@@masterjaczor9892 But then also Nott being her tiny rogue self would probably bust out the dex or uncanny dodge and end up just getting kicked in the shin
My headcannon is that when Travis says those little asides they're Fjord's little thought bubbles as he just stares, deadpan, at this tiny green goblin taunting him with impunity.
I love how Matt notices how hard Travis is laughing at Zorth and plays into it, deliberately reacting to Fjord as a character so he can draw Travis further into the giggles.
@@wouldiwasshookspeared4087I was thinking similarly lmao. Zorth is easily a top 3 character along with Orly and Pumat Sol(s). When Matt goes out of his way to over exaggerate a character and really embody their energy like that and give them charming quirks, it’s so fucking iconic and memorable EDIT: let me just add henry crabgrass to this list now that i'm 30 episodes away from the end of this campaign lol
@@essexfuzz Or the "Are you going to anoint my mighty balls?" incident, where Matt had virtually no reason to react in-character to Travis' joke about Chetney trying to not think of anything, but he just ran with it and the other character reacted, assuming Chetney's name to be 'Balls.' And yet another meme was born.
"It's funny since we're kind of spies for the empire" *Matt quietly rolling in the corner* Laura: NOOOO! Matt is rolling to see if anyone heard us *screech*
My favorite thing about watching (as opposed to listening) is you get to see everyone's expressions and it adds so much. The players being delighted and awed at Matt's roleplay or descriptions, or side nonverbal conversations between players/characters (like Cad tossing the goggles back to Beau in the last episode). I love it all
There should be a thousand time stamps. This happens so often since the start of the second campaign. I love seeing the dynamic between the three of them.
May his reign be long and his empire wide. Wait, could Molly have children while being dead, since when being poly morphed your body becomes that thing/person.
I totally did not catch this during the show. "...Since Caleb has only seen one dude's Tiefling...” that being a reference to Molly. That is hilarious, thank you for the context.
Now and again Liam refers to Sam as "husband". Spoiler for an old one shot: In the one shot run by Liam where the players were themselves in a crazy dreamland, when Sam found a message that said "husband" they immediately realized they were in Liam's dream (it's slightly more complicated than that, but I recommend watching it for the touching story).
To be fair, Matt makes his characters all have such distinct voices, and he flys through them so quickly, and masterfully that even as a professional, I imagine it is a bit awe inspiring.
@@RDR911 It would be a nod to the 'I would like to rage' phrase that became Grog's tagline. When Ashley brought Yasha to the table in Campaign 2, one of the best moments was when she said, "I would like to rage" and the whole table went wild at the reference. So, it would just be an awesome t-shirt, with two badasses on it, referencing an awesome tagline of one that was then adopted/used by the other. Besides, who DOESN'T want a Grog/Yasha besties shirt??
Caducius with a butterfly after Mollymauk's tomb always gets me. What a beautiful character creator is Taliesin. If only for that, he is a masterclass player.
It is downright ADORABLE how Laura pulls on her ears and different parts of her face when she's stressed during a battle. I don't remember her doing this as Vex, but it TOTALLY fits with Jester.
Well really, we've not had Molly for as long as we've had Molly, since Caduceus didn't join the cast until a few episodes after Molly died. Still sad though. Long may he reign.
@@lukasbhame9384 It's kinda hilarious from a narrative standpoint that he risked life and limb over months with numerous narrow escapes and partially released an eldritch god from it's imprisonment... just to get a low level skill several other people in his own group already have.
reminds me of when I wanted to bring the dogs to the beach when I was younger. "your responsibility, yea you can bring them, they can also get lost" lol
_"The Luxon (the symbol of which is a literal dodecahedron), they say is the first and original god of Exandria."_ The original god of the tabletop game world is a dice; luck itself.
Something I realized a couple weeks ago, after this episode, Mollymauk will have been in exactly half of the episodes. 26 episodes with Molly, and 26 episodes without. After next episode Taliesin will have played Caduceus for the same amount of time he played Molly. Just a weird realization I had about how long ago that whole thing happened.
@LoneWolfIcy Same here, Molly's story was super interesting and mysterious and I want to know more about it. But Cad is just such a nice presence and addition to the party I can only imagine how different things would be if he never joined up.
@@vosvode They had more in-game time with the Deuce than with Molly long before that; due to taking a couple of weeks to travel from Shadycreek Run to Zadash, then having a couple of weeks downtime in the city before spending another couple of weeks travelling South, they had actually spent more in-game time with Cad than Molly in the space of about 5 episodes.
Another thing is that both Molly and Cad were "moral compasses" of the party but with very distinct flavors of morality. Molly was "Mess with people but help them where you can" and he was a bit more subtle about it where Cad is more respectful and loving about it. I can't help but wonder what that difference in direction would have done.
