Hi!! I had just taken this class at home and loved it! I’m 47, practiced ballet my whole life, not professionally though, but I can’t live without it, that’s what bring balance and healthy in my life. I have a good infrastructure at home 🙏🏻 and in here I’m still quarantined and working from home. Wished there were much more from your classes, Mr Porretta is awesome! Love from Brazil.
Im so glad I found this. I did ballet my whole life and decided against doing it past high school and I'm noticing myself more tense and anxious when I haven't been active. Love that I can still do ballet
Thank you for considering people who have no big space. The class is just beautiful and helpful. Nice illustration, short and sharp movements, lovely dancers.
I'm so glad this class is still available. It's so wonderful to have a fast paced and challenging class to do at home since we are still mostly doing class at home a year later! Thank you PNB, and Jonathan Porretta!
An exquisite class with an amazing instructor and well honed dancers. Mr. Poretta if you haven't considered starting your own ballet school;; then please reconsider as your teaching methodology would greatly enhance this art form.
Thank you very much for the class. I am 52 years old and I have not done ballet since I was 16. Exercises are my relaxation, in this time of great stress. Music is wonderful, I really enjoy it. Thank you all for making such a beautiful routine available to everyone. Could only do 20 minutes. But with perseverance I can finish. Thanks again.
I have been discovering great ballet classes this week and this is one of the best. I had to reverse my directions in the center as I am used to seeing the teacher in the mirror but was able to keep up with most exercises without bumping into my furniture. Thank you John and his dancers & musician for keeping us sane during lockdown !
Thank you so much for posting this! The pandemic has been challenging but this is one of its gifts - the chance for me to take classes that would otherwise be inaccessible to me. As an adult learner being able to repeat it and to rewind is very helpful. It is well-taught, well-paced, well-conceived and well-shot. THANK YOU SO MUCH!
It’s been ten years since I attempted a ballet class and this was challenging yet manageable for me. (I had to slow a few things down!) I really appreciate being able to rediscover this beautiful art form from home. Thank you!
Took a class this morning & loved it! Not sure who taught, it was intermediate & hard. Had to really think. Out of my comfort zone & got a good workout. I can't seem to re-find it but another of your classes has come up & I will try that & maybe get more familiar w U-tube mechanics I agree center would be easier to follow if one of your gorgeous dancers had their backs to us. Loved the combos! Yay!
This is the perfect class. Well explained and appropriate for Intermediate and Advanced dancers. There are so many lovely, yet simple variations on standard exercises. It's fresh and fun! Thank you!!!
Thank you for making this recording. Many studios are closed for spring break where I am, and this was just what I needed. I was concerned that there was no level associated with this class, but it was easy to just replay whatever I didn't quite get. Mr. Porretta does an excellent job demonstrating and explaining the exercises, with running commentary during the exercises, and the dancers are beautiful and elegant.
Ah sooo good to be back in class! This is a perfect pace to work on those precise, fast tendus and jetes. Love the reminder to continue to lift from the knees Jonathan. That really helped to get out of the hips and heels.
Many of the barre exercises were very similar to the ones I danced to 6 years ago. Thank you for bringing me back to the barre at home and reminding me that there are still joyful memories of my 15 years of ballet training inside of me
Thank you so Much for this class. I am definitely not as great as your dancers, I stopped Ballet 20 years ago but it s always fun to challenge ourselves. A thousand Times thank you. I really enjoyed your class :)
Definitely my favorite TH-cam class yet. I've been dancing for like 13 years, but I fell off with ballet this last year and am just finally getting back into it and - ouch. In a good way.
Wonderful class and I had a really good work out! I just had a hard time following the centre combinations. I would normally be facing the teacher’s back when learning combinations so I was having a hard time figuring out my left and right sides on this one lol. Maybe next time the teacher can mark it once with his back facing the camera?
Thank you so much!!! I have just followed this class in Brazil and Loved it!!! If you can, post more of them! Beautiful class!!! so grateful! Love and Peace! Stay safe as well all of you!!!!
