    😆 The "laughing" is their reacting with incredulity at her voice. It's a top compliment. 🥂

      Agreed. It is clear that went over a lot of heads here. If anything this is the ultimate sign of respect.

      @zaradenise5209 I'm well aware of the culture when it comes to responses to singing. I react to gospel singers every single week. Some of my closest friends are gospel singers. This just didn't feel like that. Mainly because they were talking amongst themselves while they were laughing instead of paying attention to Callie. They were clearly responding to what eachother was saying.
      Also, who's they?

      @@TheCharlieSmithChannelthey could be talking about her singing. If you know responses, you’ll know. And I’m sure “they” is anyone who wasnt raised in black church. It happens.

    Nobody's going to explain that the guy who SEEMED to laugh was in fact reacting to Ms. Day singing? I think the confusion may be cultural. He wasn't ignoring he was like GOOD LAWD in reaction to her singing. Others have misinterpreted that as well. Blessings.

    • @MOBBTheRightWay

      Right. It's like when girl said you Betta stop. They don't by any means want her to stop. It's certainly cultural.

    They are complimenting her!! That is not insulting, but instead praising what her gift does for their soul and spirit. It's hard to explain, but trust me, that is the response a singer wants to hear! God bless you and I pray you continue to work through your journey!!

    This women's voice spooked me the first time I heard her. Her voice is other Worldly. It's one of those things that confirm that there is a God....and he is the creator of this....4 years later and I'm still amazed. Callie is probably the best singer I've ever heard in my life.

    As someone already informed you the people in the background were actually praising her vocal abilities. In the BLACK COMMUNITY we are VERY expressive when we hear great singers. Also she wasn’t singing at an actual concert or anything, she put the camera down and started recording. ALL of them were there just for a rehearsal. You’re the second British reactor that has made a slick remark about the people in the background

    • @TheCharlieSmithChannel
      @TheCharlieSmithChannel  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm aware of this. I'm not ignorant to the black community and how they express. Half my family are black. It wasn't a slick remark I just didn't get the impression that their mutterings and conversations between each other were directed at Callie's performance

    • @goldeneye3100
      @goldeneye3100 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@TheCharlieSmithChannel then you weren’t watching the video, and it’s so like a white/non black person to use the black people in their lives as shields for their ignorance. It’s very common in the black community for people to do this, YOU shut up.

    • @TheCharlieSmithChannel
      @TheCharlieSmithChannel  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@goldeneye3100 OK man. Whatever you need to tell yourself. How about this, 'you better stop' an expression directed towards the music. Other mutterings while they pass around sweets and phones are not. I'm not stupid

    • @goldengarnet
      @goldengarnet 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Considering Terrell Grice (a popular BLACK man on TH-cam) said something about it as well, that means it was concerning. As a person who grew up in black church and in choir, rehearsal or not, you show respect to those performing or leave the room to do other things. While Callie may not have cared, others who have seen the video were wondering why they seemed so blah. It wasn’t just Charlie

    • @TheCharlieSmithChannel
      @TheCharlieSmithChannel  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@goldengarnet thank you. I think some people just see me as simply a white dude criticising black people and being ignorant. I am not ignorant to the way African americans show appreciation to people performing. You'd have to be blind to see that this wasn't it with the exception of 'you better stop' when she went low. They were clearly just talking amongst themselves and cracking jokes 🤷🏽‍♂️

    Your absolutely right. The shenanigans seem to be a play to someone in the picture who wants attention. But the fact of the matter is the song IS a prayer. And the internal spiritual connection that materializes delivery of the prayer is thoroughly beyond it. Callie's vocals are to be believed, there is no aspiration, never mind competition, it is simply who Callie is.