@@BelegaerTheGreat I think it aged wonderfully. Keep in mind that for the rest of the campaign, all the characters (except caduceus) have seen molly’s tiefling
C V all chocolate is toxic to dogs. Dark chocolate just has more cacao than milk chocolate, so it is proportionally more dangerous, but it also depends on the dog’s size, health and metabolism. A toy poodle could die from a Reese’s peanut butter cup that might only give a Great Dane a little tummy ache
When bau starts saying all that stuff right at the end and Matt just rolls some dice. Laura’s eye go big and Sam holds his breath. Those moments really capture the subtle joys of basement games with your friends. Pure magic
I love that I'm watching them announce the kickstarter for TLOVM when I'm from the far future where the Vox Machina animated series is coming out in less than a week. Really puts into perspective just how long they've been working on this.
I love that I’m watching from the future where I finished the entire season already 😎 All things considered it was pretty awesome! I do kinda wish we could have gotten a taste of their under dark story arc though. But I understand that the producers needed things to happen.
LOVM brought me into the fold. Campaign 1 watched. Watching Campaign 3 and 2 now. The fact I have enjoyed so much of all the other voice over work and anime script writing they have done. Liam, Tal, and Laura's script resume is full of my favorites.
2:05:50 I feel like this is the most D&D moment of this show. Liam talking about strategically placing his character on the map, while Travis, Sam, and Marisha all have their food throwing/catching shenanigans.
2:15:13: Beauregard: "I wanted a pet rat once. My mom wouldn't let me have one, it was really sad. They're actually pretty clean." Laudna looks back and laughs...
Probably the type who doesn't want to be tempted into using a bomb in a city.... since who knows what might happen when they arrive, and he probably dreaded being trigger-happy.
By my own experience I can tell you is not always a good idea when your party friends do melees attack and they usually run to face the enemies. Their ghost are not so kind when you calcinate their bodies to death for being inside the range of the spell xD.
It was obvious that Matt wanted this Lady Zethrys to become a contact of theirs. I mean, that interaction was fun, but you certainly don't talk to a high ranking official like that, especially to a drow woman. She would just have asked her guards to throw these buffoons out of her office and that'd be it.
Wow. Matt went a little mad making the city of beasts and its denizens. It's glorious, and I can hear the soft sounds of 10,000 styluses gliding over graphics tablets.
Matt mercer: "never underestimate the players ability to mess with you". also Matt mercer: zord of zord's pit. Moral of the story: they mess with you, you mess with them.
This town has quests, lovable NPCs, and a lot of options for them to explore... I give the M9 another day before they are run out of another town. I love this running gag.
I mean, they are well on their way with Beauregard making things up that aren't even true and calling themselves Empire spies in the middle of a crowded area.
I don't always have time to watch the episodes when they go on youtube but i always check out Sam's ads then listen to the rest when i have time. they are taking serious strides in fleshing out the DnD beyond ad universe
Liam's got the sharp and attractive looks down, and "following the rules" leaves a whole lot of room for fun and heart and all the stuff Sam champions as well.
Rogue average. If she was less magical and more dexterous she could also see and disarm all traps, do more damage, reroll all the ones and dodge all the things. And as long as she doesn't go and swear allegiance to some lame crow girl, she'll live a lootfull life.
Rogues hit ludicrously hard, but only when they have sneak attack. Usually the first attack of the round does insane damage and the next ones are just OK
It's just basic rogue things. There is nothing spectacular about it when you math it out. Take a drow assassin gloom stalker with sharpshooter 20dex. 3 attacks turn 1 all advantage due to surprise round first sneak attack and autocrit on all attacks. 3assassin5gs if all three hit your damage starts with a longbow @2*1d8+2*2d6+10+5=19-43 +2*@2*1d8+10+5=17-31=>34-61 sum: 53-105 ~79 and then you hide as a bonus and you're invisible to darkvision. 150ft DV 600 range no disadvantage. You see drow before they have a chance to see you. If you're wondering: attacking from a hidden position Dex+5 ss-5, going w/ prof mod only on advantage Vs ~ac 16=> hit on 12 w/ advantage: 64% to hit per shot so 33.92-67.2 ~50.56 damage a round. Note to the nosy: GS is invisible to DV as stated above, expertise in stealth, dispatch the oil, ignite it with a caster and it can still do a surprise on its first round if it initiates then hide. Yes rogues are op. Carefully created characters are way more op. Edit: looking through my calc I gave a Nott build a vs15AC so the per shot damage is a bit lower but only marginally from the original vs16AC GS calc. Sry. For anyone wondering: watch Campaign 1.
We've known them the same amount of time, but in game they've spent more time with Caducues because of all the time they spent of sea.
I've been waiting for this episode too for that reason. We've crested the hill finally. It's been a trip.

Im always in awe of how much damage Nott deals
Compared to a 87.75%to hit 1 shot (action) @1d6+2d6+5(+8)=8(16)-23(32) ~15.5(24) with to hit 7.02(14.04)-20.183(28.08) ~13.601(21.06)
Even on an average a good build way outperforms a fun build.
Sry.
