Where is the proof that the FRM causes premature piston ring wear? Also, you can hone and bore the FRM cylinders just as easy as non FRM . Porsche and the NSX use the same FRM cylinders but do you hear of the supposed "premature ring wear" with them? 99% of the time the problem is BAD OR WRONG VALVE SEALS! The 1990 prelude Honda factory manual actually shows the WRONG (or the manufacturers have it wrong) valve seals! Compare the intake and exhaust seals from Honda's OEM Japanese manufacturers selling on majestic Honda to the pictures in the factory repair manual and you'll see that THEY'RE SWITCHED! Fact is that FRM cylinders are great when maintained and oiled properly. Guaranteed any smoking frm worn piston rings is caused by lack of oil and or bad maintenance. The reality is of the dozens of 3rd gens I've been a part of, half were B21A1 motors and none of them had any kind of piston ring wear. Over 300,000 miles and the cylinders had perfect compression, leaked zero oil after seal replaced but did burn a bit of oil, not much tho. BUT most of them had bad valve seals! So please show me proof that FRM cylinders cause premature piston ring wear other than hearsay from older blogs or forums.
