Now reduced to a shadow of it's former self due to privatisation, foreign ownership and TOC's/Leasing companies being allowed to buy foreign tat ! ! ! An utter disgrace 😢
I Charles Harrison started work in crewe works in 1955 the first locomotive i worked on was a beyer garret fitting ashpan door levers many steam engines on the franco crosti with a fitter replacing the high pressure boiler covers as a fitter worked on new build from shunters diesels hydraulics etc after i finished in 1999 i gave crewe herritage many photos of crewe works it was a sad day when the works shut except for the bogie shop
Cracking video, thanks for posting. Great views of the “Fab” Shop, Fabrication Shop, as was, now Bogie Shop. Entered the Fab Shop April 63, after 4 months as Steel Foundry office boy, and 12 months in the Training School, now Crewe IEMD, operated by DB Cargo UK. 👍
Ruined by greedy firms OUTSOURCING work to cheaper labour Blame British mismanagement not foreign workers All this happened under the misrule of the great patriot Thatcher.
GOD BLESS ALL RAILWAY MAN

It’s a shame they knocked the works down it would’ve made a fantastic museum piece showing people what Crewe was famous for

No problem I thought it’d be nice to do as it’s the 180th anniversary of Crewe works which is either soon or already passed