Thank you so much for this class. The exercises in the beginning have really have been life changing. I have really high arches, and my feet get horribly cramped if I wear flat shoes. Doing the beginning stretch at the beginning of the video has helped me to find a way to actually stretch the inside of my feet.
Absolutely agree! And he still gives corrections although they are professional dancers! I am an amateur and was in an intermed ate class recently; the teacher was exactly as you described!!
Thank you so much!!! My class got canceled and I have been practicing at home alone since december and this is honestly the best vid of a ballet class!! Amazing, ty!
Wonderful class! Thanks so much Jonathan! Love that I can feel like I'm home in Seattle even though I'm currently living in Texas and can't go home to visit!
Those frappes though... Wowww! Great class. Lots of fun. I only hit my couch like 8 times. Had to keep my adagio sort of low, but it was still nice. Thanks for offering this :)
Thank you very much! I loved your class! Beautiful music, beautiful combinations, please keep posting more classes with Jonathan! I'm gonna follow you everywhere haha. Thank you so much!
I took ballet I during quarantine and then decided to try this. It’s a bit challenging but I love it. Can the instructor wear a band or colored sock on one of his feet so I can easily see which is left and which is right plz? Just a suggestion :) thank you for the video, it made my day
Yes great class! Would be wonderful to have a short companion video - center work filmed from the back (would just need one side), and then some comments for tricky parts. Example: my plie in arabesque looks more like I'm collapsing than dancing ;-) so could use ideas on how to make that lighter. Keep dancing and stay healthy!
Wonderful class! Thank you so much! The center combinations were very good for my body and brain! You all make it look so easy and beautiful! Thank you for inspiring adult ballet dancers like me! :-) Stay well and safe!
Thank you! I grew up doing this barre work and taught it except for turning the feet for stretches. Great idea!! Now time for me to do this for myself again. ❤️❤️
It's very similar to what I'm trained in which is like...an amalgamation of techniques with a definite Balanchine aftertaste? Except the frappes are different. If you ever find a name for it do tell.
50:58 I’m not doing it in my bedroom!..... I’m doing it in my *mom’s* bedroom 😆 her clothes drawer is basically a ballet bar so it’s a better option 4 me 🤷♀️
It’s true ballet has always been classically involved with classical music. However over the years with it becoming more modernized you do find teachers will use other genres of music as well as have different live musicians play various instruments. In the end it just comes to preference in this day and age. Professional ballet companies are very traditional and will stick to what they know usually. Speaking from experience, I graduated with a BFA in dance and have danced for years.
Anyone else find themself habitually nodding at the end of combo demos to show you understand? I seem to have pavloved myself lol
Lol, so glad, I’m not the only one who felt like a fool 😂
😂😂😂
LOL!! Best comment I've seen in a while ....
Don't feel bad. I pavloved my kids by ordering pizza too many times so for a while they would go "Pizza?" whenever the doorbell rang 🤣🤣🤣
don't you mean Pavlova'd?

Same. 1st grade to 8th
I really like how business like he is. Shows the exercise and then gets right into it.

Great class, beautiful dancers, inspiring. Instructor is to the point, like him a lot.
super.....an "old" dancer and loved taking class...especially because have not been able to teach for months,,thank you for this
“I hope you didn’t break any furniture or slam into the wall or .... hit your dog” LMAO 😆

Thank you for posting these! A silver lining of lockdown.
I'm a level 5 and this class was really helpful during winter break and i'm gonna do it again tomorrow
Many of the barre exercises were very similar to the ones I danced to 6 years ago. Thank you for bringing me back to the barre at home and reminding me that there are still joyful memories of my 15 years of ballet training inside of me

i would just mirror them and not worry about what specific foot they are using.
@@rachellynncreates2703 Yeah. Once you're getting both sides it doesn't really matter 😊
This made me feel like a big chicken. One day I will dance like a swan though!
I ate a big chicken while I watched this in bed!

I love how the teacher is really musical and explain the tempos perfectly 😍 I hate those teachers just marking the combos with the hands

so uh i have missed dance since i haven’t been able to do it this year because of covid so here i am at 4 in the morning
Thank you :)
Why do they rehearse with pianos instead of the real song? Can anyone tell that?
