian north. One day we will overcome this evil goverment.
Well, we overcame this evil government this year! hope you were there to see it too! :) sudan has a new bright future ahead of it!
