I agree with you that’s the place to retire no stress just laid back. I’m thinking that too when I retire I want to be back. My eldest brother who’s retired from the US Navy at 46 yrs too and he’s back home. And I have a lot of friends who’s from the us military they love the Philippines number is their Dollars are X55 that’s a big advantage the cost of living compared here InThe states it’s too expensive now. You take care… watching from Chicago 🇵🇭🇺🇸🇵🇭🇺🇸

I am 72 and been here 2 years and well settled and own my own house and have a GF to care for me and love it here. Like a lot of guys I got screwed in divorce and in my late 60;s so that made the decision to move here a no brainer and wish I had come here in 2010 when I had the chance then but backed down... dunb arse to stay in Oz but here I am and life is good, very good in fact.

Retiring at 43 in the Philippines has been amazing. The next step to an even more fulfilling life? Finding my ideal home. 😁

Sage advice as usual. The challenge for me, and I suspect others, is to be humble enough to embrace it.

As usual, great advice . For me, I’ll have to sample it all out . No baggage. Did a great job in sorting everything out ahead of time .

    Hi Mark,
    Jim in Honolulu.
You might want to use this as a video subject or at least consider it.
I had solid plans to lock up my HI condo in January '25 and move to Thailand.
Lived there once for 8 months.
I recently changed my mind, based on my research re the pollution level in the entire area.
Any town entered in Google AQI level will tell you about the health standard you may find in your target location.
36000 Thais died in 2023 from pollution related issues.
The micrometer of that in the air are so small that they invade all bodily systems and sure cancer is very common, even at younger ages.
Look at the background on ANY Thai video to see rarely a blue sky or a long measure of visibility.
I really wanted to do this and now have completely scratched the plan.
I see that many PH areas are within safe readings.
    TY

the last woman I dated mentioned that her friend goes on dates with guys she has zero romantic interest in simply because she gets to go out for free if she has nothing else going on that evening - have a nice dinner and a night out. I would strongly advice men in the US not to take women out on any sort of dinners without thoroughly vetting them to find out their true intentions first. The percentage of sleazy women in the US is rather high unfortunately.

Agreed Mark. We go back to the Ph every year. And every time I depart is blood test time. Get the diagnosis and treatment. Never get sick ot have an accident in the Philippines without PhilHealth.

Mark, can Americans still legally work there even if retired? Is the pay in only low pesos? If it’s in pesos, it certainly wouldn’t even be worth it to work over there anyway. So, for people that move there, should they only expect to use their money to live on from only either Social Security, pensions, annuities or savings for as long as they’re there because the currency exchange rate is much better? Thanks. 👍🏻
