How do you organize your sketches? Do you sort sketches by category - for example, 2” strips, big patterned paper piece, sketches for scraps, etc?

Not sure where this has been hiding since I have been watching for at least 2 years. One suggestion to help size the sketches would be to use your layered dies, especially for the squares.

    • @KristieMarcotte

I store all the printed sketches in an expandable file folder, organized by website and in chronological order. It works for me. I also have all of the sketches stored on my computer. I find it quicker to look on my computer when I'm searching for a sketch. Then I can pull out the paper version if I'm recording a video.

Does anyone know for sure how much larger Kristie cuts her mats? 1/16" 1/8" or 1/4" ? Some of them look super narrow.

    • @KristieMarcotte
      @KristieMarcotte  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Hello! For most of my cards, I cut the cardstock layers 1/8" larger. For example. The background pattern paper is 4" x 5 1/4". I would cut the cardstock layer to 4 1/8" x 5 3/8". If I want a wider layer, I'll add an additional 1/4".

Ok, so I’ve been saving and printing card sketches I like for some time now and I have a b-zillion 6x6 paper pads. Now what??
Something is missing in how to proceed. How to choose which papers go where? At about 5:50 in the video was the key that I needed to hear. You found the paper you wanted to use and THEN found sketches that will work with it! 💡💥👍🏻🤯🔐 BOOM that was “key” that I was fumbling with. This totally changes the way I look for sketches now. Thank you so much for sharing your brilliance and creativity with us!

Thank you for sharing your creative process. I found it very helpful. I did not realize you had the sketch sites available on your blog. I guess I never go to your blog, only TH-cam. I will definitely be using that in the future. TFS

You are such a nice person to watch; you so openly share your mind and your talent - I saw your original video and it wasn't that bad. Mine were all made in a hotel room so it's pretty dark - it's the only time I could catch my busy husband to tape me! I went to check a few posts but never checked out the other links you had at the top. I have it on my list to go back to your blog and click on everything. I'll get to know you better, that's for sure.
It's funny because I do the exact opposite. I'll check out a made card, figure out the measurements and then create another one. And of course I would change some of those cards because of what's left with the pack I want to use. Until you, I didn't know how to use a sketch...

If you started recycling scraps I would be SERIOUSLY worried about you. 😂🤣😂🤣 Thanks for this video! I think I would use my stamps more if I started with them! I have a tendency to get excited and start chopping paper. 😂💙💙💙

Kristie, you STAR! This is just what I needed to kick my crafting mojo into gear! I have a file on my computer of card sketches, but I find it hard to pick the right papers. Thank you!

Thank you for doing this video and sharing your knowledge. I did find that the link for "Mojo Monday" doesn't actually have their sketches on it anymore. However, I found them by doing a search on Pinterest. So, they are still out there if you look. Just thought I would pass that along. :) Thanks again!!!

Thank you! It looks like the original Mojo Monday blog isn't showing the sketches anymore. It was when I recorded this video. I updated the link to a Mojo Monday board on my Pinterest page.

Hi, Kristie. I can't believe I found your video today! On my blog this morning I shared my first every sketch card. I made it using a Freshly Made Sketches. I'll certainly be making more. Many thanks for a great video. xx

I'm so glad I found your channel! I think I may have seen some in the past, but this is right up my ally. I watch all the most known names in card making today, but sometimes it's just too much. The cards are beautiful, but not what I would be able to make. Just watching this video alone has helped so much about card sketches. I've always been a bit intimidated by them. Not any more. Thank you so much! This was an extremely helpful video. Now to go back and watch your others.

This was a great video! You explained everything so clearly and then showed a sample of how you made each card. I learned a great deal about card sketches. However, how do we know the names of these businesses that make sketches? Is it just by watching card makers? Could you list some names of companies so I could go look and find card sketches? Thank you for helping me.

Thank you! If you head over to my blog, I list and link to several different sketch sites. My blog is listed in the description box. You can also simply do an internet search for card sketches.
