Another great interview but I'm kind of curious, how could somebody "dislike" this video. Each to his own I guess. Safe travels.

Growing up i spent every summer in Oriental. My uncle had the first one and only privately owned sailboat. We sailed every day we could, I actually was there when Oriental marina was built. Love the Oriental wave.

+Warren Swint Thanks so much for your comment Warren. We've filmed over a dozen other cruiser interview/boat tour series and can't wait to start editing them. There's so much great stuff ahead. Please stay tuned. :)

dndonwogs Hi Don and D! We miss you guys and Oriental so much! I hope someday you come visit us. We will always have berths for you guys aboard Paragon. Would you be interested in sailing the beautiful west coast of Ireland during the month of May or sailing offshore to Iceland in June? :)

People are nice everywhere. When we pulled into Oriental we went for groceries, asked a random guy where the Post Office was and he said he'd drop off our mail for us - and he did! In Stamford our outboard died and a random guy offered to drive us to the Yamaha dealer for repairs. In the Chesapeake we dropped the hook in front of a house in a little side creek, the guy came down to the shore and we expected to get sh*t from him. Instead, he invited us in for showers and a meal. It's been pretty much like that everywhere. People are people.

They bring up an interesting point. How does a cruiser know when it's time drop the anchor the last time?

Wonder what the boat count will be in 6 months now that you've posted this video? Better start building the new marina Virginia, coz we're all coming over to stay!!
Nice to know that there are still some places that can be described as delightful.

Gee! I want to come and visit...maybe sail a bit once I get used to my boat. I'm just afraid that, if I come to visit, I'll want to just retire and live there!

The town was originally known as Smith's Creek. Then on May 8, 1862 the sailing ship, Oriental ran aground 33 miles north of Cape Hatteras and sank. The story I've heard is that someone from Smith creek found a nameplate from the ship Oriental that had washed up on the beach. The town liked the name and was incorporated under that name in 1899, a few years after the town's post office was established. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
